NO_CRASH_STACK with different number of crashes from the App Store.
Hello. For the last few months I have been facing a situation for which I do not understand either the reason or the solution. Here is an example for the last few weeks: In App Store Connect it shows 214 crashes for the last week In Xcode it shows 56 crashes for the last 2 weeks without stack traces (NO_CRASH_STACK) In Firebase Crashlytics there is not a single crash. When I click "Show in Finder" it opens a folder with .xccrashpoint files. As far as I understood from the instructions on posting crash reports - this is not what is needed. Interesting point: it looks like the errors occur on iOS 15-16 devices. I have several questions: Why is the number of crashes in Xcode different from the number in App Store Connect? Where are the other crashes? How can I understand what the problem is if there are no stack traces in Xcode?

Xcode does not see code changes in local Swift packages (autocomplete wrong, errors shown, but still compiles)
Hey, I've been having a lot of problems with Xcode 16 not seeing changes made to code in local Swift packages (the packages are inside the root directory of the project). Whenever I make any change like renaming a variable or type, or adding new methods or whatever, autocomplete doesn't see those changes and when I type in that new type/variable manually it gives me an error. However, building the project still works fine, even with the errors never going away. The only way for it to notice the code changes is to clean the project and build it again which takes a long time. At first, I thought this was connected to the new "Explicitly built modules" feature in Xcode 16, but I turned it off and it still happens. Any ideas what I can try? I'm on the latest Xcode version, but this problem has been happening since Xcode 16 originally came out. Thanks! Dennis

build script failed
I am trying to use build script to build a product. The following is something I put in the script. XCODEBUILD="/usr/bin/xcodebuild" XCODE_VERSION=$((${XCODEBUILD} -version 2>/dev/null || echo 'V -1') | head -n 1 | awk '{ print $2 }') But I got the error from the above line. I double checked and make sure that I installed the Xcode command line tool on my Mac laptop. Any advice for this issue? Thanks.

Xcode 16 | xcodebuild fails when providing -destination 'platform=iOS Simulator,name=iPhone 16,arch=x86_64'
Hello. In the Xcode 15 we were using this command in the terminal to run our tests on the Rosetta Simulator: xcodebuild -workspace CoreLibraries.xcworkspace -scheme CoreLibraries -destination 'platform=iOS Simulator, name=iPhone 15,arch=x86_64' test` In the Xcode 16 the same command doesn't work anymore. It produces the error: xcodebuild: error: Unable to find a device matching the provided destination specifier: { platform:iOS Simulator, arch:x86_64, OS:latest, name:iPhone 16 } Unsupported device specifier option. The device “iPhone 16” does not support the following options: arch Please supply only supported device specifier options. Running test directly from the Xcode UI using iPhone 16 (Rosetta) still works fine. Does anyone know how to modify the xcodebuild command to make it work again?

Privacy - Siri Usage Description being reset to default text "Describe why your app needs Siri access" on generating archive
I have an iOS app and that has CarPlay enabled. I have Siri capability and the feature has been tested in Car. The voice commands are working perfectly fine. However, I am facing a weird issue as described below, The key NSSiriUsageDescription, is set to custom text in info.plist. After generating archive, I exported and checked the package contents, in which the the key NSSiriUsageDescription was reset to default text(Describe why your app needs Siri access) in the info.plist. I do not have any dynamic build process that's writing to the info.plist. Only the Siri key is being reset, rest of keys like camera/location permissions are intact. Kindly suggest what needs to be done at my end

Using Adhoc Profile for DriverKit show error: Xcode 14 and later requires a DriverKit development profile enabled for iOS and macOS
We got an app for iPad which has two targets one for the App itself (MainApp target ) and another one for the Driver ( Driver Target ) using DriverKit. The app works fine in Development, but I'm trying to distribute it with adhoc. I've requested the Distribution Entitlement to Apple, after getting it, the App Id for the Driver has the following Capabilities: DriverKit, DriverKit (development), DriverKit USB Transport (development), DriverKit USB Transport - VendorID, In-App Purchase Now in the profile section, I've created a adhoc profile for the Driver AppId (Identifier). Obviously I've also created an Adhoc profile for the Main AppId Finally in the Signing & Capabilities Section I set up the profiles for MainApp target, int the Debug one I set up the Development one and int the Release one I set up the adhoc one. I do the same in the Driver Target, but when I set up the Adhoc one in the Release, I've got a warning: Xcode 14 and later requires a DriverKit development profile enabled for iOS and macOS. Visit the developer website to create or download a DriverKit profile Also interestingly the Signing Certificate section says: None I also set up the Capabilities for the Driver Target: DriverKit USB Transport - VendorID DriverKit USB Transport ( Development ) Inside these capabilities I set up the vendor ID as dictionary The problem is, if I try to Archive the app I will get the previous Warning message as error: Xcode 14 and later requires a DriverKit development profile enabled for iOS and macOS. Visit the developer website to create or download a DriverKit profile. Any idea what I'm missing? Thanks

XCUItest - Accessing page content when using deeply nested React Navigation navigators on iOS Using
Hello! I've been trying to automate tests using Appium/XCUITests in a React Native APP, but I'm finding many blockers. They are related to the amount of nested elements in the "DOM" in which the XCUItest can not go deeper to get all the elements we need. snapshotMaxDepth -> The XCUITest does not support more than 60 value, otherwise it returns the following error: Got response with status 404: {"value":{"error":"stale element reference","message":"The previously found element "Application 'xyz.xxx.xxx'" is not present in the current view anymore. Make sure the application UI has the expected state. Original error: Error kAXErrorIllegalArgument getting snapshot for element <AXUIElementRef 0x600003aaf750> {pid=95967} {uid=[ID:1 hash:0x0]}","traceback":"(\n\t0 CoreFoundation 0x00007fff20405604 __exceptionPreprocess + 242\n\t1 libobjc.A.dylib 0x00007fff201a4a45 objc_exception_throw + 48\n\t2 WebDriverAgentLib 0x000000010a3caa53 -[XCUIElement(FBUtilities) fb_takeSnapshot] + 723\n\t3 WebDriverAgentLib 0x000000010a3cad07 -[XCUIElement(FBUtilities) fb_snapshotWithAttributes:maxDepth:] + 183\n\t4 WebDriverAgentLib 0x000000010a37baea +[FBXPath writeXmlWithRootElement:indexPath:elementStore:includedAttributes:writer:] + 778\n\t5 WebDriverAgentLib 0x000000010a37b12c +[FBXPath xmlRep... But if I inform less than 60, the XCUITest is not able to get all the elements we need to automate: There are many threads about this, all of them the issue is in the XCUITest: https://github.com/appium/appium/issues/14825 https://discuss.appium.io/t/handling-staleelementreferenceexception/35095/11 https://github.com/appium/appium/issues/18085 https://discuss.appium.io/t/error-in-appium-desktop-refreshing-source-after-adding-snapshotmaxdepth-greater-than-62/34058 https://stackoverflow.com/questions/74235441/appium-cant-reach-elements-in-ios-source-tree-they-are-too-deep-works-fine-in Tested all possible solutions suggested in the threads, but I will have the issue.

EXC_BAD_ACCESS if Address or Thread Sanitizer is enabled
I'm getting EXC_BAD_ACCESS (code=2, address=0x7ff8a6e2fcce) when launching my app on the simulator with Address or Thread Sanitizer enabled. I'm running Xcode 16.3 (16E140) on macOS Sequoia 15.4.1 (24E263). The call stack looks like the following. SPM Package resources bundle id format has changed in Xcode 16
I have a project that uses local SPM packages for modularization. In one of my local SPM packages I have a .storyboard file that gets packaged as a resource in the SPM package and consumed inside the parent. In Xcode 15.4, the resource bundle for my local SPM Package has the bundle id PackageName-TargetName-resources. I use this inside a parent storyboard to reference the storyboard from the SPM package. In Xcode 16, however, the resource bundle for my SPM Package gets assigned the bundle id packagename.TargetName.resources. This, of courses, introduces a crash in builds of my app done with Xcode 16 due to the incorrect bundle id. There is no documentation of this change that I could find by Apple or by the SPM team. Apple Team: There is a Feedback Report FB14803020 with the build files attached from Xcode 15.4 and Xcode 16. I cannot attach those here due to the public nature of this forum

Testing/debugging QLThumbnailProvider on macOS
I'm implementing the 'new' QLThumbnailProvider for our macOS app... So I just created the skeleton from Xcode, added our QLSupportedContentTypes in Info.plist, and have the skeleton code like below: import QuickLookThumbnailing class ThumbnailProvider: QLThumbnailProvider { override func provideThumbnail(for request: QLFileThumbnailRequest, _ handler: @escaping (QLThumbnailReply?, Error?) -> Void) { // cannot trigger break point here! } I understand I should test the Thumbnail Extension by using: $ qlmanage -t my_file.ext Testing Quick Look thumbnails with files: my_file.ext But I don't know what process to attach to in the Xcode debugger... a bit clueless... I've skimmed relevant parts of https://developer.apple.com/videos/play/wwdc2019/719, but there is no real debug tips... Does anyone know if it is possible to debug with Xcode or not? And if possible, then how? 😅

Network framework crashes on fork
Hello, I have a Cocoa application from which I fork a new process (helper sort of) and it crashes on fork due to some cleanup code probably registered with pthreads_atfork() in Network framework. This is crash from the child process: Application Specific Information: *** multi-threaded process forked *** BUG IN CLIENT OF LIBPLATFORM: os_unfair_lock is corrupt Abort Cause 258 crashed on child side of fork pre-exec Thread 0 Crashed:: Dispatch queue: com.apple.main-thread 0 libsystem_platform.dylib 0x194551238 _os_unfair_lock_corruption_abort + 88 1 libsystem_platform.dylib 0x19454c788 _os_unfair_lock_lock_slow + 332 2 Network 0x19b1b4af0 nw_path_shared_necp_fd + 124 3 Network 0x19b1b4698 -[NWConcrete_nw_path_evaluator dealloc] + 72 4 Network 0x19af9d970 __nw_dictionary_dispose_block_invoke + 32 5 libxpc.dylib 0x194260210 _xpc_dictionary_apply_apply + 68 6 libxpc.dylib 0x19425c9a0 _xpc_dictionary_apply_node_f + 156 7 libxpc.dylib 0x1942600e8 xpc_dictionary_apply + 136 8 Network 0x19acd5210 -[OS_nw_dictionary dealloc] + 112 9 Network 0x19b1beb08 nw_path_release_globals + 120 10 Network 0x19b3d4fa0 nw_settings_child_has_forked() + 312 11 libsystem_pthread.dylib 0x100c8f7c8 _pthread_atfork_child_handlers + 76 12 libsystem_c.dylib 0x1943d9944 fork + 112 (...) I'm trying to create a child process with boost::process::child which does basically just a fork() followed by execv() and I do it before the - [NSApplication run] is called. Is it know bug or behavior which I've run into? Also what is a correct way to spawn child processes in Cocoa applications? As far as my understanding goes the basically all the available APIs (e.g. posix, NSTask) should be more or less the same thing calling the same syscalls. So forking the process early before main run loop starts and not starting another NSApplication in forked child should be ok ...or not?

Application crashes referencing callAsyncJavaScript
When referencing WebKit’s function callAsyncJavaScript, any iOS app crashes immediately on startup when running in simulator. On device, it does not crash. The error message is: dyld[9892]: Symbol not found: _$sSo9WKWebViewC6WebKitE19callAsyncJavaScript_9arguments2inAF17completionHandlerySS_SDySSypGSo11WKFrameInfoCSgSo14WKContentWorldCys6ResultOyyps5Error_pGcSgtF Furthermore, this only happens for some simulators. With Xcode 16.3, it’s simulators 18.0 and prior. With Xcode 16.4 RC1 it includes simulators iOS 18.5 and 18.4 but works correctly on earlier versions of simulator. The reproduction path is easy. Example file attached. This used to work about 3 weeks or a month ago, which is perplexing. As a workaround I replaced the function with evaluateJavaScript which does not crash, but that is not the desired method to use for us. The attached file can reproduce it easily - just refernece this view from the default ContentView in a new project. TestWebView.swift

unsupported option '-G' for target 'arm64-apple-ios12.0'
I had an Intel macbook and I used that to build and release my app to app store but I didn't release for 2 years. Certificates, Identifiers & Profiles not showing for team
Hello, we are struggling for hours with the following issue: I have an individual developer account and since yesterday I'm member of developer team with an own organization account. I have access to an app in the team account as an "App-Manager", also the option "Access to Certificates, Identifiers & Profiles" is activated and I can see that it is activated for my account in AppstoreConnect. In "Apple Developer" I can also see the team and can switch to. But then I do not see the "Certificates, Identifiers & Profiles" menu entry. Also the team is not showing up in XCode. What am I missing? Thanks and regards Philipp

Canvas Preview error: Could not find target description
Hi, I'm developing an iOS/WatchOS app and have an issue with Preview for WatchOS components. The error message is Could not find target description for “ContentView.swift” Preview for all other views in the iOS app work fine. Also, the app builds and runs fine on the watch simulator and a physical watch. Preview worked fine earlier today and I didn't exclude it in EXCLUDED_SOURCE_FILE_NAMES. Does anyone have an idea what causes this issue? Diagnostics

Thanks! Dennis

On the device, there is no crash, but this message is printed to the console: malloc: nano zone abandoned due to inability to reserve vm space. (Not sure if it's related.) Does anybody know what is causing the crash?

Recently a bug was reported that I needed to update the a code and make a new release with my apple silicon macbook. But I get this issue when I go to Product -> Archive. I tried updating pods, as well as adding following line to the Podfile but no change. platform :ios, "12.0" target "myApp" do use_frameworks! pod "AFNetworking" pod "KVNProgress" pod "GCDWebServer" pod "CocoaLumberjack" pod "Intercom" pod "GoogleWebRTC" pod "SAMKeychain" pod "googleapis", :path => '.' pod 'gRPC', '1.0.0' pod 'gRPC-Core', '1.0.0' pod 'gRPC-ProtoRPC', '1.0.0' pod 'gRPC-RxLibrary', '1.0.0' pod 'BoringSSL-GRPC', '0.0.7' end post_install do |installer| installer.pods_project.targets.each do |target| if target.name == 'BoringSSL-GRPC' target.source_build_phase.files.each do |file| if file.settings && file.settings['COMPILER_FLAGS'] flags = file.settings['COMPILER_FLAGS'].split flags.reject! { |flag| flag == '-GCC_WARN_INHIBIT_ALL_WARNINGS' } file.settings['COMPILER_FLAGS'] = flags.join(' ') end end end end end Nothing worked for me. What do I do now? I appreciate any help

Diagnostics
