Advice on the right Apple license for an internal app in a French high school
Hello everyone, I'm currently developing an iOS application as part of a project for a high school in France. The goal of the app is to raise students' awareness about their use of digital tools, especially by helping them better understand their screen time and how they use the iPads provided by the school. This app is intended for internal use only: it is not meant to be published on the App Store, but rather distributed through Apple School Manager to the school’s managed devices. I would like to ask: Which type of Apple Developer license would be the most appropriate for this use case? Should we go with an individual or enterprise account? Or is there a specific program for educational institutions? Thank you in advance for any advice or feedback you can share Have a great day!

Cannot Find UI to Add Core Data Database Indexes in Xcode 16.2
Hi everyone, I'm trying to add standard, non-unique database indexes to my Core Data entities for performance optimization (e.g., indexing Date or String attributes used in predicates and sort descriptors). I'm using Xcode 16.2 on macOS Sequoia 15.1. My problem is that I cannot find the expected UI element in the Core Data model editor (.xcdatamodeld) to configure these database indexes. What I Understand / Expect: I know the old "Indexed" checkbox on the Attribute Inspector is deprecated/gone. My understanding from recent documentation and tutorials is that database indexing (separate from Spotlight indexing) should be configured in the Entity Inspector (when the Entity itself is selected), within a section titled "Indexes" (usually located below "Constraints"). This "Indexes" section should allow adding individual or compound indexes that translate to SQL CREATE INDEX commands, distinct from uniqueness constraints. What I'm Experiencing: When I select an Entity in the model editor, the "Indexes" section is completely missing from the Data Model Inspector pane on the right. I see sections for Name, Class, Constraints, Spotlight, User Info, Versioning, etc., but no "Indexes" section appears between Constraints and Spotlight (or anywhere else). Troubleshooting Steps Taken: Verified Selection: I have confirmed I am selecting the Entity itself in the left-hand list, not an individual Attribute. Ruled out Spotlight Indexing: I understand the difference between database indexing (for internal query performance) and the "Index in Spotlight" checkbox/Core Spotlight framework (for system search). I specifically need the former. Basic Xcode Troubleshooting: I have tried restarting Xcode, cleaning the build folder (Shift+Command+K), and deleting the project's Derived Data. The "Indexes" section remains missing. Checked File Placement/Target Membership: Confirmed the .xcdatamodeld file is correctly included in the target. Its location in the project navigator doesn't seem relevant. Checked Model Versioning: Ensured the correct model version is set as "Current" in the File Inspector. Ruled out Other Features: Confirmed that Fetch Requests, Fetched Properties, and User Info keys are not the mechanisms for defining database indexes. Confirmed Not Project-Specific: I created a brand new, template-generated iOS App project with "Use Core Data" checked. In this new project, when selecting the default "Item" entity, the "Indexes" section is also missing from the Entity Inspector. This strongly suggests the issue is with my Xcode environment/version itself, not my specific project's setup. Considered Programmatic/Manual: I understand Core Data expects schema definitions (including indexes) declaratively in the model file. While manual XML editing of the contents file works (adding ... within the tag), this is not the desired or intended workflow via the standard tools. My Questions: What is the correct, current procedure for defining non-unique Core Data database indexes using the Xcode UI in Xcode 16.2? Has the location or method for configuring database indexes changed in this version of Xcode? If so, where is it now? Is the absence of the "Indexes" section in the Entity Inspector a known issue or intentional change for this Xcode version? If the standard UI method is unavailable, what is the officially recommended approach (other than manual XML editing)? I've reviewed the documentation ("Configuring Entities", "Configuring Attributes") and while screenshots show the inspectors, they don't definitively show the "Indexes" section within the Entity Inspector, sometimes focusing on attributes or potentially being cropped. Any clarification or guidance would be greatly appreciated!

no option for "Extended Runtime Session"
How can I enable "Extended Runtime Sessions" for a companion watch app? Here https://developer.apple.com/documentation/watchkit/using-extended-runtime-sessions in targets under 'Signing & Capabilities' I checked "Audio" and Session Type 'Mindfulness', I created an ExtendedRuntimeManager.swift file. When running a simulation the error message says "Extended Runtime Session ungültig: Reason=-1, Error=This application does not have appropriate permissions to schedule a session." How does the app get the 'appropriate permissions'?

C++ Binary Size Increase in Xcode 16 Compared to Xcode 15
I've recently upgraded my project from Xcode 15 to Xcode 16. Without changing any build settings or compiler flags, I noticed that the final executable size has increased significantly when building the same C++ code. Investigation: To investigate further, I compared the Link Map outputs from both versions of Xcode. One key difference I found: The symbol size for std::sort increased from 4,336 bytes (Xcode 15) to 6,084 bytes (Xcode 16) – a ~40% increase. This seems to be part of a broader trend where other standard library symbols are also taking up more space in the binary when built with Xcode 16. Questions: Has Apple Clang or libc++ in Xcode 16 changed the implementation of STL algorithms like std::sort? Are there changes in inlining, template instantiation, or debug info that could explain the increase? Is this expected behavior? If so, is there any guidance on minimizing the binary size regression?

Unable to Enable “Media Services (MusicKit, ShazamKit)” When Creating a Key
I am trying to integrate Apple Music API using MusicKit and need to generate a Developer Token. However, when I try to create a new key from the Certificates, Identifiers & Profiles section, the “Media Services (MusicKit, ShazamKit, Apple Music Feed)” option is grayed out. We are getting the error 'there are no identifiers available that can be associated with the key.' Although we did checkmark 'musickit' in app services. I have already: Enrolled in the paid Apple Developer Program Created a valid App ID under Identifiers Logged in as the Account Holder Tried multiple browsers and devices Despite this, the option remains disabled. Could you please enable this or let me know what further steps I need to take? Thank you!

The adventure to become a developer
I think from January 2025 I'm trying to become a developer for apple. The process was an adventure. First time I used the website to become a registered developer. All good until i wasn't able to make any inputs in a disabled required field that was required but empty. I said ok, I'll try to use their support to guide me. After couple of mails I've understood that those answers were like: "sorry for inconvenience but try again maybe you didn't do something as expected". I've restarted the process many times and did tried, nothing worked. So... go back to email with support (note, there is no quick reply, sometimes it takes near a week or so to respond: and the response is "try again, sorry to hear that, let us know if we can help you") After a month or so i got an email that told me to use the application to enroll. So I decided to use it. So I've canceled my active enroll and moved to the device. My iPad Pro didn't worked, so I moved to MacBook Pro and tried from there with the Developer App. Didn't work.... Go back to email support. After a while they told me that is an issue with my card and they can't get my money from it, (is the same that I'm using on their store to buy app and it works without any issue). After another months spent on emails (copule because of their response timing, maximum 2 reply each week) and after I said I'll do my best to find someone from their management to let them know the nightmare that I'm forced to live with the support team, they said let me call you. They called me and their tool for remote view desktop didn't worked so it was like, do this, do that, I did, I did, I tried...ok let's try one more time and don't touch anything after. I did what they said and they told me that I'll be contacted soon. 2-3 days I waited for the call and...nothing... I did sent reply email support to understand the status of enrollment. I got this: " Thanks for your message. I will be happy to provide a status update. Your orders have not been successful. I am trying once again today. Since it is Friday, it will take a little longer to process. I will check on it again on Monday, when we are back in the office. Kind regards, " And today is Tuesday and nothing... I did asked also if you can't take my money just let me know the error that you receive so I'll be able to contact card issuer and ask to verify if that is an issue with it. I did asked and they told me they don't see any issue. Now I'm stuck,,,, Do I need to contact Tim just to open a developer account? I think he's busy with more important stuff. @support

How to pay for Xcode Cloud via the Apple Developer account?
Hi, Our organisation just ran out of the included Xcode Cloud hours. I now want to upgrade (I am the account holder). There does not seem to be a way to do this on the Apple Developer and/or App Store Connect websites, as you'd expect. The Get started with Xcode Cloud page mentions that I need to use the Apple Developer app. However, when I sign up to this in the Apple Developer app, the account shown when pressing Subscribe is my personal account, not any account related to the organization: It is impossible to change the payment details. How can I use the organization account to pay for this, as I obviously do not want to get charged to my personal account? Thanks.

Errors compiling C++ code for x86_64
I have a project (that uses pre-compiled headers) that uses different compiler options for SOME files. For those files I have this is in my CMakelists.txt: if(CMAKE_C_COMPILER_ID MATCHES "GNU|Clang") set_source_files_properties(${AVX_Files} PROPERTIES COMPILE_OPTIONS "-mavx;-mavx2;-mfma;-mssse3;-msse4.2") set_source_files_properties(avx_simd_check.cpp PROPERTIES COMPILE_OPTIONS "-mxsave") endif() When I build for ARM, it all works :) When I try to build for X86_64, I get the following error for avx_simd_check.cpp: error: current translation unit is compiled with the target feature '+xsave' but the AST file was not 1 error generated. and for all the other files in question: error: current translation unit is compiled with the target feature '+avx' but the AST file was not error: current translation unit is compiled with the target feature '+avx2' but the AST file was not error: current translation unit is compiled with the target feature '+fma' but the AST file was not error: current translation unit is compiled with the target feature '+sse4.2' but the AST file was not error: current translation unit is compiled with the target feature '+ssse3' but the AST file was not 5 errors generated. Variable rename - Xcode 16.2
When renaming a variable in the active scheme, it's not renamed for the non active ones. As a result when you have code that operates in both schemes (with #if os() conditions) a compile time error is introduced. Is this an Xcode bug or expected behaviour?

App Attest Service Quota Limits
Hello, Preparing to use the app attest service documentation suggests we call attestKey(_:clientDataHash:completionHandler:) fewer than 100 requests per second. I had a question - Our app might theoretically hit this limit on launch. Would Apple be able to relax these limits or is this a hard limit?

Invalid Symlink on Kivy App
I built an app in Python with Kivy and I'm trying to bring it over to iOS. I made an Xcode project out of it that builds successfully, but it fails to install in the simulator or onto a device. There's an error about symlink, but I'm not sure how to fix it. Any advice would be appreciated. Domain: IXUserPresentableErrorDomain Code: 1 Failure Reason: Please try again later. no option for "Extended Runtime Session"

How can I solve this please? David
