App occassionally crashing while connecting to public wifi
We are using the [NEHotspotHelper supportedNetworkInterfaces] to get the Wi-Fi interface in our app, but it occasionally crashes on some devices with the following stack trace: 0 CaptiveNetwork 0x0000000221d87a4c ServerConnectionGetHandlerQueue + 0 (ServerConnection.c:509) 1 CaptiveNetwork 0x0000000221d8577c CNPluginCopySupportedInterfaces + 180 (CNPlugin.c:457) 2 NetworkExtension 0x00000001b0446618 +[NEHotspotHelper supportedNetworkInterfaces] + 32 (NEHotspotHelper.m:563) It seems like the crash is happening on apple's api of supportedNetworkInterfaces. We would like to understand the cause of the crash.

Screen Time API: How to map bundleIdentifier to ApplicationToken for DeviceActivityMonitor when FamilyActivitySelection.Application.bundleIdentifier is nil?
I'm using FamilyActivityPicker to get consent for app/category management, which returns a FamilyActivitySelection object. I serialize this FamilyActivitySelection object (just applicationTokens and categoryTokens) and pass it to my DeviceActivityMonitor extension via App Group UserDefaults. I am using the JSON encoder/decoder over PropertyList (though both seem to exhibit the same behavior). After inspecting the FamilyActivitySelection object immediately after it's returned by FamilyActivityPicker in the main app, the application.bundleIdentifier property is consistently nil for every Application object within selection.applications. Similarly, category.localizedDisplayName is nil for ActivityCategory objects. This happens whether "Select All Apps" is used or if apps/categories are selected individually. I understand that this is the intended behavior due to Apple's user privacy policies. I read on another post that my app can be provided with bundle identifiers and app names within Shield Configuration extensions and Device Activity Report extensions - I'm not sure which ones or how exactly to do this. I am aware that I can use Label(applicationToken) SwiftUI view to display the app name/icon, but this doesn't give programmatic access to the bundleIdentifier string. My app will not log or export these bundleIdentifiers outside of its sandbox. My goal is to create mappings to the FamilyActivitySelection with the publicly accessible bundleIdentifiers. Any guidance, examples, or clarification on the intended workflow for this scenario would be greatly appreciated!

iOS 18 (22G5054d) Developer Beta broke Apple CarPlay
My 2025 Hyundai Tucson SEL was doing fine with Apple CarPlay until last night's update, now it refuses to see/use CarPlay, both by bluetooth and by cable. Mind you, was working perfectly fine yesterday, it still sees my wife's phone via bluetooth and my son's phone via cable. The Tucson's last over-the-air update was 5/23/25, as in, nothing has changed with the Tucson, or my other family phones, which leaves only one variable that changed, my iPhone updating to the latest iOS developer beta.

Best current approach to detecting legacy paid app download (without relying on deprecated APIs)?
I’m trying to determine the most appropriate modern method for detecting whether a user originally downloaded a paid app (prior to transitioning the app to freemium/IAP-based access). Historically, this was done by checking for a valid App Store receipt and using SKReceiptRefreshRequest to ensure a fresh one was available. However, SKReceiptRefreshRequest and many related aspects of StoreKit receipt handling are now deprecated in iOS 17+. The current Apple documentation on receipt validation still refers to SKReceiptRefreshRequest, which makes things unclear. With so many deprecations and the push toward StoreKit 2, what’s the recommended path to: Check for a valid App Store receipt Confirm that the app was originally purchased (as a paid app, not via IAP) Persist this info to exempt the user from paywalling the app in the future I don’t need to validate purchases of IAPs — just to detect a legacy paid app download. Any guidance on best practice for this use case, preferably using non-deprecated APIs (StoreKit 2 or otherwise), would be appreciated.

The possibility of certificates renewal on "master account" without creating new merchant identity certificate and key stores.
Hello! We use Apple's "master account" scheme to register new clients trough API due to the fact that the number of merchant IDs in a developer account cannot exceed 100 records. It's been almost a year since we successfully used the master account ( ex. "merchant.com.xxx") and register clients via Postman. At the moment, the certificates for the master merchant ID start to expire on July 11 which will affect all customers which is under Master ID. We know that when updating certificates at the identifier level(our master id), new universal identity certificate files that we use to send to the merchants (merchant_id.pem, privkey.key) will be generated for authentication on the merchant side, as well as a new keystore. Since many of our clients are integrated with current files and keystores and have live traffic, we would like to know—is it possible to update certificates on the master account without changing the keystores and certificate identities? The impossibility of this will entail a large gap when switching to new certificates. Thanks in advance for your answer.

How to re-enable entitlements after App Transfer? (Location Push Service Extension)
Hi Apple team and fellow developers, We previously had Location Push Service Extension enabled and working in production. After transferring the app to a new Apple Developer team, the production App ID was transferred, but the Location Push entitlement was not retained. We've also created a new App ID for development, and now need Location Push access enabled for both the transferred production ID and the new development ID. We’ve already submitted the Location Push Access form with all relevant details. Unfortunately, the App Transfer documentation didn’t make it clear that Location Push access would be lost, and now we’re blocked from making new builds — even for the existing production app. ❓ Questions: Is it possible to re-enable Location Push for a transferred App ID? What’s the expected timeline for entitlement approval? Can Apple staff confirm the request status or let us know if any further action is needed? Thanks in advance — this entitlement is critical for our app’s functionality and release pipeline. Best, Aidar

Core Spotlight searching only for title
I just adding a way to donate my app's data to Core Spotlight using CSSearchableIndex, but I'm finding that spotlight is only searching for the title of the CSSearchableItem I create. I know the index is working, because it always finds the item through the title property, but nothing else. This is how I'm creating the CSSearchableItem: - (CSSearchableItem *) createSearchableItem { CSSearchableItemAttributeSet* attributeSet = [[CSSearchableItemAttributeSet alloc] initWithContentType: UTTypeText]; attributeSet.title = [self titleForIndex]; attributeSet.displayName = [self titleForIndex]; attributeSet.contentDescription = [self contentDescriptionForIndex]; attributeSet.thumbnailData = [self thumbnailDataForIndex]; attributeSet.textContent = [self contentDescriptionForIndex]; CSSearchableItem *item = [[CSSearchableItem alloc] initWithUniqueIdentifier: [self referenceURLString] domainIdentifier:@"com.cjournal.cjournal-Logs" attributeSet:attributeSet]; item.expirationDate = [NSDate distantFuture]; return item; } There's a lot of confusing tips around which say specifying the 'textContent' should work, and/or setting the displayName is essential, but none of these are working. Is there something I'm missing with my setup? Thanks.

Data Race in Widgets?
I've turned on Swift 6 language mode and noticed that during runtime Xcode gives this warning for a new widget (iOS 17.2): warning: data race detected: @MainActor function at TestWidgetExtension/TestWidget.swift:240 was not called on the main thread struct TestWidget: Widget { let kind: String = "TestWidget" var body: some WidgetConfiguration { AppIntentConfiguration( kind: kind, intent: ConfigurationAppIntent.self, provider: Provider() ) { entry in // LINE 240 TestWidgetEntryView(entry: entry) .containerBackground(Color.white, for: .widget) } } } Is there any way to solve this on my side? Tilde, back tick and Pipe are missing from keyboard
I opened a terminal window this morning and couldn't cd to /home. When I type a tilde, I get a paragraph symbol. Yesterday, my external keyboard could type a Pipe symbol, no such luck today. I ended up having to use hidutil to remap my keyboard and run keystrokes through terminal to restore what worked yesterday. When I look at the available English keyboards, they're all showing a paragraph symbol above the Tab key. Has anyone else run into this sudden keyboard change?

MapKit with MKTileOverlay Crashes After a Time
I'm building a weather map that shows the rain on the map. I'm able to retrieve PNG images that are used as tiles to put onto the map. I then reload all the tiles on the map with each timeframe (tile set for every 10 minutes). I'm able to get the map loaded up and I'm able to place the tiles and reload the data for each time slot. I preload all the PNG data needed for the tiles and store that NSData for them in memory so that they are quick for loading and showing on the map. I have timer's set to reload the overlay with the next set of tiles for each time slot. Giving the view of a moving precipitation map over time (just like you'd see on any weather map.) I have 12 time slots (timestamps) showing every 10 minutes for the past 2 hours. I have it showing each in sequence and then repeating. Over time I get a crash with this error as a Thread 1: signal SIGABRT. Failed to acquire drawable, rendering to temporary texture validateRenderPassDescriptor:782: failed assertion `RenderPass Descriptor Validation MTLRenderPassAttachmentDescriptor MTLStoreActionMultisampleResolve store action at attachment 0 requires resolve texture ' validateRenderPassDescriptor:782: failed assertion `RenderPass Descriptor Validation MTLRenderPassAttachmentDescriptor MTLStoreActionMultisampleResolve store action at attachment 0 requires resolve texture ' Through some searching I've discovered that this seems to be console output from Metal. I assume Metal is used for MapKit to render the overlay tiles? I'm using the same custom overlay where I set the timestamp on it and then tell it to reload. I also reuse the same MKOverlayRenderer as shown here... - (MKOverlayRenderer*)mapView:(MKMapView*)mapView rendererForOverlay:(id<MKOverlay>)overlay { if ([overlay isKindOfClass:[MKTileOverlay class]]) { if (!self.rainRenderer) { self.rainRenderer = [[MKTileOverlayRenderer alloc] initWithTileOverlay:overlay]; self.rainRenderer.alpha = 0.5; } return self.rainRenderer; } return nil; } And here's the function that reloads the overlay... - (void) updateRainFrame { self.currentFrameIndex = (self.currentFrameIndex + 1) % self.timestamps.count; if ((self.currentFrameIndex >= 0) && (self.timestamps.count > self.currentFrameIndex)) { NSLog (@"self.currentFrameIndex = %lu", self.currentFrameIndex); NSString *timestamp = self.timestamps[self.currentFrameIndex]; [self.overlay setTimestamp:timestamp]; [self.rainRenderer reloadData]; } } The time it takes to crash seems arbitrary. Sometimes it's very quick. Less than a minute. But usually it's several minutes. 10 or 20 minutes or more. Feels like some sort of race condition that's occurring. Perhaps ARC is not able to release the images for the tiles quick enough for each overlay reload? That's a wild guess but I think it's something more deeper in Metal as I feel I would see other errors related to memory availability. Some of my searches point to something about MSAA needing to be turned off in Metal to resolve this. However I have no idea how I would do that through MapKit. Any suggestions? Let me know if there is somehow a way to capture more from the crash to give more insight.

CarPlay: no banner or sound for APNs while connected, works on phone (iOS 18.0, UNNotificationCategoryOptions.allowInCarPlay)
Hi everyone! I’m integrating push notifications for a taxi-driver app and ran into a blocking CarPlay issue. When the iPhone is connected to CarPlay (wired or wireless), the push arrives on the phone without any sound and nothing is shown or announced on the CarPlay screen.

If I unplug CarPlay, the same push plays the default sound and shows a normal banner on the lock screen, so the payload itself looks valid. Environment iPhone 13 Pro, iOS 18.0 CarPlay head-unit: Xcode 16.2 CarPlay Simulator App built with Flutter 3.22 + firebase_messaging: ^15.2.5 Deployment target: iOS 14.0 Xcode capabilities enabled: Push Notifications, Time-Sensitive Notifications App settings on the device: Allow Notifications -› Sounds ON, Show in CarPlay ON Siri › Announce Notifications › CarPlay: master toggle ON + my app added to the allowed list Driving Focus = Off (same result if it’s On) Native setup in AppDelegate.swift UNUserNotificationCenter.current().requestAuthorization( options: [.alert, .sound, .badge, .carPlay] ) { _,_ in } let carPlayCategory = UNNotificationCategory( identifier: "CARPLAY_ORDER", actions: [], intentIdentifiers: [], options: [.allowInCarPlay] ) UNUserNotificationCenter.current().setNotificationCategories([carPlayCategory]) UNUserNotificationCenter.current().delegate = self application.registerForRemoteNotifications() APNs payload that I send via FCM { "aps": { "alert": { "title": "New test order", "body": "Location info test" }, "sound": "default", "category": "CARPLAY_ORDER", "interruption-level": "time-sensitive", "relevance-score": 1 } } What could be the problem? Please help me solve the error
