Received a warning from Apple regarding updating APNs ceritificate.
"As we announced in October, the Certification Authority (CA) for Apple Push Notification service (APNs) is changing. APNs will update the server certificates in sandbox on January 20, 2025, and in production on x date, 2025. To continue using APNs without interruption, you’ll need to update your application’s Trust Store to include the new server certificate: SHA-2 Root : USERTrust RSA Certification Authority certificate. To ensure a smooth transition and avoid push notification delivery failures, please make sure that both old and new server certificates are included in the Trust Store before the cut-off date for each of your application servers that connect to sandbox and production. At this time, you don’t need to update the APNs SSL provider certificates issued to you by Apple." As we are using firebase for receiving notifications and azure notification hub, I read that there is nothing we as developers need to do and will be handled by the providers right?

App Clip Closes Before SKOverlay Can Show “Open” Button When Live Activity Is Involved
I have an App Clip that uses SKOverlay.AppClipConfiguration to install the full app. Before I added a Live Activity call (Activity.request), the user could see “Install,” then “Open.” Now, once “Get” is tapped, the Clip immediately closes—no “Open” button appears. If I remove the Live Activity code, it works again. I’ve confirmed that parent/child entitlements match, and tested via TestFlight. Is there a known issue or recommended workaround for combining SKOverlay + Live Activities in an App Clip so it doesn’t dismiss prematurely? Any insights are appreciated! Note live activity is for App Clip only.

Communicating between app & ui test runner
I'd like to set up a communication mechanism between the Ui test runner and my iOS app. The purpose is to be able to collect some custom performance metrics in addition to standard ones like scrollingAndDecelerationMetric. Let's say we measure some specific intervals in our code using signposts, then serialize the result into a structured payload and report it back to the runner. So, are there any good options for that kind of IPC? The primary concern is running on Simulator. However, since it is not a regular UI test but more a performance UI test, and it is usually recommended to run those on a real device, with release optimizations/flags in place, I wonder if it is feasible to have it for device too.

WeatherKit - visibility units and height
We had a question that came up when we comparing data from WeatherKit to other sources - WeatherKit visibility was well beyond the boundaries we had historically, even from Darksky. That raises two questions: is visibility actually in meters like the docs say? is this visibility at ground level, 500ft, or some other height? We were seeing visibility numbers of up to 40 miles (after converting the number the API sent to miles), where all of our other sources are usually within 10 miles

How to remotely disable or block apps on a child’s device using FamilyControls and DeviceActivity API?
After reading Apple documentation (FamilyControls, DeviceActivity, ManagedSettings, ManagedSettingsUI, ScreenTime) and testing the API, I do not find a way to get the child's device apps on the parent device in order to block them or disable them for a certain time. Is there a way of doing it? Or can it only be done locally on the child device?

Does iPhone Xr and up support ISO 14443 Type B Tags
I am unable to get an iPhone Xr (iOS 18) or iPhone 15 to interact with Texas Instruments RF430CL330H NFC tag. This is an ISO 14443B-compliant tag supporting NDEF. It is NFC Tag Type 4. A Samsung S23 with Android 14 and NFC Tools v8.11 reads and writes NDEF data with this tag as expected. The iPhones with NFC Tools v2.31 do not. For the following comparison the NDEF memory is written with a pre-loaded text data record. NFC Tools on Android reports the following: Tag Type: ISO 14443-4 Technologies Available: IsoDep, NfcB, Ndef Serial Number: Format: NFC Forum Type 4 Text Record 1: UTF-8 (en) Hello World! NFC Tools on iOS (iPhones) reports the following: Tag Type: ISO 7816 Technologies Available: Unknown Serial Number: Format: <no entry, not listed> Text Record 1: <no entry, not listed> Error response: "This nfc tag is not supported" Attempting to write a text message with NFC Tools on the iPhones returns "An error occurred during writing process" Other NDEF records (URL and Search) written into memory with the Samsung NFC Tools are also not readable with the iPhones. The iPhones are able to obtain the tag type and serial number of the chip, so there is some limited interaction. Is there a compatibility issue with the Type B tag, or perhaps something else?

Clarification Needed on Apple Push Notification Service Server Certificate Update Requirements for Token-Based vs. Certificate-Based Authentication
Hello Apple Developer Team, Based on the mandate to update the APNs certificate by February 24, 2025 for certificate-based authentication, a question from the team has been brought up that maybe Apple or the community can help answer. Since our implementation uses token-based authentication, I’m seeking clarification on a couple of points: 1. Does the certificate update affect token-based connections at all? 2. What is the rationale behind updating certificates for certificate-based authentication, and are there any implications or benefits for developers using token-based authentication? Understanding these details will help us ensure our system remains compliant and optimally configured. Any guidance or further clarification you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

full disk access granted, but app fails to load file from user folder
i recently upgraded to sequoia, and now, more often than not, when running in the debugger, opening my database causes a hang: When i run outside the debugger, it opens just fine. I suspect it has to do with "full disk access"? but i've given my app full disk access. i've also set Qt and Xcode to have "Allow apps to use developer tools" permissions. as a test i also added my app into that permission group, all to no avail. the path to the DB being opened is in my user's Music folder, and having full disk access gives permission for everything, including things in that folder. confused!

Filtering MMS Messages with Multimedia Content (Images, Videos, etc.)
Hi Apple Developer, I’m working on a message-filtering application and reviewing Apple's documentation on message filtering. The documentation clearly states that MMS messages can be filtered. (https://developer.apple.com/documentation/identitylookup/sms-and-mms-message-filtering) When we refer to MMS, it includes images, short videos, and other supported multimedia formats. However, the ILMessageFilterQueryRequest only provides the message body as a String, meaning we can access text and links but not images or other media files. Could you please confirm whether Apple allows third-party applications to access multimedia content sent from unknown numbers? Looking forward to your quick response. Thanks, Rijul Singhal

Apple Multi-peer connectivity problems with 8+ connections
Apple multi-peer with 12 devices is unstable. Dear All, Has anyone tried Apple multi-peer with 12 devices connected? We are building an application relying on multi-peer where 12 Ipads will be updating data and each device needs to share data between. Can anyone tell me if we can use multi-peer framework for connecting 12 devices in the multi-peer network? We are facing stability problems in the connection when we connect 12 devices in the network.

Universal Links are not working
I have an iOS app where the universal links are not working. Basically, I have double-checked the AASA file, and it's formatted correctly. It's in the right location .well-known subdirectory. I have checked other things as well. For my app, if the user has forgotten their password, they click on the Forgot Password option, which sends them an email, after which they click on a link; the link should open the iOS app, but is instead opening up the web browser. The format of the link matches the formatting in the AASA file. As well, I've checked associated domains as well. Using Postman, I can see that the AASA file is accessible. I have a feeling that the iOS app cannot fetch the AASA file, as I don't see any relevant swcd logs. My AASA file is located at: https://www.COMPANY_NAME.ca/.well-known/apple-app-site-association Please advise.

NSPersistentCloudKitContainer uploads only a subset of records to public database in production environment
I'm having some issues where only a subset of records appear in CloudKit dashboard after I have saved some records in my iOS app using NSPersistentCloudKitContainer. I have noticed that when I'm running my app using the development environment of my CloudKit container everything works smoothly and is uploaded as expected but when I'm using the production environment only a subset of records are actually uploaded. I'm pulling my hair on how to debug this. -com.apple.CoreData.CloudKitDebug and -com.apple.CoreData.SQLDebug pukes out too much info in the console for me to pinpoint any issue.
