New features for APNs token authentication now available
Team-scoped keys introduce the ability to restrict your token authentication keys to either development or production environments. Topic-specific keys in addition to environment isolation allow you to associate each key with a specific Bundle ID streamlining key management. For detailed instructions on accessing these features, read our updated documentation on establishing a token-based connection to APNs.

wifi connect fail
Dear Apple: In our app, we will call the - (void) applyConfiguration:(NEHotspotConfiguration *) configuration completionHandler:(void (^)(NSError * error)) completionHandler; interface of NEHotspotConfigurationManager on Apple devices. However, we are encountering a problem where the connection to the 2.4G hotspot fails, and the error is nil when it fails. We checked the Wi-Fi air interface and found that the Apple phone does not send a probe request before connecting to the hotspot. However, we are unclear why the Apple device does not send the probe request frame. Could you please help us understand when the probe request frame is not sent during the hotspot connection and how to trigger it to send the probe request frame every time? Thank you.

NSMetadataQuery not searching subdirectories in external ubiquity container
Testing Environment: iOS 18.4.1 / macOS 15.4.1 I am working on an iOS project that aims to utilize the user's iCloud Drive documents directory to save a specific directory-based file structure. Essentially, the app would create a root directory where the user chooses in iCloud Drive, then it would populate user generated files in various levels of nested directories. I have been attempting to use NSMetadataQuery with various predicates and search scopes but haven't been able to get it to directly monitor changes to files or directories that are not in the root directory. Instead, it only monitors files or directories in the root directory, and any changes in a subdirectory are considered an update to the direct children of the root directory. Example iCloud Drive Documents (Not app's ubiquity container) User Created Root Directory (Being monitored) File A Directory A File B An insertion or deletion within Directory A would only return a notification with userInfo containing data for NSMetadataQueryUpdateChangedItemsKey relating to Directory A, and not the file or directory itself that was inserted or deleted. (Query results array also only contain the direct children.) I have tried all combinations of these search scopes and predicates with no luck: query.searchScopes = [ rootDirectoryURL, NSMetadataQueryUbiquitousDocumentsScope, NSMetadataQueryAccessibleUbiquitousExternalDocumentsScope, ] NSPredicate(value: true) NSPredicate(format: "%K LIKE '*.md'", NSMetadataItemFSNameKey) NSPredicate(format: "%K BEGINSWITH %@", NSMetadataItemPathKey, url.path(percentEncoded: false)) I do see these warnings in the console upon starting my query: [CRIT] UNREACHABLE: failed to get container URL for com.apple.CloudDocs [ERROR] couldn't fetch remote operation IDs: NSError: Cocoa 257 "The file couldn’t be opened because you don’t have permission to view it." "Error returned from daemon: Error Domain=com.apple.accounts Code=7 "(null)"" But I am not sure what to make of that, since it does act normally for finding updates in the root directory. Hopefully this isn't a limitation of the API, as the only alternative I could think of would be to have multiple queries running for each nested directory that I needed updates for.

LocalDictionary spelling adding words
Sorry if topic is not exact. I write Ainu in various Roman Latin scripts on English GUI Catalina ,Text Edit. The Ainu words are similar to English ex. 'an' in Ainu is 'exist' ,Ainu Language exists 'Ne Ainu itak an ',so spell checker will not red dot many words also some Ainu words look like other foreign words. I open LocalDictionary and find it blank ,so I open TextEdit and open show spelling grammar 100 words out of 200 are red dotted !the others are not learned, so I press' learn' and it skips to some words not Allan after 100 it stops ,then I go to LocalDictionary and see all those words alphabetical order ,! great ! but what about the rest ? why does select half of the words and /part/ of a phrase/ 'Itak a-e-yay-/han-nok-kar-a' = to study language by oneself.

Export/Import data with SwiftData
Hi ! Would anyone know (if possible) how to create backup files to export and then import from the data recorded by SwiftData? For those who wish, here is a more detailed explanation of my case: I am developing a small management software with customers and events represented by distinct classes. I would like to have an "Export" button to create a file with all the instances of these 2 classes and another "Import" button to replace all the old data with the new ones from a previously exported file. I looked for several solutions but I'm a little lost...

NSXPCListener only working while Debugging `listener failed to activate: xpc_error=[1: Operation not permitted]`
I am building a Mac app that launch a GUI helper app and use XPC to communicate between them. Main app start a XPC Listener using NSXPCListener(machServiceName: "group.com.mycompany.myapp.xpc") Launch the helper app Helper app connect to the XPC service and listen command from main app. What I observe is the app seems can start XPC listener while I run it via Xcode. If I run the app using TestFlight build, or via the compiled debug binary (same one that I use on Xcode), it cannot start the XPC service. Here is what I see in the Console: [0x600000ef7570] activating connection: mach=true listener=true peer=false name=group.com.mycompany.myapp.xpc [0x600000ef7570] listener failed to activate: xpc_error=[1: Operation not permitted] Both main app and helper app are sandboxed and in the same App Group - if they were not, I cannot connect the helper app to main app. I can confirm the entitlement profiles did contain the app group. If I start the main app via xcode, and then launch the helper app manually via Finder, the helper app can connect to the XPC and everything work. It is not related to Release configuration, as the same binary work while I am debugging, but not when I open the binary manually. For context, the main app is a Catalyst app, and helper app is an AppKit app. To start a XPC listener on Catalyst, I had do it in a AppKit bridge via bundle. Given the app worked on Xcode, I believe this approach can work. I just cannot figure out why it only work while I am debugging. Any pointer to debug this issue is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Non-functioning IP_RECVIF on sockets proxied with NETransparentProxyProvider
Hi! I've noticed that the IP_RECVIF socket option, i.e.: int y = 1; setsockopt(fd, IPPROTO_IP, IP_RECVIF, &y, sizeof(y)); does not seem to work if the socket is proxied by a NETransparentProxyProvider type network extension: there's no ancillary data in messages received with recvmsg. As soon as I disable the network extension, recvmsg starts returning ancillary data containing the interface name. This seems to break some applications which rely on IP_RECVIF in the presence of a transparent proxy, making it, in fact, not transparent. One such example is Apple's own libresolv, which relies on IP_RECVIF and breaks if there's no ancillary data in the recvmsg result. I don't think that this is the intended behaviour, since IPV6_PKTINFO seems to work fine. I've filed a bug report (FB17586550) about this, however, I would greatly appreciate if someone could point me in the direction of a workaround.

Matter request extension no long working for Thread devices
My app has been working fine until just recently, now it can not add Matter devices over Thread (Wifi commissioning still works). I didn't change anything on my side, so not sure if an update maybe changed things? In any case, reading through my logs (and i have the matter/thread debug profiles installed). it seems like the device is added to the thread network fine, and it looks to me like the phone is successfully commissioning the device to the Apple setup fabric, but then it seems to choke on this line and i don't think the device is actually added to the keychain/matter db, so it fails later on . error 12:18:03.369036-0700 homed [2610726604/1195614123(679130348)] failed to find metric hmmtrAccessoryMetricNameCommissioningAccessory to complete I can confirm the device does join my thread border router as its pingable, and it does not seem to be in setup mode anymore (light stops flashing), so i assume it thinks its commissioned. The device i'm pairing is a Onvis (matter certified) outlet to an espressif build of a OTBR. My phone is running 18.4.1 if that matters (no pun intended) . I have also cleared out existing Matter pairings from the phone, as well ensured the device was factory reset before every try. Here is a snippet of the log towards the end where is looks like pairing works, but then errors out. DeviceDiscoveryUI notification for iPad says iPhone?
I have been polishing an app that connects and communicates between a tvOS app I created and a iPadOS app that I also created. Connection works fantastic! However, for some reason when the user selects the button to open the DevicePicker provided by this API and then selects a iPad device the notification that comes across the the iPad reads, "Connect your Apple TV to "AppName" on this iPhone. Is this a bug or am I missing some configuration in maybe Info.plist or a modifier I need to add the DevicePicker for it to communicate the proper device identification? I have everything setup in both app Info.plist files to connect and work fine, but the notification saying iPhone on an iPad is sadly a small detail I would love to change. So...not sure if I found a bug or if I am missing something.

Can't change iPhone watch app complication picker app name
I have an objective-c watch app and have added a swift widget style compilation to it and am having problems. The complication works fine but the name in the iPhone watch app complication picker stubbornly remains as the watchkit app name despite me trying various ways of changing it. Here are the various CF bundle name and display name values I am using: phone app values CFBundleIdentifier - com.Distribution-Systems-Associates.Tennis-Watch-v1 CFBundleName - $(PRODUCT_NAME) CFBundleDisplayName - Tennis Scorekeeper watchkit app CFBundleIdentifier - com.Distribution-Systems-Associates.Tennis-Watch-v1.watchkitapp CFBundleName - Tennis Scorekeeper CFBundleDisplayName - Tennis Scorekeeper WatchKit extension CFBundleIdentifier - com.Distribution-Systems-Associates.Tennis-Watch-v1.watchkitapp.watchkitextension CFBundleName - Tennis Scorekeeper CFBundleDisplayName - Tennis Scorekeeper __Watchkit complication __ CFBundleIdentifier - com.Distribution-Systems-Associates.Tennis-Watch-v1.watchkitapp.watchkitextension.Tennis-Watch-V1-Complication Changing the values in the complication doesn't seem to matter. Every other name in both my iPhone and watch apps are as expected. ChatGPT suggested that I try adding a localized name in the watchkit app but that didn't seem to do much of anything useful. I have run this though Chat quite a bit to see if I could get any accidental insights that way and while it has been interesting, it has also been not terribly helpful. I didn't post any of the complication code because that seems to be fine. However, I can do that if needed. The complication works as intended (starts the app). The various names everywhere else show up as intended. It's just that this one name refuses to be overridden. Thoughts?

StoreKit.product.purchase returns success, but subscription does not appear in Settings
Description: We are developing an iOS app that offers only one auto-renewable subscription. Recently, a user who had not subscribed for over a year purchased the subscription again through our app. However, when they checked Settings > Subscriptions, the new subscription did not appear. Instead, only their past subscription history was visible, and there was no option to cancel the new subscription. We have verified this issue with a screenshot provided by the user. Additionally, we checked our app’s logs and confirmed that StoreKit.product.purchase successfully returned .success, indicating that the purchase was processed correctly. Code used for purchase: let result = try await product? .purchase(options: [ .appAccountToken(uuid) ]) switch result { case .success(let verificationResult): switch verificationResult { case .verified(let transaction): addPurchaseLog("verificationResult.verified.") case .unverified(_, let verificationError): addPurchaseLog("verificationResult.unverified.") case .userCancelled, .pending, .none: addPurchaseLog("verificationResult.userCancelled or .pending or .none") @unknown default: addPurchaseLog("verificationResult.unknown.") } Despite the successful purchase, the new subscription does not appear under the user's active subscriptions. Could this be a bug in StoreKit? If there are any known issues or workarounds, we would appreciate any guidance. Environment: Xcode: 16.2 iOS version: 16.0+

Terminal Command to get the same file count as Get Info in finder
Hi All, I am looking for a terminal command to get the exact same output as the file count you recieve when using Get Info in finder. The closest i can get is using the find command with flags: find 'path/to/folder' -not -path '*/\.*' -and -not -path '*\.key/*' -and -not -path '*\.numbers/*' -and -not -path '*\.pages/*' -and -not -path '*__MACOSX/*' -and -not -path '*\.pdf/*' -and -not -path '*\.app/*' -and -not -path '*\.rtfd/*' | wc -l I will be searching on an external volume that sometimes produces keynote save files that finder sometimes sees as a package and sometimes sees as a folder. If a folder finder counts the items contained if a package it doesn't, I need the command or script to mimic this behaviour. In the example of the screenshot get info on the top folder produces a count of 14 and the find command produces a count of 23. There are also other behaviours that differ the file count between them but i'm not sure what causes them. Any help on a solution it being a command or script would be much apreciated. Thanks, James

URLSessionDownloadTaskDelegate functions not called when using URLSession.download(for:), but works when using URLSession.downloadTask(with:)
I'm struggling to understand why the async-await version of URLSession download task APIs do not call the delegate functions, whereas the old non-async version that returns a reference to the download task works just fine. Here is my sample code: class DownloadDelegate: NSObject, URLSessionDownloadDelegate { func urlSession(_ session: URLSession, downloadTask: URLSessionDownloadTask, didWriteData bytesWritten: Int64, totalBytesWritten: Int64, totalBytesExpectedToWrite: Int64) { // This only prints the percentage of the download progress. let calculatedProgress = Float(totalBytesWritten) / Float(totalBytesExpectedToWrite) let formatter = NumberFormatter() formatter.numberStyle = .percent print(formatter.string(from: NSNumber(value: calculatedProgress))!) } } // Here's the VC. final class DownloadsViewController: UIViewController { private let url = URL(string: "https://pixabay.com/get/g0b9fa2936ff6a5078ea607398665e8151fc0c10df7db5c093e543314b883755ecd43eda2b7b5178a7e613a35541be6486885fb4a55d0777ba949aedccc807d8c_1280.jpg")! private let delegate = DownloadDelegate() private lazy var session = URLSession(configuration: .default, delegate: delegate, delegateQueue: nil) // for the async-await version private var task: Task<Void, Never>? // for the old version private var downloadTask: URLSessionDownloadTask? override func viewWillAppear(_ animated: Bool) { super.viewWillAppear(animated) task?.cancel() task = nil task = Task { let (_, _) = try! await session.download(for: URLRequest(url: url)) self.task = nil } // If I uncomment this, the progress listener delegate function above is called. // downloadTask?.cancel() // downloadTask = nil // downloadTask = session.downloadTask(with: URLRequest(url: url)) // downloadTask?.resume() } } What am I missing here?

Mac App Store TestFlight not available when using non-Xcode developer tools
@Quinn, The application which is not made with Xcode, has a provision profile, but App Store Connect says "Not Available for Testing". My Googlefu appears weak as I can't seem to figure out why this is, except that it mentions you need to be using Xcode 13 or newer. Am guessing Xcode is adding some meta data to the Info.plist file which TestFlight requires. Is it possible to know which keys and values are required to satisfy TestFlight? If it's not plist keys, is there something else that's needed, that can be shared? We can do this privately if desired.

Advanced commerce API - dynamic subscriptions
Hello, We have been approved for the Advanced commerce API and we are trying to implement dynamically created subscriptions via the SubscriptionCreateRequest. We followed the Sending Advanced Commerce API requests from your app (https://developer.apple.com/documentation/storekit/sending-advanced-commerce-api-requests-from-your-app) documentation but we are not able to make it work correctly. We created a generic subscription in the Appstore connect, product ID: com.example.subscription Then in the app we load the subscription: try await Product.products(for: ["com.example.subscription"]) We do the JWS serialization on our backend and then we wrap the jwt and convert it to Data in the app as this: let request = """ { "signatureInfo": { "token": "\(result.signedPayload)" } } """ let advancedCommerceRequestData = Data(request.utf8) Lastly, we apply the purchase options on the generic product as this: try await product.purchase( options: [ Product.PurchaseOption.custom( key: "advancedCommerceData", value: advancedCommerceRequestData ) ] ) It doesn't show any error, but on the payment sheet it shows the data from the generic subscription and not the data that was in the SubscriptionCreateRequest. Here is an example of the generated jwt: eyJraWQiOiI4V0tNQjhLWTI0IiwidHlwIjoiSldUIiwiYWxnIjoiRVMyNTYifQ.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.kJ0f_q2A11Mn9OBmvX6SRmtW5P--volFTVcq_Gohs3N51ECfZqS3WHOxOZc7aojq_qiUHGFp_evmHP51f3LzSw

NFC HCE CardSession.isSupported crash
I am getting report of a crash occurring, while doing a NFC HCE CardSession. The swift code is mostly the same as the example from the CardSession docs: @objc func deviceSupportsNFC (_ call: CAPPluginCall) { call.keepAlive = true let supportsNFCCallbackId = call.callbackId! Task() { guard NFCReaderSession.readingAvailable, CardSession.isSupported, // <-- line 86 await CardSession.isEligible else { print(TAG + " HCE not allowed/available") var support = JSObject() support["supported"] = false; let callback = bridge?.savedCall(withID: supportsNFCCallbackId) call.resolve(); callback?.resolve(support); return; } print(TAG + " HCE allowed") var support = JSObject() support["supported"] = true; let callback = bridge?.savedCall(withID: supportsNFCCallbackId) call.resolve(); callback?.resolve(support); } } Calling it from my plugin, to verify if (HCE) NFC is supported: if(await deviceInfoService.isIos()) { if(iosSupportEnabled === false) { console.log("NfcHceService:iOS but disabled"); return; } this.requiresManualTrigger = true; DfsNfcHce.deviceSupportsNFC((supportObj) => { const support = supportObj?.supported ?? false; this.hceSupported = support; }); } else { this.hceSupported = true; } The crash report i get via Crashlytics is below. New features for APNs token authentication now available

How Can I Check if a FD is Guarded?
How does one check if a file descriptor is guarded? Is there any guarded FD numbers that are determinate? I've seen 12 being NPOLICY in a few things -- is there documentation for which FDs might be guarded? Thanks. The platform is Mac Catalyst.

I am getting report of a crash occurring, while doing a NFC HCE CardSession. The swift code is mostly the same as the example from the CardSession docs: @objc func deviceSupportsNFC (_ call: CAPPluginCall) { call.keepAlive = true let supportsNFCCallbackId = call.callbackId! Task() { guard NFCReaderSession.readingAvailable, CardSession.isSupported, // <-- line 86 await CardSession.isEligible else { print(TAG + " HCE not allowed/available") var support = JSObject() support["supported"] = false; let callback = bridge?.savedCall(withID: supportsNFCCallbackId) call.resolve(); callback?.resolve(support); return; } print(TAG + " HCE allowed") var support = JSObject() support["supported"] = true; let callback = bridge?.savedCall(withID: supportsNFCCallbackId) call.resolve(); callback?.resolve(support); } } Calling it from my plugin, to verify if (HCE) NFC is supported: if(await deviceInfoService.isIos()) { if(iosSupportEnabled === false) { console.log("NfcHceService:iOS but disabled"); return; } this.requiresManualTrigger = true; DfsNfcHce.deviceSupportsNFC((supportObj) => { const support = supportObj?.supported ?? false; this.hceSupported = support; }); } else { this.hceSupported = true; } The crash report i get via Crashlytics is below.
