I have a target that dynamically generates the modulemap when new headers are added. Is there a way to specify for the target that uses that modulemap to wait for this modulemap file?
I have two targets: Library and Generate-Library-Modulemap I use a modulemap to help bridge the Objective-C++ code to Swift. Generate-Library-Modulemap is set up to run only when new headers are added (this is done reliably through some trickery). This seems to work, but the problem is that if I add Generate-Library-Modulemap as a dependency of Library, it seems that by the time Library Generate-Library-Modulemap is run, the Library target has already loaded up an outdated modulemap file. The result is my first attempt to build after adding headers is that the framework fails, as even though the modulemap was generated, it was not attached to the framework. The second attempt succeeds as it reads the updated modulemap. Is there any way to force Xcode to run the Generate-Library-Modulemap step before starting on Library? Or perhaps attach the modulemap after the fact?

Is it possible to set the Derived Data location differently for different projects?
Within Xcode's settings location section is a drop down menu to switch between setting the derived data location to be default, relative or custom. However its a global setting. I work on more than one project simultaneously, and for one of them I want the location set to relative, but default for all the others. Is there any way of achieving that?

Trouble Distributing iOS + WatchOS App as a Bundle (Info.plist / Target Confusion)
Hi all, I’m running into an issue with my iOS + Apple Watch app project, and I could really use some advice. My WatchOS app requires an iOS companion for settings and configuration, so both apps need to be distributed together. Here’s how I structured my Xcode project: Main iOS App target WatchOS App target WatchOS Extension target However, I’m very confused about how these targets interact, and things are not working as expected. The problem: I can build and run the WatchOS app and its extension independently in the simulator by selecting their schemes. When I select the main iOS app scheme, I get an error about ITSWatchOnlyContainer in the Info.plist—even though there’s no Info tab for that target in Xcode. I’m able to distribute the WatchOS app by itself, and the extension as well. But I can’t distribute them bundled together as a single package, and I haven’t found any clear resources that explain how to fix this. This is my very first app, and it’s frustrating to get stuck just before the finish line! Project Structure / steps to reproduce Let’s say my project is called MyAppProject, with these targets: MyAppProject Main iOS App Embedded target: MyAppProject Watch App Bundle identifier: com.example.MyAppProject MyAppProject Watch App WKCompanionAppBundleIdentifier: com.example.MyAppProject “Requires iOS App”: YES MyAppProject Extension Bundle identifier: com.example.MyAppProject When running from the MyAppProject scheme, I get this error (even though I can’t see or edit the Info.plist in Xcode for this target): “Please try again later. This app has the ITSWatchOnlyContainer key set in its Info.plist, which identifies it as a shell app surrounding a Watch-only app; these are not installable.” As a result, I can’t distribute the app as a bundle. I’d appreciate help understanding: How should the Info.plist files be configured for each target? What do I do if the Info.plist path seems missing in the Xcode UI? Is there a “correct” way to structure an iOS + WatchOS app for bundled distribution?

iOS app build error with iOS 18 SDK and Xcode 16
Hi, I am able to build my iOS app successfully, developed in objective-C with iOS 17.5 SDK and Xcode 15. Due to requirement of Appstore we are trying to build with iOS 18 SDK and Xcode 16. When building getting error in LAEnvironmentState.h file: a) "Property requires field to be named" b) "Expected member name or ';' after declaration specifiers" Same app when opening with Xcode 15 gets build without any issue. Any help/suggestion would be appreciated.

watchOS-Questions about HealthKit privileges

Ethernet TSO Issues After Sequoia Update
I have a service that has been running on a 3x cluster of headless M1 Mac Studios since Ventura, and before that on headless Mac minis since Monterey. Now, after updating the Studios from Sonoma to Sequoia, response times have slowed to a crawl. For example, generating and sending a 150KB PDF file normally takes around 20 milliseconds. Now it takes over 15 SECONDS! The daemon code didn't change between updates. The issue seems to center around TSO on the ethernet port. Connecting via a port without TSO works as expected. But the 10 GB ethernet port on the Studio has built-in TSO. I've tried to disable TSO using sudo sysctl -w net.inet.tcp.tso=0. This works for an hour or so before the daemon eventually becomes unresponsive. At this point the daemon has to be terminated and restarted. So for now I'm having to use cheap USB-C to Ethernet adapters to connect the Mac Studios. Is there a configuration setting I'm missing for proper TSO in Network Framework?

Script to modify CFBundleVersion
I am using a script originally developed by Tommy in 2014. It updates the info.plist value for CFBundleVersion. Latest version of Xcode 16.4 modifies the behavior of the script. If I clean the build folder, the value is set by the script that runs after Copy Bundle Resources and modifies the info.plist file in the Debug version of the app. Subsequent runs using the same build seem to execute the script but the info.plist value reverts to the value set in the source directory. The script calculates a value based on the number of revisions to the current branch.

How can one suppress SF Symbol deprecation warnings?
Xcode 16 insists on showing deprecations of this type: Some.xib SF Symbol 'doc.on.doc' is deprecated, use 'document.on.document' instead. The problem is that the XIBs in question are set with a Deployment Target of macOS 12, where "document.on.document" actually isn't available and produces a missing image. So the warnings are wrong, as they ignore the deployment target set on the XIB. I filed a bug against this long ago and it was ignored. Having given up... does anyone know how to disable this particular warning?

Only see "Personal team" although I've been added to my company team
Hello, I've been added as an "App Manager" to a team of my company to which the app I'm developing belongs. I've received the invite e-mail, done all required step. On the websites (Apple Developer and App Store Connect), everything to be fine: I properly appear as a member of the team, I see the application, I can edit it. However, when I log in in Xcode with that account, I only see the "Personal team". Therefore, I got the error "Failed Registering Bundle Identifier" (which makes sense since the app belongs to the team of my company, not to my Personal team). Since the Apple ID I used is my personal Apple ID (which happens to be my personal email address), and I already done some stuff with it, I feared that there was a problem with this particular Apple ID. Therefore, we tried to add me to the team with my professional email address. This time, we added this address as a Developer in the Team. But still the same problem: When I tried to log in in Xcode with that 2nd address, I still only see the Personal team. Note that professional email address has never been used on any Apple product before. I also tried to log out / log in multiple times, restarting XCode, and still the same problem. What are we missing? How can I be able to select the right team in Xcode?

"package" documents on iCloud Drive don't work in Simulator
Running macOS 15.4.1, Simulator 16.0 (1042.1), various iOS devices (iPhone 16, iPad 13" M4) I log into iCloud and enable iCloud Drive. Running the Files app, I noticed that I can click on "flat" documents (PDF, JPEG, etc) and they work. However, when I click on "package" documents (e.g. represented by a directory behind the scenes), I get a normal download progress, but then an alert "The operation could not be completed. No such file or directory". This seems to happen with all package documents, e.g. Keynote documents or Reality Composer objcap documents. It does not happen on actual devices logged into the same account. I've tried completely deleting and rebuilding the simulator instances in question, with no success.

UI Automation not waiting on WatchOS?
On my MacBook Pro M4 with macOS 15.5 and Xcode 16.4, I have a simple SwiftUI-based WatchOS application consisting of a NavigationSplitView that displays a short List of items, and a detail view consisting of a TabView {...}.tabViewStyle(.verticalPage) that displays a fixed number of "pages" of detailed information about the selected list item. When I use XCTest UI Automation with XCUIApplication(), I am finding that I need to add a sleep(1) after every interaction, such as a .tap() or .swipeUp() before I can attempt any assertion such as XCTAssertGreaterThan(app.cells.count, 3) to ensure that the top level List of items is more than 3. All the added sleep(1) statements are making the tests very slow... It appears that the WatchOS implementation of UI Automation lacks the ability to wait until the UI event queue is idle. Am I the only one seeing this?

Unity (IL2CPP) iOS Build: "_placeGeoAnchor" Undefined Symbol for Architecture arm64
Hi all, I’m running into a persistent linker error when building my Unity 6 project (IL2CPP, iOS target) that calls a Swift method via an Objective-C++ wrapper. Despite following all known steps, I keep getting: Undefined symbols for architecture arm64: "_placeGeoAnchor", referenced from: _GeoAnchorTrigger_placeGeoAnchor in libGameAssembly.a ... ld: symbol(s) not found for architecture arm64 I’m trying to place a persistent AR anchor at real-world GPS coordinates (so that the same asset can appear at the same location for a returning user). Since I’m targeting iOS, I can’t use Google’s geospatial anchors (but I sooo wish I could--please apple I beg of you stop being so selfish lol). I've already done these things: Swift file is added to Unity-iPhone target. .mm and .h files are in Unity-iPhone target under Compile Sources. Bridging header is set to Unity-iPhone-Bridging-Header.h. Generated header name is correct (GeoTest-Swift.h). Build Active Architecture Only set to No. Function has attribute((visibility("default"))). Unity project uses IL2CPP scripting backend. Yet I'm still getting the same linker error — it appears Unity (via IL2CPP) references the function, but Xcode doesn't link it. It’s something small that’s being missed with how IL2CPP links native symbols? Or maybe I need to explicitly include something in Link Binary With Libraries? I’ve verified symbol visibility and targets repeatedly. I’ve built AR features in Unity before (for Quest), but this is my first time trying to bridge C# → Objective-C++ → Swift in this way for a geolocation-based AR anchor for an iphone. I'm going crazy, I’ve been stuck on this for 12+ hours now, so any insight or nudge would be deeply appreciated. SPECS: Macbook Pro M4 Pro--Sequoia 15.4 Unity 6000.0.45f1 IPhone 11 iOS 18.4 Xcode 15

unsupported option '-G' for target 'arm64-apple-ios12.0'
I had an Intel macbook and I used that to build and release my app to app store but I didn't release for 2 years. Recently a bug was reported that I needed to update the a code and make a new release with my apple silicon macbook. But I get this issue when I go to Product -> Archive. I tried updating pods, as well as adding following line to the Podfile but no change. platform :ios, "12.0" target "myApp" do use_frameworks! pod "AFNetworking" pod "KVNProgress" pod "GCDWebServer" pod "CocoaLumberjack" pod "Intercom" pod "GoogleWebRTC" pod "SAMKeychain" pod "googleapis", :path => '.' pod 'gRPC', '1.0.0' pod 'gRPC-Core', '1.0.0' pod 'gRPC-ProtoRPC', '1.0.0' pod 'gRPC-RxLibrary', '1.0.0' pod 'BoringSSL-GRPC', '0.0.7' end post_install do |installer| installer.pods_project.targets.each do |target| if target.name == 'BoringSSL-GRPC' target.source_build_phase.files.each do |file| if file.settings && file.settings['COMPILER_FLAGS'] flags = file.settings['COMPILER_FLAGS'].split flags.reject! { |flag| flag == '-GCC_WARN_INHIBIT_ALL_WARNINGS' } file.settings['COMPILER_FLAGS'] = flags.join(' ') end end end end end Nothing worked for me. What do I do now? I appreciate any help
