XCode reverts CoreData's .xccurrentversion
I am experiencing an issue where XCode reverts .xccurrentversion file in my iOS app to the first version whenever xcodebuild is run or whenever XCode is started. This means I can build the app and run tests in XCode if I discard the reversion .xccurrentversion on XCode start. However, testing on CI is impossible because the version the tests rely on are reverted whenever xcodebuild is run. The commands I run to reproduce the issue ❯ git status Changes not staged for commit: (use "git add <file>..." to update what will be committed) (use "git restore <file>..." to discard changes in working directory) modified: Path/.xccurrentversion no changes added to commit (use "git add" and/or "git commit -a") ❯ git checkout "Path/.xccurrentversion" Updated 1 path from the index ❯ git status nothing to commit, working tree clean ❯ xcodebuild \ -scheme Scheme \ -configuration Configuration \ -sdk iphonesimulator \ -destination 'platform=iOS Simulator,name=iPhone 16 Pro,OS=latest' \ -skipPackagePluginValidation \ -skipMacroValidation \ test > /dev/null # test fails because model version is reverted ❯ git status HEAD detached at pull/249/merge Changes not staged for commit: (use "git add <file>..." to update what will be committed) (use "git restore <file>..." to discard changes in working directory) modified: Path/.xccurrentversion no changes added to commit (use "git add" and/or "git commit -a") I have experienced such issue in 16.3 (16E140) and 16.2 (16C5032a). Similar issues/solutions I have found online are the following. But they are either not relevant or do not work in my case. https://stackoverflow.com/questions/17631587/xcode-modifies-current-coredata-model-version-at-every-launch https://github.com/CocoaPods/Xcodeproj/issues/81 Is anyone aware of any solution? Is there a recommended way I can run diagnostics on XCode and file a feedback?

Xcode 15 and "reexported library couldn't be matched with any parent library" warnings
I updated my project (a Swift-based Screen Saver) from Xcode 14 to 15, and while the project works fine, I'm seeing a bunch of warnings during the link phase like this: ld: warning: reexported library with install name '/System/Library/Frameworks/ApplicationServices.framework/Versions/A/Frameworks/SpeechSynthesis.framework/Versions/A/SpeechSynthesis' found at '/Applications/Xcode.app/Contents/Developer/Platforms/MacOSX.platform/Developer/SDKs/MacOSX.sdk/System/Library/Frameworks/ApplicationServices.framework/Versions/A/Frameworks/SpeechSynthesis.framework/Versions/A/SpeechSynthesis.tbd' couldn't be matched with any parent library and will be linked directly Am I doing something wrong? Can I safely suppress these warnings?

EXC_BAD_ACCESS if Address or Thread Sanitizer is enabled

Xcode 16.3 - very slow to run on simulator
Build and run on simulator is suddenly very slow since Xcode 16.3. The build is normal, but the run part launches the simulator and sits and waits 5, 10, 15, sometimes 20 seconds before anything happens. During that time, the screen is blank on the simulator and the console output is blank in Xcode. What's going on here? Is there a fix or work-around? EDIT: If I turn off the debugger, so it just runs without attaching it, the launch happens instantly.

Upload Symbols Failed when Archiving with Xcode 16
Hello everyone, We are seeing some warnings in Xcode 16 when I archive my iOS app for distribution. During the upload phase (either via Xcode Organizer ), I get an error like: WARNING: Upload Symbols Failed The archive did not include a dSYM for MyFramework.framework with the UUIDs: XXXXXXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXXXXXXXXXX Ensure that the archive’s dSYM folder includes a DWARF file for MyFramework.framework with the expected UUIDs. Question: How can these warnings be fixed? Is this warning safe to ignore if I know the vendor does not supply a dSYM for their framework? If I do need a proper dSYM for full symbolication, how should I request it from the vendor or generate it myself from an XCFramework?

Previews globally fail with CouldNotLoadInputObjectFile error
Whenever I try to use SwiftUI previews, the preview fails with a CouldNotLoadInputObjectFile error like this: == PREVIEW UPDATE ERROR: FailedToLaunchAppError: Failed to launch com.my-company.Test | ================================== | | [Remote] CouldNotLoadInputObjectFile: Could not load object file during preview: /Users/me/Library/Developer/Xcode/DerivedData/Test-dzmdthicvcbuwkawncuacsomcdcd/Build/Intermediates.noindex/Test.build/Debug-iphonesimulator/Test.build/Objects-normal/arm64/TestApp.o | | | | path: /Users/me/Library/Developer/Xcode/DerivedData/Test-dzmdthicvcbuwkawncuacsomcdcd/Build/Intermediates.noindex/Test.build/Debug-iphonesimulator/Test.build/Objects-normal/arm64/TestApp.o | | | | ================================== | | | [Remote] XOJITError | | | | | | XOJITError: '/Users/me/Library/Developer/Xcode/DerivedData/Test-dzmdthicvcbuwkawncuacsomcdcd/Build/Intermediates.noindex/Test.build/Debug-iphonesimulator/Test.build/Objects-normal/arm64/TestApp.o': No such file or directory It appears that the preview process cannot find the compiled .o files. However, when I check in Finder, the files do exist and normally running the app works fine. It is noteworthy that this is independent of the XCode project or view I try to preview. It is a global issue on my system. Previews not even work when I create a blank new SwiftUI project in XCode. I tried deleting all caches, derived data, preview caches etc. But without any effect. I have this in XCode 16.3 as well as in 16.4 RC. On macOS Sequoia 15.4.1 on a MacBook Air M4. Does anybody have an idea what might be causing this?

XCode 13 - No Help Book
I recently switched to Mac OS 12 and XCode 13. I did some work on my application and rebuilt it. Now there is no Help Book. I didn't change the property lists and everything looks right. When I open the Help Book the application either opens a window with a message that the content is currently unavailable or it opens a Help Book window with no content. When this second thing happens the log window shows "entering AHRegistered help Book" but it doesn't appear. Does anyone have any suggestions?

AddressSanitizer __asan_cstring section and redzone padding behavior
Hi, I’m debugging an issue with AddressSanitizer (ASan) on macOS. I’ve noticed that strings placed in the __asan_cstring section are aligned and padded with redzones. When I attempt to copy a contiguous block of memory (e.g., memcpy(buf, asan_cstring, 4096)), ASan throws an out-of-bounds access error. On the other hand, strings in the __cstring section do not cause this problem, likely because they are laid out contiguously without redzone padding. Could you clarify: Are strings in __asan_cstring section aligned and padded individually with redzones? Is this redzone inserted after each global string for alignment or instrumentation purposes? Does this mean that bulk memory copies over this section (even if read-only) are inherently unsafe under ASan? Is there a recommended way to safely iterate or copy memory from __asan_cstring without triggering ASan violations? Any guidance on how redzones are managed in the __asan_cstring section would be very helpful.

Team membership not appearing in Xcode
I have a major problem with team membership and Xcode. I work in a company, where my apple account was added to the development team with app manager role. I can see that on the apple portal, everything seems fine there. I have been also provided with the provisioning profile for the project and signing certificate of the company. However, when I log into Xcode the team does not show up anywhere. I am able to build the app, but cannot distribute to TestFlight (or anywhere else). When I use manual signing to choose the signing certificate it shows the "unknown team" message next to it. When I check my account in xcode it also only shows my personal team and does not allow to pick any other one (doesn't show any other one). When I click the "+" button on my xcode account to add a certificate an error pops up: "You already have active certificate or a pending request". I do have a pending request to enroll into apple developers program, but everyone says you don't need one if you are added to the team, you can just operate as a team member. Finally, when trying to upload to TestFlight, the following error is displayed: "No team for account ***" I have tried deleting and re-adding all the certificates. I have tried logging in and out of Xcode, I have tried deleting and re-adding my account in Xcode. I have tried reloading everything. My account was deleted and re-added to developers team. Nothing worked. I don't know the source of the issue, nor does my employer. I am new to ios development and this is my first project. Please help!

Xcode 15 performance tests ignore baseline
I'm trying to write performance tests with Xcode 15, but it's not working: even though setting a baseline seems to work (baseline data files are created), Xcode seems to ignore that baseline altogether whenever the test is run. As a result, performance tests never fail, no matter how bad performance gets. The source editor persistently displays a “No baseline average for Time” message. Has anyone else encountered this? Figured out how to sidestep the issue? Of note, the issue is easily reproduced: create a new (macOS in my case) app project with tests, add a dummy performance test; run the test once and save its baseline, and despite this subsequent tests will always succeed, even if you significantly slow the dummy test down. (I've filed this as FB13330139)

Xcode 16.3 Pods Compilation Issue
I am on MacOs 15.4.1 which is being deployed with an old version of Ruby ruby 2.6.10 and bundler version 1.17.2. I ran pod install after generating the pods with these versions and during the application compilation there have been several issues reported against pods code.

(I've filed this as FB13330139)

iOS Simulator (18.4) crashes when user clicks allow for Speech Recognition permission popup
When a new application runs on iOS 18.4 simulator and tries to access the Speech Framework, prompting a request for authorisation to use Speech Recognition, the application will crash if the user clicks allow. Same issue in the visionOS 2.4 simulator. Using Swift 6. Report Identifier: FB17686186 /// Checks speech recognition availability and requests necessary permissions. @MainActor func checkAvailabilityAndPermissions() async { logger.debug("Checking speech recognition availability and permissions...") // 1. Verify that the speechRecognizer instance exists guard let recognizer = speechRecognizer else { logger.error("Speech recognizer is nil - speech recognition won't be available.") reportError(.configurationError(description: "Speech recognizer could not be created."), context: "checkAvailabilityAndPermissions") self.isAvailable = false return } // 2. Check recognizer availability (might change at runtime) if !recognizer.isAvailable { logger.error("Speech recognizer is not available for the current locale.") reportError(.configurationError(description: "Speech recognizer not available."), context: "checkAvailabilityAndPermissions") self.isAvailable = false return } logger.trace("Speech recognizer exists and is available.") // 3. Request Speech Recognition Authorization // IMPORTANT: Add `NSSpeechRecognitionUsageDescription` to Info.plist let speechAuthStatus = SFSpeechRecognizer.authorizationStatus() logger.debug("Current Speech Recognition authorization status: \(speechAuthStatus.rawValue)") if speechAuthStatus == .notDetermined { logger.info("Requesting speech recognition authorization...") // Use structured concurrency to wait for permission result let authStatus = await withCheckedContinuation { continuation in SFSpeechRecognizer.requestAuthorization { status in continuation.resume(returning: status) } } logger.debug("Received authorization status: \(authStatus.rawValue)") // Now handle the authorization result let speechAuthorized = (authStatus == .authorized) handleAuthorizationStatus(status: authStatus, type: "Speech Recognition") // If speech is granted, now check microphone if speechAuthorized { await checkMicrophonePermission() } } else { // Already determined, just handle it let speechAuthorized = (speechAuthStatus == .authorized) handleAuthorizationStatus(status: speechAuthStatus, type: "Speech Recognition") // If speech is already authorized, check microphone if speechAuthorized { await checkMicrophonePermission() } } }

Bug: Xcode Refactor -> Rename with Conditional Compilation
When renaming A.value, it also causes the value inside the conditional compilation in checkRename to be renamed. How to resolve or avoid this situation? class A { let value = "1" } class B { var value = 0 } func checkRename() { var b = B() #if os(iOS) b.value = 456 #elseif os(macOS) b.value = 789 #endif } Xcode Version 15.4 (15F31d).
