push notifications are not receiving to device
iOS push notification is not working for in App since 03-Apr-2025. We are pushing the message to APNS from our application, but message is not delivered to iOS device. We have performed tests on both PROD and QA environment and following are the observations: PROD successfully pushing the notification to APNS but not receiving the notification on iOS device (100% failure). QA received notification on iOS device always (100% success). Analyzed PROD notification server log at our end and we do not observe any error and it is showing successful also when message is pushed to APNS all the time. Need to check from APNS why push messages are not delivered to iOS devices. Validated the PROD APNS certificate at our end which we are using during call to APNS - it is valid till Oct 2025. Please suggest me any possible solution because I don't have any clue where it is failing and what to do

Clarification about ANCS being unavailable
Hello, I am working on a project that involves using external device to connect over BLE with users iPhone. I would like to be able to notify users on our device about eg. incoming calls, messages etc. I have been succesfull in using ANCS to achieve that but I am a little worried around consistency of this solution, especially taking into account following line from documentation: Due to the nature of iOS, the ANCS is not guaranteed to always be present. As a result, the NC should look for and subscribe to the Service Changed characteristic of the GATT service in order to monitor for the potential publishing and unpublishing of the ANCS at any time. I have not been able (yet?) to find or identify circumstances when ANCS would not be avilable or would be "removed in runtime", hence would it be possible to request some guidance and clarification on the conditions when ANCS can be unavailable or removed? Thank you!

The app will be wake up from killed status by silent notification or not?
The app will be wake up from killed status by silent notification or not? This is a question for years, from my test. It will wake up. Here the wake up means it will call the "didFinishLaunchingWithOptions" method. But we can not see the app in the "recent apps" list after switching home-screen up. So any Apple dev can give me a detailed explain for this?

Is it possible to increase priority of background notifications?
I have an app that pairs with a wearable Bluetooth device that collects users' health data. My web backend sends two push notifications every hour to all app users—one at XX:05 and another at XX:15. The first notification instructs the app to download data from the paired wearable device, while the second prompts the app to upload the downloaded data to the backend server's database. However, I’ve noticed that many push notifications are not processed by iOS apps, especially at night. Based on Apple's documentation, iOS prioritizes push notifications and may ignore lower-priority ones to conserve battery life. Is there a way to increase the priority to ensure that more (or all) push notifications are processed? Would integrating the HealthKit framework help? Currently, I use Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) to send push notifications. Additionally, my app falls under the Health & Fitness category. Would changing it to Medical increase priority? P.S. I understand that Apple requires certain certifications for an app to be classified as Medical.

pushkit and callkit
I am currently implementing VoIP push notifications in my iOS app using PushKit. On iOS 18, I am able to receive VoIP notifications successfully when the app is in the foreground. However, when the app is in the background or in a terminated (kill) state, the notifications do not arrive. In earlier iOS versions, my existing implementation worked as expected across all app states. This issue seems to have started after testing on iOS 18, which appears to have introduced stricter permission or background execution requirements. Questions: Has iOS 18 introduced new permission requirements or entitlements for VoIP push notifications? Do I need to explicitly request a new type of user permission for VoIP notifications? Are there additional background modes, Info.plist keys, or PushKit changes required for VoIP to work in background and terminated states on iOS 18? Additional Information: . Foreground: Works fine, pushRegistry(_:didReceiveIncomingPushWith:for:completion:) is triggered. . Background/Terminated: No call to the above delegate method. . Using correct voip push type in the payload. . PushKit is configured in AppDelegate. . Background modes for "Voice over IP" and "Background Processing" are enabled. . Using a real device with iOS 18 for testing (not simulator). Any guidance or updated documentation references for handling VoIP pushes in iOS 18 would be greatly appreciated.

Push notifications - Traffic gets "server-rst"
It seems our company server is sending to Apple push service the push notifications that are supposed to be transferred to devices our app is installed on – but you it seems you are blocking the request We can see traffic going out from our server side towards the apple gateway notification server using port 2195 and we can see that the traffic gets "server-rst" meaning that the apple gateway server kills the connection You might need to whitelist our external IP's

Action Required: Apple Push Notification Service Server Certificate Update
Hello Everyone, We have some doubts regarding the apple notification alert update received in Oct 2024 for APNS server certificate update. Does this change is already live for sandbox environment? As we have checked on sandbox environment without changing any certificate its working and we are able to get push notification. Does that means our system does not need any change for production as well? If required where we should add https://www.sectigo.com/knowledge-base/detail/Sectigo-Intermediate-Certificates/kA01N000000rfBO. This certificate. For FYI we are using python library called django-push-notifications which internally call to the APNS server for push notifications.

Concerning Socket Disconnection Issues in iPhone VoIP Applications
We are encountering the following issue with our VoIP application for iPhone, published on the App Store, and would appreciate your guidance on possible countermeasures. The VoIP application (callee side) utilizes a Wi-Fi network. The sequence leading to the issue is as follows: VoIP App (callee): Launches iPhone (callee): Locks (e.g., by short-pressing the power button) VoIP App (callee): Transitions to a suspended state VoIP App (caller): Initiates a VoIP call VoIP App (callee): Receives a local push notification VoIP App (callee): Creates a UDP socket for call control (for SIP send/receive) VoIP App (callee): Creates a UDP socket for audio stream (for RTP send/receive) VoIP App (callee): Exchanges SIP messages (INVITE, 100 Trying, 180 Ringing, etc.) using the call control UDP socket VoIP App (callee): Answers the incoming call VoIP App (callee): Executes performAnswerCallAction() Immediately after executing performAnswerCallAction() in the above sequence, the sendto() function for both the "UDP socket for call control (SIP send/receive)" and the "UDP socket for audio stream (RTP send/receive)" occasionally returns errno = 57 (ENOTCONN). (of course The VoIP app itself does not close the sockets in this timing) Given that the user has performed an answer operation, the iPhone is in an active state, and the VoIP app is running, what could be the possible reasons why the sockets suddenly become unusable? Could you please provide guidance on how to avoid such socket closures? Our VoIP app uses SCNetworkReachabilitySetCallback to receive network change notifications, but no notifications regarding network changes were received at the time errno = 57 occurred. Is it possible for sockets used by an application to be closed without any notification to the application itself?

Issue with app not waking up intermittently due to Pushkit (VOIP)
I am developing a VoIP service. Usually, when receiving a VoIP Push, Callkit is exposed immediately after receiving the message and the app is designed to be used. However, there is an extremely intermittent phenomenon (not well reproduced) where the app does not wake up even when receiving a VoIP Push. And after a long time, the app wakes up and Callkit is activated. (A long time after receiving the call…) Has anyone experienced the above phenomenon? I wonder if there are any reported parts depending on the OS version. (I have identified that it does not occur in the 17.x version, but it is difficult to guarantee because it occurs extremely intermittently) The app is not running in the background, but... Could this be happening if there are a lot of pending operations in the background? I need help urgently

Posting a local notifications (or alert) from a launch agent
My Mac app has a launch agent (within the app bundle) that works great without the app running. There are some occasions where I need to display an alert and ask the user to launch the app to handle the issue. I thought about using UNUserNotificationCenter but I'm not able to make it work from the agent. I'm asking for authorization as follows: [center requestAuthorizationWithOptions:(UNAuthorizationOptionAlert | UNAuthorizationOptionSound | UNAuthorizationOptionBadge) completionHandler:^(BOOL granted, NSError * _Nullable error) { NSLog(@"authorization request completion. Granted: %@, error: %@ (%@)",granted?@"YES":@"NO",error, [error localizedDescription]); }]; And I'm trying to post the notification as follows: content.title = @"Your App Name"; content.body = @"Click the button to open the app"; content.sound = [UNNotificationSound defaultSound]; UNNotificationRequest *request = [UNNotificationRequest requestWithIdentifier:[[NSUUID UUID] UUIDString] content:content trigger:nil]; [center addNotificationRequest:request withCompletionHandler:^(NSError * _Nullable error) { if (error) { NSLog(@"Error showing notification: %@ %@", error, [error localizedDescription]); } }]; When running I'm getting asked to authorize, I authorize and all seems OK in system settings but I'm not able send any notifications. addNotificationRequest results in UNErrorCodeNotificationsNotAllowed error. I tried this with the authorization request inside the main app, or inside the agent, with the same results. When trying to post the notification from within the app, it does work, but that's not what I need. Is posting notifications from within the launch agent not possible at all, or is there anything here that I'm missing. TIA

Notification Service Extension Not Working
I've added a Notification Service Extension as a target to my React Native iOS app following Apple's official documentation. After completing all the setup steps as outlined in the documentation, the notification titles remain unchanged - notifications are arriving without any modifications, suggesting the extension isn't functioning properly.Testing Details: Sending notifications via Apple Push Notification Console Tested on iPhone 16 Pro Max (physical device) Tested on iPhone 15 Pro simulator Both show the same issue - no title modifications The extension appears to not be executing at all. Has anyone encountered similar issues with Notification Service Extensions in React Native projects, or can suggest troubleshooting steps to verify the extension is properly configured and running?

Inquiry About Push Notification Behavior After App Transfer
We are in the process of transferring our app to a new Apple Developer Organization account. Our app uses the Apple Push Notification service (APNs) with a .p8 authentication key configured on our server to send push notifications. We would like to confirm: Once the app transfer is completed, will push notifications continue to work temporarily using the existing .p8 key on our server, until we generate and configure a new .p8 key under the new organization's account? Understanding this behavior is critical for us to ensure a smooth transition and avoid any disruption in push notification delivery for our users. Thank you for your guidance and support.

Can I listen to user choice when asked for update permissions on Live Activity?
We would like to better understand the discrepancy between a Push To Start and the subsequent Updates where I see a number of recipients drop greatly. Our assumption is that this is a result of the end user not clicking the "Allow" prompt when a push to start widget is shown on the screen for the first time, but we currently do not have a way to listen to the user's choice when prompted. Is there any way of tapping into this, to determine if this is in fact where the variance is coming from, or if there is actually just a problem with the request to retrieve the update token from our end?

Critical Alerts and Notification Permissions
Back story: I'm developing an app that communicates with a personal medical device. We use critical alerts when we have hardware issues that could result in harm to the patient. The audio file is a 30 second file to make sure the patient is aware. If the app is open when they occur, we pop up a modal message in the app. When the user dismisses the notice, we call UNNotificationCenter::removeDeliveredNotifications(withIdentifiers:) to remove the critical alert and also to stop the audio file that is playing. This normally works fine. However we discovered that if the patient leaves critical alert enabled but disables notifications for our app, that we can still post the critical alert and it goes off. However when the user dismisses the message, the removeDeliveredNotifications call does not work. I did some debugging and if call getDeliveredNotifications with this permission combination, it return 0 (normally it would return 1). Does anyone know of another way to remove the critical alert in this situation? (or should I be submitting this as a bug?)

Certification Authority (CA) for Apple Push Notification service (APNs)
I got a notification that the Certification Authority (CA) for Apple Push Notification service (APNs) is changing. Does this affect the push service for Apple Wallet passes or just for apps? I have a push service for Apple Wallet passes but no service for apps. I don't use push notification service for anything other than for Apple Wallet Pass push notifications, not at all for apps. Is there anything I need to do or is this not relevant to my situation? If it does, what do I need to change in order to make sure my service still works? Do I just replace the certificate? Is there a standard path where it would live on the server? I'm sure this is a simple thing, but it's been over a decade since I wrote the push service so I'm pretty rusty.

PTT Framework Restrictions
We are attempting to update our app to use the PTT framework, as it has been made clear that this will be required in a future iOS version as opposed to using the Unrestricted VoIP entitlement we are using for several features of our app. However, the behavior of this framework poses some problems with implementing our app's functionality: It is not possible to programmatically join a channel when the app is not in the foreground. This hinders our ability to implement the Automatically activate radio stream feature of our app, which allows users who have opted into this feature to immediately begin hearing live PTT audio from their agency following an incident alert. Having the app constantly "joined to a channel" and using the restoration delegate could potentially work, however this is not ideal as this would result in the PTT UI needing to be displayed at all times, even when no radio stream is activated. We have a "Text to Speech" option that, when enabled, reads out the content of an incident alert after the alert sound has played. This currently happens by triggering an AVSpeechSynthesizer in the PushKit incoming push callback. It may be possible to render TTS audio on the fly in a Notification Service Extension and assign it as the notification's sound, if that is possible this is less of a problem. We also use the PushKit callback to, again if the user has enabled it, activate a "Shake to Respond" feature, allowing a short period of time after receiving an incident alert in which the user can shake their device to indicate that they are responding to the incident. There does not appear to be any way to have the level of background execution required to implement this using an NSE, and this is of course beyond the scope of the PTT framework. What options do we have to be able to continue to provide this functionality, without risk of it being disabled in a future iOS version?

How to turn off shortcuts notifications permanently apart from turning it off via screen time as it keeps turning itself back ON.
I have created a configuration profile which basically just turns off notifications for Shortcuts app but I am unable to install it on my iPhone as I am getting the following error “This profile can be installed on a supervised device only” can someone please help me with this? Would also appreciate if you have another way to turn off shortcuts notifications permanently since when I turn it off via screen time it keeps turning itself ON every couple of days.
