Hello, im currently developing proxy app with XrayCore trying to bypass APNs when tunnel us up and i found .excludeAPNs property in NETunnelProviderProtocol that works only when includeAllNetworks property is also TRUE.
I wonder if there is a possible way to make APNs bypass tunnel in split tunnelling mode? because we use excludedRoutes and full tunnel is not an option
Simulator: iPhone 16 pro (iOS 26)
Minimum Deployments: iOS 16.0+, not iOS 17.
Here is the demo:
import SwiftUI
import NetworkExtension
struct ContentView: View {
private var monitor = NWPathMonitor()
var body: some View {
VStack {
Text("Hello, world!")
}
.task {
let _ = URLSession.shared
}
}
}
For our outdoor power supply company that builds public WiFi networks at camping sites, we want to implement the following features in our app:
Scan surrounding WiFi networks
When detecting specific public WiFi SSIDs, provide users with corresponding passwords
Automatically connect to those WiFi networks
Regarding the NEHotspotHelper API permission application, when I clicked on https://developer.apple.com/contact/request/network-extension, it redirected me to https://developer.apple.com/unauthorized/. I'm not sure where to properly apply for this permission now.

We are currently working on a zero-configuration networking compliant device thru avahi-daemon.
Our Device want to have multiple Instance name for different services.
Example
InstanceA._ipps._tcp.local.
InstanceA._ipp._tcp.local.
InstanceB._ipps._tcp.local.
InstanceB._ipp._tcp.local.
Will BCT confuse this as multiple device connected in the network and cause it to fail? Does Bonjour only allows only a Single Instance name with multiple services?
I am trying to commission an ESP32-H2 Matter device using the chip-tool. It's running the Light Switch sample. I can commissioning it using the iOS Home App, so I know the code on it's working okay.
I would like to understand more about the Fabric process, so I'd like to use the Home Pod powered Thread network rather than setting up an instance of Open Thread Border Router.
I have created a simple iOS app and can fetch the activeOperationalDataSet from the Preferred network using
func obtainPreferredNetworkCredentials() async -> (Void) {
let client = THClient()
let bIsPreferredAvailable = await client.isPreferredAvailable()
if bIsPreferredAvailable == true
{
var credential: THCredentials?
do {
credential = try await client.preferredCredentials()
if let dataset = credential?.activeOperationalDataSet {
print(dataset.hexDescription)
}
} catch {
print("Failed to get the credentials")
}
}
}
The hexDescription comes from this extension
extension Data {
var hexDescription: String {
return reduce("") {$0 + String(format: "%02x", $1)}
}
}
I am decoding the Data and displaying it as a hex string. It looks something like this:
0e080000000000000000000300001935060004001fffc002089f651677026f48070708fd9f65167702000ee90914b5d1097de9bb0818dc94690c0402a0f7f8
However, when I attempt to commission the device, it fails during ThreadSetup. Googling the issue says most likely the Operational Dataset is wrong in some way.
Before I spend too much time on this, I want to make sure I'm doing the right thing in terms of getting the Operational Dataset to use with the chip-tool.
Any help is appreciated!
Hi, I am working on a case in our organisation where hundreds if not a thousand wireless network clients are affected by regular, usually 30 sometimes 60 minute sometime they are unnoticeable but often people having meetings notice that a lot.
We excluded wireless network configuration issue since disconnections happens to clients both connected to Cisco and Ubiquiti Access Points.
WLC logs mostly show EAP timeout errors - clients are getting disauthenticated and authenticated back - usually without any action needed - but the meeting is being interrupted.
What I found in Macbook logs with sudo log show [options] is the main reason of network disconnection:

I use eapolcfg in Apple's open source eap8021x repository to connect to the enterprise network.
1.https://github.com/gfleury/eap8021x-debug
https://opensource.apple.com/source/eap8021x/eap8021x-304.100.1/
Our enterprise network authentication is PEAP. So far, I have created a profile using the following commands and have done the access.
./eapolcfg createProfile --authType PEAP --SSID myssid --securityType WPA2 --userDefinedName MyProfile
./eapolcfg setPasswordItem --password mypassword --name myname --SSID myssid
./eapolcfg startAuthentication --interface en0 --SSID myssid
After I performed this series of operations, I passed
BOOL success = [self.interface associateToEnterpriseNetwork:network identity:nil username:username password:password error:&error];
Connection will pop up the following pop-up window, sometimes associateToEnterpriseNetwork will fail. I don't know what went wrong, is it that I missed some steps through the eapolcfg [tool?]
This function also reports the following error:Error Domain=com.apple.coreWLAN.EAPOL.error Code=1
"(null)"
Please answer my questions. Thank you very much
Hello,
I have been implementing NEAppPushProvider class to establish my own protocol to directly communicate with our provider server without the need to rely on APNs for background push notifications.
I am at a stage where I am able to establish a tcp communicator and receive messages back and forth but I noticed that when I disconnect from the WIFI I've set up by setting a given SSID, I am not getting hit on the Stop method. Below is briefly how I load and save preferences.
NEAppPushManager appPushManager = new NEAppPushManager();
appPushManager.LoadFromPreferences((error) =>
{
if (error != null)
{
Console.WriteLine($"Error loading NEAppPushManager preferences: {error.LocalizedDescription}");
return;
}
if (!enable)
{
Console.WriteLine("Disabling Local Push Provider...");
appPushManager.Enabled = false;
// ✅ Immediately update UserDefaults before saving preferences
userDefaults.SetBool(false, Constants.IsLocalPushEnabled);
userDefaults.Synchronize();
appPushManager.SaveToPreferences((saveError) =>
{
if (saveError != null)
{
Console.WriteLine($"Error disabling Local Push: {saveError.LocalizedDescription}");
}
else
{
Console.WriteLine("Local Push successfully disabled.");
}
});
return;
}
// ✅ Now we can safely enable Local Push
Console.WriteLine($"Enabling Local Push for SSID: {_currentSSID}");
appPushManager.MatchSsids = new string[] { _currentSSID };
appPushManager.LocalizedDescription = "LocalPushProvider";
appPushManager.ProviderBundleIdentifier = Constants.LocalPushExtensionBundleId;
appPushManager.Enabled = true;
appPushManager.SaveToPreferences((saveError) =>
{
if (saveError != null)
{
Console.WriteLine($"Error saving Local Push settings: {saveError.LocalizedDescription}");
}
else
{
Console.WriteLine("✅ Local Push successfully registered.");
userDefaults.SetBool(true, Constants.IsLocalPushEnabled);
userDefaults.Synchronize();
}
});
});
I've read through documentation and was expecting the Stop method to be hit when I turn off Wifi. Am I missing anything? Please let me know if I should provide more info. Currently I just have a console writeline method inside the Stop method to see if it actually gets hit.
Starting with macOS 15 (Sequoia), applications that perform network discovery operations now trigger a permission prompt: "Allow [AppName] to find devices on local networks".
I am using sysctl() with NET_RT_FLAGS and RTF_LLINFO to access the ARP table and retrieve gateway MAC addresses:
int mib[6];
mib[0] = CTL_NET;
mib[1] = PF_ROUTE;
mib[2] = 0;
mib[3] = AF_INET;
mib[4] = NET_RT_FLAGS;
mib[5] = RTF_LLINFO; // This flag accesses ARP table entries
if (sysctl(mib, 6, buf, &needed, NULL, 0) < 0)
return nil;
From my testing, the Local Network Access prompt does not always appear.
It looks like if the MAC address is already cached in the ARP table, no prompt is shown, and the prompt only appears when the system needs to resolve a new MAC address.
Is this correct behavior?
Does ARP resolution by itself triggering the prompt?
Hello everyone,
I'm trying to figure out how to transmit a UIImage (png or tiff) securely to an application running in my desktop browser (Mac or PC). The desktop application and iOS app would potentially be running on the same local network (iOS hotspot or something) or have no internet connection at all.
I'm trying to securely send over an image that the running desktop app could ingest. I was thinking something like a local server securely accepting image data from an iPhone.
Any suggestions ideas or where to look for more info would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you for your help.
I'm building an app that helps manage my own wifi access points. Now, all my wifis emit SSIDs starting with the same prefix. Is it possible for me to list down all the SSIDs near me that start with that prefix, so that determine which of my wifis are near me? (Swift)
Can NEHotspotHelper or NEHotspotConfigurationManager help in this regard?
Hi

we want to be able to reroute ICMP packets from our machine and redirect them to our MASQUE proxy.
we want to avoid a creation of virtual interface or modifying the routing tables.
is it possible, if so, how can it be achieved.

I am developing an App based on Network Extension that lets all network requests on device access the Internet through a private Relay.
I created an empty iOS App and only the entitlements file and ViewController.swift(Main.storyboard) file have been modified. The code was copied from the official video https://developer.apple.com/videos/play/wwdc2023/10002/
But, running the App on iPhone, the saveToPreferences API reported Error Domain=NERelayErrorDomain Code=3 "(null)" and the App doesn't look like it's changed at all (it doesn't jump to the Settings - VPN&Relay). Does anyone know why?Any reply would be greatly appreciated.
The contents of the entitlements file:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd">
<plist version="1.0">
<dict>
<key>com.apple.developer.networking.networkextension</key>
<array>
<string>relay</string>
</array>
</dict>
</plist>
ViewController.swift:
import UIKit
import NetworkExtension
class ViewController: UIViewController {
override func viewDidLoad() {
super.viewDidLoad()
// Do any additional setup after loading the view.
}
@IBAction func tap(_ sender: Any) {
let newRelay = NERelay()
let relayURL = URL(string: "https://relay.example.com:443/")
newRelay.http3RelayURL = relayURL
newRelay.http2RelayURL = relayURL
newRelay.additionalHTTPHeaderFields = ["Authorization" : "PrivateToken=123"]
let manager = NERelayManager.shared()
manager.relays = [newRelay]
manager.matchDomains = ["internal.example.com"]
manager.isEnabled = false
manager.saveToPreferences { err in

I'm trying to distribute a sandboxed macOS app with a PacketTunnelProvider (system extension) via direct distribution (outside of AppStore).
The app and the extension both use the same app group, using the new group.com.XXXX.YYYY format detailed here for 10.15+
https://developer.apple.com/forums/thread/721701
I've also followed the instructions below to get around the quirk of not being able to directly process it via XCode:
https://developer.apple.com/forums/thread/737894
I've re-signed with Developer ID certificate, all that is smooth and successfully notarized.
However upon running the app I get:
"My.app" would like to access data from other apps.
Checking
~/Library/Containers
~/Library/Group Containers
I see the correct files folders have been created before I select Don't Allow and Allow.
My app does not access any files or folders outside of the sandboxed directories.
How can I prevent this from happening?
In order to diagnose further, how to diagnose exactly which files/folder the app is trying to access that is causing this problem?

I have a question regarding /etc/pf.conf.
If I use this rule,
rdr pass on bridge100 inet proto tcp from 192.168.2.104 to any port {80, 443, 8883} -> 127.0.0.1 port 8080
all other traffic on bridge100 will not function properly, even the traffic that is not destined for 192.168.2.104.
Additionally, the hotspot generated through bridge100 will also become unavailable.
Even if I comment out this rule and run sudo pfctl -e -f /etc/pf.conf, the problem still persists. The situation will only return to normal when I restart my Mac.

I am creating an application that needs to connect to an Iot device, so i want to make a wifi hotspot with a custom SSID and password and WPA3.
Could you please provide an example code in Objective-C to get started?
Hello,
I’m developing an iOS app with Xcode (Objective-C / Swift), and I would like to know if there is any supported way to retrieve a list of nearby Wi-Fi networks (their SSID and signal strength).
I know that NEHotspotConfigurationManager allows to configure a specific network, and the Access WiFi Information entitlement allows getting the current connected network.
But is there any API (public, private, or special entitlement) that allows scanning nearby Wi-Fi networks — even for limited purposes like configuration of IoT equipment, or MFi devices?
I have seen some apps doing this in the past (probably via private API), but I want to know what is the current official solution.
Thanks a lot!

Hi there,
We are facing some issues regarding TLS connectivity:
Starting with iOS 26, the operating system refuses to open TLS sockets to local devices with self-signed certificates over Wi-Fi. In this situation, connection is no longer possible, even if the device is detected on the network with Bonjour.
We have not found a workaround for this problem.
We've tryied those solutions without success:
Added the 'NSAppTransportSecurity' key to the info.plist file, testing all its items, such as "NSAllowsLocalNetworking", "NSExceptionDomains", etc.
Various code changes to use properties such as "sec_protocol_options_set_local_identity" and "sec_protocol_options_set_tls_server_name" to no avail.
Brutally import the certificate files into the project and load them via, for example, "Bundle.main.url(forResource: "nice_INTERFACE_server_cert", withExtension: "crt")", using methods such as sec_trust_copy_ref and SecCertificateCopyData.
Download the .pem or .crt files to the iPhone, install them (now visible under "VPN & Device Management"), and then flag them as trusted by going to "Settings -> General -> Info -> Trust". certificates"
The most critical part seems to be the line
sec_protocol_options_set_verify_block(tlsOptions.securityProtocolOptions, { $2(true) }, queue)
whose purpose is to bypass certificate checks and validate all of them (as apps already do). However, on iOS26, if I set a breakpoint on leg$2(true),` it never gets there, while on iOS 18, it does.
I'll leave as example the part of the code that was tested the most below. Currently, on iOS26, the handler systematically falls back to .cancelled:
func startConnection(host: String, port: UInt16) {
self.queue = DispatchQueue(label: "socketQueue")
let tlsOptions = NWProtocolTLS.Options()
sec_protocol_options_set_verify_block(tlsOptions.securityProtocolOptions, { $2(true) }, queue)
let parameters = NWParameters(tls: tlsOptions)
self.nwConnection = NWConnection(host: .init(host), port: .init(rawValue: port)!, using: parameters)
self.nwConnection.stateUpdateHandler = { [weak self] state in
switch state {
case .setup:
break
case .waiting(let error):
self?.connectionDidFail(error: error)
case .preparing:
break
case .ready:
self?.didConnectSubject.onNext(Void())
case .failed(let error):
self?.connectionDidFail(error: error)
case .cancelled:
self?.didDisconnectSubject.onNext(nil)
@unknown default:
break
}
}
self.setupReceive()
self.nwConnection.start(queue: queue)
}
These are the prints made during the procedure. The ones with the dot are from the app, while the ones without are warnings/info from Xcode:

This is probably a basic question but I wanted to ask your advice for the best way to take consenting users' Watch data from Apple Health Kit and send it to our central server? One idea we had was to create an iOS app that gets the data from Apple's Health SDK on the phone and sends it to our server. Would appreciate any help here, thank you.
