WatchOS app not downloaded from appstore
This is a bit of a headscratcher. Xcode 16 fyi. I've written a standalone watchos app (with a stub ios app). Distributes and works perfectly over Testflight. I've submitted for app store and it passed the checks an I've released it for sale. Told my brother to use a promo code to download it and show me how it looks and report me any nuisances. He tells me there's no app neither on phone (expected) nor in watch. And he checked both the Watch ios app list and the watch. I've gone through various GPTs and they've all told me the basic troubleshooting. That his watch might not be supported (wrong, it's a watch 10 ultra with latest updates and my min supported versions are hilariously low). They've suggested that I might not have the right keys for making it standalone set, also no. They suggested that skip_install shouldn't be set to no; also wrong I think they're thinking xcode 13 and below. The stub ios app has a dependency on watchos app and also has an embed directive. I also checked the archive and saw the watchos app embedded indeed. Again, the app works perfectly fine when distributed over testflight. And AFAIK that's a release build which I know for a fact because I had a problem with not giving healthkit entitlements to release (that was another but minor headscratcher at the time, when it was working over direct xcode upload). Minor detail, I've written, test(flight)ed the app in UK and in English, my brother is in Turkey. Of course now I immediately pulled the app out of sale because I don't want people paying and getting nothing, that's gonna cause a lot of trouble. So I need any help I can get to How to debug this without exposing the app and myself: is it possible to limit the release? Obviously: what could be going wrong? How the hell did I even pass app review? Is this maybe isolated to my brother's watch? I'm more than happy to share project files and/or info.plist files(end products of them, because my plists are generated from project file).

Apple CDN connection error after changing server ip version to v6
The universal links for my apps stopped working. The server where the AASA files where hosted worked on IPV4 exclusively, a few days ago i changed the configuration to IPV6 only. I´ve created new IPV6 entries, renewed all certifactes and deleted all IPV4 entries for the domains. All seemed fine, but at Saturday I realized that my universal links stopped working for new user. What i´ve done to find the issue: Example domain that was used for debugging: "https://developffw.burns.fun" I´ve verified the AASA file is hosted properly by using different browsers and Postman to retrieve it. The file can be accessed and the certificates look fine. Output of curl -v https://developffw.burns.fun/.well-known/apple-app-site-association * Host developffw.burns.fun:443 was resolved. * IPv6: 2a01:4f8:13b:340a::2 * IPv4: (none) * Trying [2a01:4f8:13b:340a::2]:443... * schannel: disabled automatic use of client certificate * ALPN: curl offers http/1.1 * ALPN: server accepted http/1.1 * Established connection to developffw.burns.fun (2a01:4f8:13b:340a::2 port 443) from 2a00:79c0:65c:8b00:80ee:175b:3e2a:1e7d port 61014 * using HTTP/1.x > GET /.well-known/apple-app-site-association HTTP/1.1 > Host: developffw.burns.fun > User-Agent: curl/8.16.0 > Accept: */* > * Request completely sent off < HTTP/1.1 200 OK < Server: nginx/1.22.1 < Date: Mon, 15 Dec 2025 11:34:22 GMT < Content-Type: application/octet-stream < Content-Length: 329 < Last-Modified: Sat, 21 Dec 2024 08:53:11 GMT < Connection: keep-alive < ETag: "676681f7-149" < Accept-Ranges: bytes < { "applinks": { "details": [ { "appIDs": [ "6LN7G8JEA5.burns.FFW-Manager-SwiftUI.Debug"], "components": [ { "/": "/onboard", "?": { "id": "*"}, "?": { "name": "*"}, "?": { "token": "*" } } ] } ] } } * Connection #0 to host developffw.burns.fun:443 left intact I took a look at the headers from the Apple CDN network response. These indicate some sort of connection error. The response code is 404 Response headers: Apple-Failure-Details: {"cause":"dial tcp [2a01:4f8:13b:340a::2]:443: connect: network is unreachable"} Apple-Failure-Reason: SWCERR00305 Network error Apple-From: https://betaffw.burns.fun/.well-known/apple-app-site-association Apple-Try-Direct: false Via: https/1.1 defra2-vp-vst-003.ts.apple.com (acdn/268.16305), https/1.1 defra2-vp-vfe-004.ts.apple.com (acdn/268.16305), http/1.1 defra2-xdc-mx-028.ts.apple.com (acdn/3.16363), https/1.1 defra1-edge-fx-021.ts.apple.com (acdn/3.16363) X-Cache: hit-stale, miss, hit-fresh, miss CDNUUID: 4321f35e-b73b-4031-a054-7c63af69e126-712221049 Took a look at the log files of the server. I can´t find any entry from the Apple servers neither in the default logs nor in the error log entries. The curl attempts are logged with response code 200. I´ve tried sudo swcutil dl -d https://developffw.burns.fun/onboard in the Terminal on my MAC. Output: The operation couldn´t be completed. (SWCErrorDomain error 8.) This indicates to me threre is an issue for the Apple servers accessing my server. But I don´t know what could be the reason. There is no firewall configuration that could block the requests. And there has been no change at all besides the IPV4 / IPV6 protocol change. This issue is the same for all the domain listed on this server. I´v even created a new app for this purpose and created a new AASA entry and associated link. Same issue. I´m pretty much lost here. Everything looks fine from my side. Google assetlinks.json seem to work fine. I would really appreciate some help on how to solve this, i´m at my wits end.

identitylookup needed for ILMessageFilterQueryHandling?
My iOS app uses a Message Filter extension (via ILMessageFilterQueryHandling) and works only when run directly as the extension target. When installed normally (via TestFlight), the filter does not trigger at all — which I now believe is because iOS enforces the com.apple.developer.identitylookup entitlement at runtime. Anyone know anything about this? I put in a request for the entitlement last week but heard nothing back. Called Apple "technical" support and they had no idea what I was talking about. The documentation around this is EXTREMELY lacking in my opinion...

Receive Custom URL Parameters
Hello! I’m trying to handle custom URLs (e.g., customurl://open?param=value) that open the app. However, while the app launches via the custom URL as expected, the parameters are not being passed to or are accessible from the iOS-specific implementation. Currently, if I open a custom URL via Safari, the app gets launched but the custom URL and parameters are not accessible. customurl://open?hello=test According to the iOS Docs ( https://developer.apple.com/documentation/xcode/defining-a-custom-url-scheme-for-your-app#Handle-incoming-URLs ) any URLs should be passed to: func application(_ application: UIApplication, open url: URL, options: [UIApplication.OpenURLOptionsKey : Any] = [:] ) -> Bool I do not register the above application function to be called but instead this one is executed during app start with launchOptions always being nil: func application(_ application: UIApplication, didFinishLaunchingWithOptions launchOptions: [UIApplication.LaunchOptionsKey : Any]? = nil) -> Bool This is the case regardless of if the App is started fresh or was already running in the background. My pInfo entry for the custom URL: <key>CFBundleURLTypes</key> <array> <dict> <key>CFBundleTypeRole</key> <string>Viewer</string> <key>CFBundleURLName</key> <string>dev.customurl.project</string> <key>CFBundleURLSchemes</key> <array> <string>customurl</string> </array> </dict> <dict/> </array> TLDR: How can I access the parameters, passed with the URL? Any thoughts on what I am doing wrong?

WeatherKit fails on AppStore
Hello, After being in the AppStore for more than a year with the app working perfectly, yesterday I started seeing that WeatherKit requests failed with Failed to generate jwt token for: com.apple.weatherkit.authservice with error: Error Domain=WeatherDaemon.WDSJWTAuthenticatorServiceListener.Errors Code=2 "(null)" Encountered an error when fetching weather data subset; location=<+41.40217108,+2.20023642> +/- 0.00m (speed -1.00 mps / course -1.00) @ 13/12/25, 12:20:35 Central European Standard Time, error=WeatherDaemon.WDSJWTAuthenticatorServiceListener.Errors 2 Error Domain=WeatherDaemon.WDSJWTAuthenticatorServiceListener.Errors Code=2 "(null)" I checked on developer.apple.com and we still have everything turned on and No changes were made from an already deployed app; and we pay 200$ a month for WeatherKit, this is unacceptable since it's not the first time WeatherKit randomly decides to stop working. More fun facts: the widget works fine...

App Crash in GameController when accessing GCKeyboard.coalesced on iPad
We are developing a hybrid iOS app where Angular content is rendered inside a WKWebView, hosted by a native Swift application. We use the GameController framework to detect whether an external Bluetooth keyboard is connected to an iPad. The following code is executed when the app enters the foreground and also when requested by the web layer: func keyboardStatusHandler(){ let isKeyboardConnected = GCKeyboard.coalesced != nil if(!isKeyboardConnected){ //sent status to Angular } else { //sent status to Angular } } Crash details We are seeing intermittent crashes on iPad with the following stack trace: Crashed: GCDeviceSession.HID 0 libobjc.A.dylib 0x7db8 objc_retain_x8 + 16 1 libsystem_blocks.dylib 0xfb8 void HelperBase<ExtendedInline>::copyCapture<(HelperBase<ExtendedInline>::BlockCaptureKind)3>(unsigned int) + 48 2 libsystem_blocks.dylib 0xbc4 HelperBase<GenericInline>::copyBlock(Block_layout*, Block_layout*) + 108 3 libsystem_blocks.dylib 0xc94 _call_copy_helpers_excp + 60 4 libsystem_blocks.dylib 0xef8 _Block_copy + 412 5 libdispatch.dylib 0x1a70 _dispatch_Block_copy + 32 6 libdispatch.dylib 0x792c dispatch_async + 56 7 libdispatch.dylib 0x792c dispatch_channel_async + 56 8 GameController 0xea6dc -[GCKeyboardInput _handleKeyboardEvent:] + 324 9 GameController 0x22508 __53-[_GCKeyboardEventHIDAdapter initWithSource:service:]_block_invoke + 376 10 GameController 0x11d30 -[_GCHIDEventSubject publishHIDEvent:] + 268 11 GameController 0xb79cc __40-[_GCHIDEventUIKitClient initWithQueue:]_block_invoke_3 + 44 12 libdispatch.dylib 0x1b584 _dispatch_client_callout + 16 13 libdispatch.dylib 0x12088 _dispatch_async_and_wait_invoke_and_complete_recurse + 272 14 libdispatch.dylib 0x8448 _dispatch_async_and_wait_f + 108 15 GameController 0xb7984 __40-[_GCHIDEventUIKitClient initWithQueue:]_block_invoke_2 + 132 16 GameController 0xb746c __48-[__GCHIDEventUIKitClient _initWithApplication:]_block_invoke + 256 17 UIKitCore 0x11fd394 __61-[UIEventFetcher _setHIDGameControllerEventObserver:onQueue:]_block_invoke_3 + 40 18 libdispatch.dylib 0x1aac _dispatch_call_block_and_release + 32 19 libdispatch.dylib 0x1b584 _dispatch_client_callout + 16 20 libdispatch.dylib 0xa2d0 _dispatch_lane_serial_drain + 740 21 libdispatch.dylib 0xadac _dispatch_lane_invoke + 388 22 libdispatch.dylib 0x151dc _dispatch_root_queue_drain_deferred_wlh + 292 23 libdispatch.dylib 0x14a60 _dispatch_workloop_worker_thread + 540 24 libsystem_pthread.dylib 0xa0c _pthread_wqthread + 292 25 libsystem_pthread.dylib 0xaac start_wqthread + 8 Observed scenarios Crash occurs when the app transitions from background to foreground Crash also occurs when the Angular layer requests keyboard status, triggering the same code path Questions Has anyone encountered crashes related to GCKeyboard.coalesced or GCKeyboardInput like this? Are there known issues with the GameController framework when querying keyboard state during app lifecycle transitions? Is there a recommended or safer way to detect external keyboard connection status on iPad (especially when using WKWebView)? Any insights, known platform issues, or suggested workarounds would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

How to learn most recent best practices?
Hello. Background: Most learning resources are for leaning Swift/Objective-C. I'm pretty sure I need something different. I'm already an experienced software engineer, just new to iOS/MacOS development. My problem is not learning the language, but rather how to learn modern best practices. I cannot find examples for what I'm looking for. So much seems to be sparse on implementation details, out of date, or both. I'm trying to write an app that has a few distinct parts. The UI portion will be mostly a menu bar app, which I am not having a problem discovering resources for how to implement. The app will also have a daemon and utilize network extensions. This is where I am having trouble. What's the current best practices on how to write and launch a daemon? Should the daemon be its own library/package which is them imported into the main app? If so, which Xcode template do I use for this? Are there any Hello World! examples of this? What is the best way for a UI app to communicate with a daemon? Are there any Hello World! repositories on how to implement network extensions? Should this be done in the main UI app, or in a separate library/package? TIA

XPCEndpoint cannot be encoded
I am trying to send an anonymous XPC listener endpoint to my daemon from user context in order to be able to do some bidirectional XPC. I was trying to use the new XPCListener and XPCSession objects and the easiest method I figured was using the Codable version of the send() methods, in which I wanted to send the XPCEndpoint object - alongside the name of the anonymous endpoint (because I want to have more XPCEndpoints sent over, so I want to be able to identify them. However, trying to manually encode XPCEndpoint throws an exception: ERROR: Missing CodingUserInfoKey CodingUserInfoKey(rawValue: "_XPCCodable") Here is a simple command-line tool reproducing the issue: import Foundation import XPC let listener = try XPCListener(service: "mach-service.xxx.yyy", incomingSessionHandler: { $0.accept(incomingMessageHandler: { (msg: XPCReceivedMessage) in return nil }) }) var endpoint = listener.endpoint do { let endpointData = try JSONEncoder().encode(endpoint) print("EndpointData object: \(endpointData.count) bytes") } catch let error { print("ERROR: \(error)") } Wrapping my object into an XPCDictionary, then adding multiple keys alongside an "endpoint" key with the XPCEndpoint as value works, but XPCDictionaries are less ideal - they don't even support vanilla Data objects, only ones converted to an xpc_object_t with xpc_data_* functions Is this expected behavior? I shouldn't encode an XPCEndpoint myself? I am using the latest Xcode 26.0 beta, with deployment target of macOS 15.1, running on macOS 15.5. (Btw it's also incorrect that this XPCEndpoint API is available from macOS 15.0 - it cannot be found in Xcode 15.4 under macOS 15.5. At the very best it's backDeployed but this isn't mentioned in its public declaration.)

What are the requirements of isSIMInserted api newly introduced from iOS 18 onwards
Hello Folks, I recently came through a new API introduced from iOS 18 onwards isSIMInserted and according to the document it is A Boolean property that indicates whether a SIM is present. I really appreciate Apple for introducing such an useful API but there are few queries on what are the requirements for using this API. Query 1: Do we need any special entitlements for making use of this API. ? If yes then what are those entitlements and are these entitlements available openly or we have to raise special request to apple for such entitlements? Query 2: What are the entries required to be added in info.plist for supporting the isSIMInserted api to work. Query 3: Is isSIMInserted api available for all type of apps because mine is a financial stock related app and i am looking forward to use this API for providing more security to the end user while registering through sms. As per the below link this api is only available for mobile Carrier apps but in official document there is no such mention. https://forums.developer.apple.com/forums/thread/760991 Please kindly help me on these queries ? Regards, Carol

CallKit blocked call remains Missed Calls
I’m currently developing a spam number blocking app using CallKit. I’ve confirmed that up to iOS 26 beta 5, there is a bug where number blocking doesn’t work. In my current tests, the ringtone doesn’t sound and the blocking works fine, but the call still appears in the missed calls list, which is bothersome. If the bug is fixed in future versions (as it was in previous versions), is there a way to block the number so that it also does not appear in missed calls?

Associated Domains and location of the AASA file when “service”=”Authsrv”
We are planning to use our internal IdP (PingFederate) for authentication of end users in their iOS apps using ASWebAuthenticationSession. Initial tests are successful, but the user is prompted for every login (and logouts) with a consent dialogue box: “AppName” wants to use “internal domain-name” to Sign In This allows the app and website to share information about you. Cancel Continue” Let’s say that our top-level domain is “company.no”, where our IdP is placed at “idp.company.com”. I have seen examples where the Associated domains entitlement points to the idp as a webserver for serving the JSON output AASA file. In this case that would be: authsrv: idp.company.com Anyone with experience implementing this structure with the IdP as webserver for serving the JSON output? Our problem is that trying to use the IdP as webserver for this purpose is that it is very complicated to modify the IdP’s webserver configuration. Also, this modification needs to be re-done every time we need to upgrade the IdP. My question is therefore also related to the options of which webserver to install the AASA file on. Has anyone installed the file on a generic webserver on the toplevel domain like “webserver.company.com” ?

Interactive Live Activity Bug in iOS 18 - perform not called
In iOS 18 (beta 1-4) when you set openAppWhenRun = false in your AppIntent of your live activity the perform function never gets called. In iOS 16 and 17 my live activities work. I have downloaded other apps and in their live activities any button tab which doesn´t open the app is also doing nothing in iOS 18. Has anyone got this working? Any comments from an Apple engineer on this?

How to Set Up Deferred Deep Linking
I have universal links configured for my iOS app which work as expected when the app is installed. When the app is not installed the universal link will go to the browser as expected. What I want to do is redirect to the app store, allow the user to install the app, then redirect them to the initial universal link. Redirecting them to the app store isn't the hard part I can achieve that from the webpage, however I don't know how to save a reference to that initial link to redirect them once they instal the app. What I want the flow to be for a user who doesn't have the app is: visit a universal link (example.com/UUID) redirect to the app store and install the app open the app and redirect to example.com/UUID I've seen some ways people are doing this with the clipboard but I don't love that solution, I also don't want to use a 3rd party service if I can avoid it - how are the 3rd party services making this happen?

About AppShortcuts limit
I developed a shortcut feature for my app using the AppIntents framework, which can display a maximum of 10 shortcuts in the Shortcuts app. However, I've noticed that apps like Tesla and Porsche have a significantly larger number of shortcuts, far exceeding 10. After searching online, I found that they might be using Intent Extensions and the SiriKit framework. I customized an Intent through SiriKit, checked the option for "Intent is user-configurable in the Shortcuts app" and "Add to Siri." I can find this shortcut when I search for it, but it does not appear on the homepage or under the app category. Is there any way to resolve this?

TipKit popover Issues...
I have been trying to use TipKit popovers in my App. They all behave as expected in the simulator but on a real device I am seeing some strange behaviors. I have a couple of instances of where the tip is displaying an entire sheet instead of just the popover. In another case I cannot dismiss the Tip. Has anyone seen these behaviors and are there known issues/workarounds for this? I am reluctant to use something that works perfectly in the simulator but gives unpredictable results on a device. Not a good user experience in my opinion.

Issues with Multicast Operations using NWConnectionGroup and NWMulticastGroup
Hello, I've been encountering some challenges while working with NWConnectionGroup and NWMulticastGroup for multicast operations on iOS. I have a few doubts and issues that I would like to address: 1. NWMulticastGroup Initialization It seems that when initializing NWMulticastGroup, only one NWEndpoint can be passed, and attempting to pass multiple endpoints results in failure. Can someone confirm if this behavior is correct? 2. Interface Level Control Upon initializing NWConnectionGroup, it appears that packets are received on all interfaces without the ability to control this at the interface level. Is this correct? If not is there a way to configure NWConnectionGroup to receive packets on all interfaces? 3. Sending Behavior During the send operation, it appears that the data is sent through any one of the available interfaces, and there doesn't seem to be an option to configure it to send through all available endpoints. Is there a way to enable sending data through all available endpoints? Any insights, guidance, or solutions to these issues would be greatly appreciated. Has anyone else encountered similar problems or found workarounds for these limitations? Thank you for your assistance and support. Thanks, Harshal

iOS26 beta4 CallKit block number function not working
Hi I'm novice developer. I’m currently developing a phone number blocking app using a Call Directory Handler Extension. The blocking feature works perfectly on iOS 18.5, but it doesn’t seem to function properly on iOS 26 beta 4. The extension is invoked, and the numbers are passed correctly, but incoming calls are not being blocked as expected. Is there a known issue with CallKit or Call Directory Extensions on iOS 26 beta 4

Defining custom file types
On iOS:When one receives a file of type .pages by email, Mail displays a large Pages icon and tapping on it opens Pages. (A long-press brings up the more complicated Actions screen). When one receives a file of type .vcf by email, Mail displays a large Contacts icon and tapping on it opens Contacts. (A long-press brings up the more complicated Actions screen).I have my own custom file type, .ripf, and I want to have the same behaviour because that is what my users will expect. Accordingly, in my app's Info.plist I have a CFBundleDocumentTypes dictionary providing a one-element LSItemContentTypes array referring to the name 'com.universalis.ripcard', and a UTExportedTypeDeclarations dictionary associating the UTTypeIdentifier 'com.universalis.ripcard' with a public.filename-extension 'ripf' and a public.mime-type 'text/vnd.universalis.ripcard'. All the other entries in those two dictionaries are present and correct as far as I can tell. Both CFBundleDocumentTypes[0].CFBundleTypeIconFiles and UTExportedTypeDeclarations[0].UTTypeIconFiles contain a list of icon files for the file type.(That rather long paragraph is to avoid boring people by including the entire Info.plist!)Some things do work..ripf files received via AirDrop bring up a suitable "Open with..." message which mentions my app, and tapping the message opens the app..ripf files received as an email attachment display as an icon. But it is the app's icon and not the icon of the file type.BUTTapping on a received file's icon does not open the app, but only opens the generic Actions screen, offering Message, Mail, WhatsApp, Notes, and only then (after the user has scrolled sideways) "Copy to..." my app. Now, the whole apparatus of CFBundleDocumentTypes and UTExportedTypeDeclarations is obscure and under-documented, and indeed the main documenation for the latter has a big warning at the top saying that it is obsolete and not being updated. That doesn't matter so much. What I need to know is:(Less important): How do I get the right file icon?(More important): How do I get my app to open when the icon is tapped, as Pages and Contacts do? There must be a way – unless special cases for those two apps are wired into iOS itself.
