Non-functioning IP_RECVIF on sockets proxied with NETransparentProxyProvider
Hi! I've noticed that the IP_RECVIF socket option, i.e.: int y = 1; setsockopt(fd, IPPROTO_IP, IP_RECVIF, &y, sizeof(y)); does not seem to work if the socket is proxied by a NETransparentProxyProvider type network extension: there's no ancillary data in messages received with recvmsg. As soon as I disable the network extension, recvmsg starts returning ancillary data containing the interface name. This seems to break some applications which rely on IP_RECVIF in the presence of a transparent proxy, making it, in fact, not transparent. One such example is Apple's own libresolv, which relies on IP_RECVIF and breaks if there's no ancillary data in the recvmsg result. I don't think that this is the intended behaviour, since IPV6_PKTINFO seems to work fine. I've filed a bug report (FB17586550) about this, however, I would greatly appreciate if someone could point me in the direction of a workaround.

RCS failing on iOS 18 when VPN active
When a VPN is active, RCS messaging does not work on iOS 18. I work on an iOS VPN app, and we were very appreciative of the excludeCellularServices network flag that was released during the iOS 16 cycle. It's a great solution to ensure the VPN doesn't interfere with cellular network features from the cellular provider. Separately - As a user, I'm excited that iOS 18 includes RCS messaging. Unfortunately, RCS messaging is not working when our VPN is active (when checking on the iOS 18 release candidate). My guess is that RCS is not excluded from the VPN tunnel, even when excludeCellularServices is true. It seems like RCS should be added in this situation, as it is a cell provider service. Can RCS be added as a service that is excluded from the VPN tunnel when excludeCellularServices is true? (I've also sent this via feedback assistant, as 15094270.)

StoreKit 2 failure on tvOS 18.2
Please help! I have a subscription IAP failing on tvOS 18.2 at: func makePurchase(_ product: Product) async throws { let result = try await product.purchase() //ERROR OCCURS HERE (See error message below) ... Xcode Console message: "Could not get confirmation scene ID for [insert my IAP id here]" The IAP subscription was working fine on 18.1 and earlier, and the same IAP and code is also running fine on iOS 18.2. The tvOS error on 18.2 happens both in production and sandbox. Are there any changes to StoreKit 2 which might cause this error?

AccessorySetupKit documentation
This is not a question but rather a small bit of documentation on how Accessory Setup Kit actually works. I spent a couple days figuring this out so I thought let's share my findings. The example app is very light and the documentation definitely has room for improvement so here are a couple important notes. Findings: If you're running > iOS 18 and add any property to your Info.plist file you're no longer able to scan for devices by using CBCentralManager.scanForPeriphals. This will no longer return discoverable devices. Below iOS 18 these properties in the Info.plist are ignored by the OS and you can safely use the "legacy" method of connecting to bluetooth devices. If you're running > iOS 26 the removeAccessory will show a prompt to the user. If you're running < 26 you can silently remove the accessory and start each session with a clean state. If you create CBCentralManager before you start the ASK session you'll not get the state = PoweredOn. If you have 0 accessories connected to your application CBCentralManager will never enter the state = PoweredOn when you create the CBCentralManager. Pre-ASK this would be the trigger for iOS to ask the user permission. This is no longer necessary with ASK. If you have have 1 or more accessories authorized to your app this will be returned in the session.accessories after the session has started. This is an important indicator to determine app behavior. If you have 1 or more accessories CBCentralManager.scanForPeripherals will ONLY return previously authorized AND discoverable devices. Use this for when you want to connect to a previously authorized device. If you have 1 or more accessories and the CBCentralManager.scanForPeripherals returns nothing you can (safely) assume the user attempts to onboard a new device. So for my application I take the following steps: Check for iOS version, if > iOS 18 start ASK session. Are there previously authorized devices? -- yes: run CBCentralManger.scanForPeripherals -- no: show the picker Did the scan return any devices? -- yes: show UI to select device or connect with first available device in the list -- no: show the picker Feel free to add any of your findings and @Apple please update the documentation!

Clarification on AskCenter and Age Assurance APIs for Texas Regulatory Compliance
Hello, I’m currently reviewing and implementing age assurance and parental approval flows using AgeRangeService and PermissionKit (AskCenter) in the context of Texas regulatory compliance requirements. While the high-level APIs are clear, there are several technical aspects where the intended usage patterns are not fully explicit in the documentation. Clarification on these points would help ensure our implementation aligns with system expectations and regulatory obligations. ⸻ Querying the current approval state for SignificantAppUpdateTopic AskCenter.ask(...) returns Void, and AskCenter.responses(for:) provides an AsyncSequence of approval events. Is there an official or recommended way to determine whether a SignificantAppUpdateTopic has already been approved when the app launches, or is listening for future responses events the only supported mechanism? ⸻ Behavior of AskCenter.responses(for:) regarding past approvals When subscribing to AskCenter.responses(for:): • Does the stream replay previously recorded approval or decline decisions? • Or does it only emit events that occur after subscription? This affects whether the listener must be registered early in the app lifecycle. ⸻ Recommended lifecycle timing for registering a responses(for:) listener What is the intended or recommended time to register a responses(for:) listener? • At application launch • Immediately before calling ask(...) • When entering a specific gated feature Clarification on the expected lifecycle usage would be helpful. ⸻ Repeated calls to ask(...) after approval If AskCenter.ask(...) is called again for the same SignificantAppUpdateTopic after parental approval has already been granted: • Is the request ignored? • Is a new approval request sent to the parent? • Or is the call handled idempotently by the system? ⸻ Delivery of approval results when the child app is not running If a parent approves or declines a SignificantAppUpdateTopic while the child app is not running: • Will the approval decision be delivered as a responses(for:) event on the next app launch? • Or is the app expected to persist approval state locally? ⸻ Persistence of approval state Is the approval decision for SignificantAppUpdateTopic persisted by the system at the OS level, or is the app responsible for storing approval state? Additionally, does the approval persist across: • app restarts? • app deletion and reinstallation? ⸻ Meaning of activeParentalControls.significantAppChangeApprovalRequired How is activeParentalControls.significantAppChangeApprovalRequired determined? • Is this value explicitly configured by a parent (for example via Screen Time)? • Or is it automatically determined by the system based on region, age, or regulatory requirements? ⸻ Relationship between significantAppChangeApprovalRequired and AgeRangeService When activeParentalControls contains significantAppChangeApprovalRequired, is it still expected that apps call AgeRangeService.requestAgeRange(...)? Or can the presence of this flag be treated as sufficient indication that the user is a minor for gating purposes? ⸻ Recommended interpretation of AgeRangeDeclaration Is the intended usage of AgeRangeDeclaration to handle each case individually, or is it acceptable and recommended to interpret the values as different trust levels (for example, self-declared vs. government ID or payment verified)? ⸻ Clarification on these points would help ensure that implementations of age assurance and parental approval flows are consistent with system behavior while meeting regulatory compliance requirements. Thank you for your guidance.

Changing Screen Time Passcode does not protect apps with Screen Time enabled
Hello, The purpose of "Screen Time Passcode" under Settings/Screen Time is to protect Screen Time preferences and it is asked every time the user updates Downtime, App Limits, Content & Privacy Restrictions and so on. But the private passcode is not requested if the user disables Screen Time for a particular app (only Face ID or phone passcode is requested, but not the private Screen Time passcode). I think this is a mistake, I think the purpose of a private Screen Time passcode is to protect all settings, including apps that use this API, right? Is there any solution to this? Thank you.

Shortcuts | Transaction Automation | IOS 18
Hello forum, Hope all is great! I have a shortcut automation which uses the transaction trigger. Since updating to ios 18 the transaction trigger does not work anymore. Whenever a transaction is done, the “Running your automation” notification does not show up and the automation does not work. To share with you the steps I’ve done so far: 1.Remove the automation and do it again 2.Remove the card from apple pay 3. Delete and install again the shortcut app 4. Turned on and off the phone I can confirm the automation works on my other iPhone with the latest version of IOS 17. Would really appreciate if anyone has any insights about that, or if this happened to you as well. Cheers! Dorin

Flutter library that basically makes a call every "x" minutes if the app is in the background.
Hi everyone, could you help us? We implemented a Flutter library that basically makes a call every x minutes if the app is in the background, but when I generate the version via TestFlight for testing, it doesn't work. Can you help us understand why? Below is a more detailed technical description. Apple Developer Technical Support Request Subject: BGTaskScheduler / Background Tasks Not Executing in TestFlight - Flutter App with workmanager Plugin Issue Summary Background tasks scheduled using BGTaskScheduler are not executing when the app is distributed via TestFlight. The same implementation works correctly when running the app locally via USB/Xcode debugging. We are developing a Flutter application that needs to perform periodic API calls when the app is in the background. We have followed all documentation and implemented the required configurations, but background tasks are not being executed in the TestFlight build. App Information Field Value App Version 3.1.15 (Build 311) iOS Minimum Deployment Target iOS 15.0 Framework Flutter Flutter SDK Version ^3.7.2 Technical Environment Flutter Dependencies (Background Task Related) Package Version Purpose workmanager ^0.9.0+3 Main background task scheduler (uses BGTaskScheduler on iOS 13+) flutter_background_service ^5.0.5 Background service management flutter_background_service_android ^6.2.4 Android-specific background service flutter_local_notifications ^19.4.2 Local notifications for background alerts timezone ^0.10.0 Timezone support for scheduling Other Relevant Flutter Dependencies Package Version firebase_core 4.0.0 firebase_messaging (via native Podfile) sfmc (Salesforce Marketing Cloud) ^9.0.0 geolocator ^14.0.0 permission_handler ^12.0.0+1 Info.plist Configuration We have added the following configurations to Info.plist: UIBackgroundModes <key>UIBackgroundModes</key> <array> <string>location</string> <string>remote-notification</string> <string>processing</string> </array> ### BGTaskSchedulerPermittedIdentifiers ```xml <key>BGTaskSchedulerPermittedIdentifiers</key> <array> <string>br.com.unidas.apprac.ios.workmanager.carrinho_api_task</string> <string>br.com.unidas.apprac.ios.workmanager</string> <string>be.tramckrijter.workmanager.BackgroundTask</string> </array> **Note:** We included multiple identifier formats as recommended by the `workmanager` Flutter plugin documentation: 1. `{bundleId}.ios.workmanager.{taskName}` - Custom task identifier 2. `{bundleId}.ios.workmanager` - Default workmanager identifier 3. `be.tramckrijter.workmanager.BackgroundTask` - Plugin's default identifier (as per plugin documentation) ## AppDelegate.swift Configuration We have configured the `AppDelegate.swift` with the following background processing setup: ```swift // In application(_:didFinishLaunchingWithOptions:) // Configuration to enable background processing via WorkManager // The "processing" mode in UIBackgroundModes allows WorkManager to use BGTaskScheduler (iOS 13+) // This is required to execute scheduled tasks in background (e.g., API calls) // Note: User still needs to have Background App Refresh enabled in iOS settings if UIApplication.shared.backgroundRefreshStatus == .available { // Allows iOS system to schedule background tasks with minimum interval UIApplication.shared.setMinimumBackgroundFetchInterval(UIApplication.backgroundFetchIntervalMinimum) } ## WorkManager Implementation (Dart/Flutter) ### Initialization ```dart /// Initializes WorkManager static Future<void> initialize() async { await Workmanager().initialize(callbackDispatcher, isInDebugMode: false); print('WorkManagerService: WorkManager initialized'); } ### Task Registration /// Schedules API execution after a specific delay ## Observed Behavior ### Works (Debug/USB Connection) - When running the app via Xcode/USB debugging - Background tasks are scheduled and executed as expected - API calls are made successfully when the app is backgrounded ### Does NOT Work (TestFlight) - When the app is distributed via TestFlight - Background tasks appear to be scheduled (no errors in code) - Tasks are **never executed** when the app is in background - We have tested with: - Background App Refresh enabled in iOS Settings - App used frequently - Device connected to WiFi and charging - Waited for extended periods (hours) ## Possible heart points 1. **Are there any additional configurations required for `BGTaskScheduler` to work in TestFlight/Production builds that are not required for debug builds?** 2. **Is the identifier format correct?** We are using: `br.com.unidas.apprac.ios.workmanager.carrinho_api_task` - Should it match exactly with the task name registered in code? 3. **Are there any known issues with Flutter's `workmanager` plugin and iOS BGTaskScheduler in production environments?** 4. **Is there any way to verify through logs or system diagnostics if the background tasks are being rejected by the system?** 5. **Could there be any conflict between our other background modes (`location`, `remote-notification`) and `processing`?** 6. **Does the Salesforce Marketing Cloud SDK (SFMC) interfere with BGTaskScheduler operations?** ## Additional Context - We have verified that `Background App Refresh` is enabled for our app in iOS Settings - The app has proper entitlements for push notifications and location services - Firebase, SFMC (Salesforce Marketing Cloud), and other SDKs are properly configured - The issue is **only** present in TestFlight builds, not in debug/USB-connected builds ## References - [Apple Documentation - BGTaskScheduler](https://developer.apple.com/documentation/backgroundtasks/bgtaskscheduler) - [Apple Documentation - Choosing Background Strategies](https://developer.apple.com/documentation/backgroundtasks/choosing_background_strategies_for_your_app) Thank you

CarPlay not working on iOS 26 beta
Just wanted to check here to see if anyone else is running into the issue of CarPlay not working at all on iOS 26 Beta 1, even with the update on Friday. I plug my phone in (wired) and CarPlay never shows up. I've seen a Reddit thread where other folks are seeing the same thing.

KDK for current stable version (26.1) missing
The current stable macOS version, 26.1 (build 25B78) is missing a corresponding Kernel Debug Kit (KDK) on the developer downloads page. This means I can't do any kernel-level development tasks currently. For example, if I try to build a new kernel collection with kmutil I get the message Missing Developer Kit: As of macOS 13.0, you will need to install a KDK matching your build 25B78 to rebuild kernel collections. but there is no build 25B78 KDK available to download. The latest 26.1 KDK on the download page is 25B5062e (from a beta I believe) and the final stable KDK for build 25B78 (which kernel development tools require) was never published. Is there any workaround for this to correctly do kernel-level development targeting the latest stable release, or a timeline for when the KDK will release? Thanks!

Unfinished transactions prevent the confirmation sheet
We feel like we're at the end of the long and treacherous process of migrating to StoreKit2. But we've hit a small snag. When testing in the sandbox environment, we've found that if we don't finish a transactions, no subsequent purchase (invoked via call to purchase or the other purchase) will produce the confirmation sheet. Is this the expected behavior? The behavior is observed on iOS26 and 18. Our app will only attempt to finish the transaction if it successfully uploads the receipt to our API. If it fails to do so for whatever reason, the transaction is left unfinished. Whilst the user is informed about this, users will commonly try again. Our concern is that since the confirmation sheet will not be shown again, users will not know they are actually paying again - most certainly not the UX we want to have. We'd much rather have our users be fully aware when they're paying us money. The reason we're choosing not to finish the transaction until our backend has received it and confirmed the receipt to be valid is that the only way the user can get their product is if the server side is aware of this and add more time to the users account. When finishing the transaction via finish immediately after the purchase() call, the confirmation sheet is shown every time after subsequent calls to purchase(). Again, is this the expected behavior both in the sandbox and the production environments? Are we doing something wrong or misusing the product API? We are somewhat stumped because technically, we could get the first confirmation for a product purchase, and then finish it only after an arbitrary amount of calls to purchase() have been made - the user will believe they will have paid only once, but we will receive however much money we can drain from their account - most certainly not the kind of app we want to develop. Please advise and best regards, Emīls

Network Extension App for MacOS with 3 Extensions
Hi All, I am currently working on a Network Extension App for MacOS using 3 types of extensions provided by Apple's Network Extension Framework. Content Filter, App Proxy (Want to get/capture/log all HTTP/HTTPS traffic), DNS Proxy (Want to get/capture/log all DNS records). Later parse into human readable format. Is my selection of network extension types correct for the intended logs I need? I am able to run with one extension: Main App(Xcode Target1) <-> Content Filter Extension. Here there is a singleton class IPCConnection between App(ViewController.swift) which is working fine with NEMachServiceName from Info.plist of ContentFilter Extension(Xcode Target2) However, when I add an App Proxy extension as a new Xcode Target3, I think the App and extension's communication getting messed up and App not getting started/Crashing. Here, In the same Main App, I am adding new separate IPCConnection for this extension. Here is the project organization/folder structure. MyNetworkExtension ├──MyNetworkExtension(Xcode Target1) │ ├── AppDelegate.swift │ ├── Assets.xcassets │ ├── Info.plist │ ├── MyNetworkExtension.entitlement │ | ── Main │ |-----ViewController.swift │ └── Base.lproj │ └── Main.storyboard ├── ContentFilterExtension(Xcode Target2) │ ├── ContentFilterExtension.entitlement │ │ ├── FilterDataProvider.swift │ │ ├── Info.plist │ │ ├── IPCConnection.swift │ │ └── main.swift ├── AppProxyProviderExtension(Xcode Target3) │ ├── AppProxyProviderExtension.entitlement │ │ ├── AppProxyIPCConnection.swift │ │ ├── AppProxyProvider.swift │ │ ├── Info.plist │ │ └── main.swift └── Frameworks ├── libbsm.tbd └── NetworkExtension.framework Is my Approach for creating a single Network Extension App with Multiple extensions correct or is there any better approach of project organization that will make future modifications/working easier and makes the maintenance better? I want to keep the logic for each extension separate while having the same, single Main App that manages everything(installing, activating, managing identifiers, extensions, etc). What's the best approach to establish a Communication from MainApp to each extension separately, without affecting one another? Is it good idea to establish 3 separate IPC Connections(each is a singleton class) for each extension? Are there any suggestions you can provide that relates to my use case of capturing all the network traffic logs(including HTTP/HTTPS, DNS Records, etc), especially on App to Extension Communication, where my app unable to keep multiple IPC Connections and maintain them separately? I've been working on it for a while, and still unable to make the Network Extension App work with multiple extensions(each as a new Xcode target). Main App with single extension is working fine, but if I add new extension, App getting crashed. I suspect it's due to XPC/IPC connection things! I really appreciate any support on this either directly or by any suggestions/resources that will help me get better understand and make some progress. Please reach out if in case any clarifications or specific information that's needed to better understand my questions. Thank you very much

Clarification on Offer-Code Redemption When Streamlined Purchasing Is Turned Off
Background We sell a suite of iPadOS/macOS apps that share a single auto-renewable subscription using this architecture. Per “Offering a Subscription Across Multiple Apps” we require users to sign in before purchasing so we can propagate the entitlement and avoid duplicate subscriptions across apps. To enforce that sign-in step we plan to turn off Streamlined Purchasing in App Store Connect. Question We also want to distribute subscription offer codes (for promotion, retention, appeasing dissatisfied customers, etc.). After Streamlined Purchasing is turned off, will customers still be able to redeem offer codes outside the app (App Store “Redeem Code” UI or redemption URL)? If outside-app redemption remains possible, it bypasses our sign-in gate and could let the same customer buy the suite twice (once via each app). Is there an approved method to limit offer-code redemption to the in-app flow only, or otherwise prevent such duplicate subscriptions? If no such limitation exists, what best-practice workaround does Apple recommend for multi-app suites that must turn off Streamlined Purchasing yet still wish to use offer codes without duplication risk? Environment StoreKit 2; server-side receipt validation & cross-app entitlement propagation. Apps support the in-app presentCodeRedemptionSheet flow. We expect to use both one-time-use and custom offer codes.

Trying to make the URL filter sample work
Hello, I've been experimenting with the new NEURLFilter API and so far the results are kind of strange. SimpleURLFilter sample contains a bloom filter that seems to be built from this dataset in pir-service-example. I was able to run SimpleURLFilter sample and configure it to use PIRService from the example repo. I also observed the requests that iOS has been sending: requesting config and then sending /queries request. What I haven't seen is any .deny verdict for any URL. Even when calling NEURLFilter.verdict(for: url) directly I cannot see a .deny verdict. Is there anything wrong with the sample or is there a known issue with NEURLFilter in the current beta (beta 8) that prevents it from working?

Custom HCE payment UI
We are currently developing a wallet solution that uses the iOS EEA HCE API. During the development of our solution we have been unable to identify how we can opt out of using the native HCE payment modal screen or biometric authentication UI so that we can customise the experience to align with our overall customer experience. The only available customisation is a label below the title of the screen which does not meet our needs. Please can you advise how we can opt out of using the native HCE payment modal screen. If it is not possible to opt out of using the native HCE payment modal screen, please can you provide the rationale for this given the Digital Marketing Act interoperability guidelines and EU Commitments in case AT.40452.

How to open parent app from `ShieldActionDelegate`
Hello, I think it is quite a common use-case to open the parent app that owns the ShieldActionDelegate when the user selects an action in the Shield. There are only three options available that we can do in response to an action: ShieldActionResponse.none ShieldActionResponse.close ShieldActionResponse.defer It would be great if this new one would be added as well: ShieldActionResponse.openParentApp While finding a workaround for now, the problem is that the ShieldActionDelegate is not a normal app extension. That means, normal tricks do not work to open the parent app from here. For example, UIApplication.shared.open(url) does not work because we can’t access UIApplication from the ShieldActionDelegate unfortunately. NSExtensionContext is also not available in the ShieldActionDelegate unfortunately, so that’s also not possible. There are apps however, that managed to find a workaround, in my research I stumbled across these two: https://apps.apple.com/de/app/applocker-passcode-lock-apps/id1132845904?l=en-GB https://apps.apple.com/us/app/app-lock/id6448239603 Please find a screen recording (gif) attached. Their workaround is 100% what I’m looking for, so there MUST be a way to do so that is compliant with the App Store guidelines (after all, the apps are available on the App Store!). I had documented my feature request more than 2 years ago in this radar as well: FB10393561
