Request of CarPlay Navigation Entitlement when having the Driving Task one
I have the CarPlay Entitlement "Driving Task" and two of my apps use it. Now, in both apps, I have implemented Navigation. I requested the Navigation CarPlay Entitlement when the feature was mature and builds were available in Test Flight, since I wanted to release the new versions of the apps with navigation available both on the iPhone and in CarPlay. I got no answer to my request, so I decided to release the apps with only navigation in the iPhone and the Driving Task functionality in CarPlay, thinking that maybe being live with navigation in the App Store was a requirement. I have asked permission again, and so far, the request is being ignored again. What are the requirements to get the Navigation CarPlay Entitlement? If the app is approved for navigation, is there something else the app must do to get the entitlement? Requirements for CarPlay Entitlements seem quite obscure, are they listed anywhere? Is there a technical problem to move from an existing CarPlay Entitlement to another? Can that be the reason the entitlement has not been granted? Some of my competitors have the CarPlay Navigation entitlement. My use case is the same (in a better app in my opinion, of course). But I am only getting bad reviews because "the app does not include the map in CarPlay" after the big investment in implementing navigation in the apps. Any help or insight would be appreciated.

EASession return nil on iOS18
On iOS 18.x when try to create EASession we get nil, but on iOS 17.x everything works. We have app which use USB cable for connecting external accessories. Scenario is when we have fresh instal, connecting with accessory work fine, EASession is created, streams are opened. When we unplug USB, we close streams, remove any reference to session and accessory, remove accessory delegate. When plug it again, creating EASession is returning nil. Only after restarting iPhone, we can create new EASession with appropriate protocol and accessory. Every next attempt without reseting iPhone is failing. Logs from accessory is following: 00:05:51.811000 : onUSBDeviceFound(pDevice=0xffc818)) iPhone USB device already in the device list w/id=1 -> update status now[21;1H 00:05:51.830000 : setConnectionStatus(status=connected) [devId=1] state updated -> forward[21;1H Capabilities indicate HostMode possibility => role switch is triggered 00:05:52.848000 : updateDIPODeviceConnections() iPhoneUSB w/caps=5 (=CarPlay or HostMode), deviceTag=2 in Device mode -> request role switch[21;1H Role switch seems to be successful 00:05:54.914000 : setSwitching('stable') changed[21;1H 00:05:54.915000 : updateDIPODeviceConnections() iPhoneUSB w/caps=2, id=1, deviceTag=2 and native transport -> request app launch and call connectUSB[21;1H 00:05:54.967000 : ConnectiAP2(05ac:12a8, s/n='00008101000160921E90801E', writeFD='/dev/ffs/ep3', readFD='/dev/ffs/ep4', hostMode){3}[21;1H Native transport should become available but does not (the following line is not present for failed case. ES_NOTIFY_OPEN Fires After AUTH_OPEN Denial – Why?
Will the ES_EVENT_TYPE_NOTIFY_OPEN event be called back when the user has already returned es_respond_flags_result(client, msg, 0, false) in ES_EVENT_TYPE_AUTH_OPEN? I believe the ES_EVENT_TYPE_NOTIFY_OPEN event should not be triggered if the user has already denied the open operation in the ES_EVENT_TYPE_AUTH_OPEN response handler. However, during my testing, ES_EVENT_TYPE_NOTIFY_OPEN was still being called even after I blocked the open process. Is this behavior correct?

Strange Live Activity Occurrence Behavior
I am seeing a really weird behavior with Live Activities. The Live Activity is always appearing on the simulator. However the Live Activity is only appearing on my physical device when there is no other widget in the widget bundle shown below. @main struct HoerspielWidgetsBundle: WidgetBundle { var body: some Widget { // Uncomment the line below and the Live Activity will no longer appear // UpNextWidget() PlaybackLiveActivity() } } Annotating that var with @WidgetBundle has no effect. There are no logs indicating an error, the function to request a Live Activity does not throw and the status of the activity is active. Both the widget and the Live Activity are working fine otherwise. NSSupportsLiveActivities is set to true in the correct Info.plist file. I am not running any beta software and the physical iPhone is on the newest version (iOS 18.5). Using the template when adding a new target in Xcode, I was able to set up a similar app where the Live Activity works as expected. I am really at a loss here which additional information I should provide or how this issue can be resolved. Thank you for your help.

CarPlay Support
Hi All, We've been working on a new CarPlay-supported App and are hoping for advice on how to achieve this. We have completed the CarPlay Entitledment Request, but have not received any response from Apple. Given we're close to launch on Android, we'd love to have these projects completed together. Any advice on how to make contact with the approvals team, or suggestions on how long this will normally take? If they're no longer taking applications or rejection is high, any guidance would be greatly appreciated too!

Symbol not found: _$sSo22CLLocationCoordinate2DVSE12CoreLocationMc when building for visionOS 2.5 with Xcode 16.3
Hello, I'm encountering a runtime crash when building my visionOS app with Xcode 16.3 for visionOS 2.5. Our existing AppStore/Testflight app is also instantly crashing on visionOS 2.5 when opened but works fine on e.g visionOS 2.4. The app builds successfully but crashes on launch with this symbol lookup error (slightly adjusted because the forum complained regarding sensitive data): Symbol not found: _$sSo22CLLocationCoordinate2DVSE12CoreLocationMc Referenced from: <XXXXXXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXXXXXXXXXX> /private/var/containers/Bundle/Application/XXXXXXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXXXXXXXXXX/MyApp.app/MyApp.debug.dylib Expected in: <XXXXXXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXXXXXXXXXX> /usr/lib/swift/libswiftCoreLocation.dylib dyld config: DYLD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/lib/system/introspection DYLD_INSERT_LIBRARIES=/usr/lib/libLogRedirect.dylib:/usr/lib/libBacktraceRecording.dylib:/usr/lib/libMainThreadChecker.dylib:/System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/GPUToolsCapture.framework/GPUToolsCapture:/usr/lib/libViewDebuggerSupport.dylib I've already implemented my own Codable conformance for CLLocationCoordinate2D: extension CLLocationCoordinate2D: Codable { // implementation details... } This worked fine on previous visionOS/Xcode versions. Has anyone encountered this issue or found a solution? System details: macOS version: 15.3.2 Xcode version: 16.3 visionOS target: 2.5 Thank you!

Find My Network System
Hey everyone, how’s it going? I’d like to know if, by enrolling in Apple’s MFi program, I’ll gain access to develop my own tags and my own app to track them using Apple’s Find network. I also read that there’s an estimated cost of $4 per device—does that apply to each device produced, or only at the time of registering the device, with no fee for additional units?

NSUserDefault issue after upgrading to iPadOS 17.7.7
Our app needs to read server settings that are configured in the app's settings. In iPadOS 17.7.7 specifically (iPadOS 17.7.6, iPadOS 18.5, and other versions works fine) one can't retrieve any setting from the settings bundle using: if ([[NSUserDefaults standardUserDefaults] objectForKey:@"setting_hostname"] != nil) serverHostname = [[NSUserDefaults standardUserDefaults] objectForKey:@"setting_hostname"]; Also, when writing a custom value in NSUserDefaults like: [[NSUserDefaults standardUserDefaults] setObject:@"Test" forKey:@"test"]; [[NSUserDefaults standardUserDefaults] synchronize]; NSString* test = [[NSUserDefaults standardUserDefaults] objectForKey:@"test"]; NSLog(@"%@", test); Shows an error in the console: Couldn't write values for keys ( test ) in CFPrefsPlistSource<0x3017ecc60> (Domain: <redacted_bundle_id>, User: kCFPreferencesCurrentUser, ByHost: No, Container: (null), Contents Need Refresh: No): setting these preferences requires user-preference-write or file-write-data sandbox access When closing the app and reopening it, and then reading the value of [[NSUserDefaults standardUserDefaults] objectForKey:@"test"]; returns null

iCloud Drive changes in iOS 18.4 and later break stated API
The NSMetadataUbiquitousItemDownloadingStatusKey indicates the status of a ubiquitous (iCloud Drive) file. A key value of NSMetadataUbiquitousItemDownloadingStatusDownloaded is defined as indicating there is a local version of this file available. The most current version will get downloaded as soon as possible . However this no longer occurs since iOS 18.4. A ubiquitous file may remain in the NSMetadataUbiquitousItemDownloadingStatusDownloaded state for an indefinite period. There is a workaround: call [NSFileManager startDownloadingUbiquitousItemAtURL: error:] however this shouldn't be necessary, and introduces delays over the previous behaviour. Has anyone else seen this behaviour? Is this a permanent change? FB17662379

MacOS Catalina 10.15.7 CoreGraphic.framework not find symbol
I recently needed to develop an application to obtain the window list, which requires Screen Recording permissions. Apple's official documentation mentions using the two functions CGPreflightScreenCaptureAccess and CGRequestScreenCaptureAccess to request permissions. These functions are stated to be available since version 10.15. However, when I used these two functions on a device running macOS 10.15.7, I encountered the errors shown in the attached screenshot. I used the nm tool to inspect the symbols in the CoreGraphics.framework and found that these two functions were not present. Could you help me understand why this is happening?

ModelContext.model(for:) returns deleted objects
I'm writing some tests to confirm the behavior of my app. White creating a model actor to delete objects I realized that ModelContext.model(for:) does return objects that are deleted. I was able to reproduces this with this minimal test case: @Model class Activity { init() {} } struct MyLibraryTests { let modelContainer = try! ModelContainer( for: Activity.self, configurations: ModelConfiguration( isStoredInMemoryOnly: true ) ) init() throws { let context = ModelContext(modelContainer) context.insert(Activity()) try context.save() } @Test func modelForIdAfterDelete() async throws { let context = ModelContext(modelContainer) let id = try context.fetch(FetchDescriptor<Activity>()).first!.id context.delete(context.model(for: id) as! Activity) try context.save() let result = context.model(for: id) as? Activity #expect(result == nil) // Expectation failed: (result → MyLibrary.Activity) == nil } @Test func fetchDescriptorAfterDelete() async throws { let context = ModelContext(modelContainer) let id = try context.fetch(FetchDescriptor<Activity>()).first!.id context.delete(context.model(for: id) as! Activity) try context.save() let result = try context.fetch( FetchDescriptor<Activity>(predicate: #Predicate { $0.id == id }) ).first #expect(result == nil) } } Here I create a new context, insert an model and save it. The test modelForIdAfterDelete does fail, as result still contains the deleted object. I also tried to check #expect(result!.isDeleted), but it is also false. With the second test I use a FetchDescriptor to retrieve the object by ID and it correctly returns nil. Shouldn't both methods use a consistent behavior?

Is there a public method to know when an APNS has appeared on the screen? wrapping up a very high end photogrammetry app, using the front facing camera and screen illumination- incoming notifications completely throw off the math. Live Activity Button Interactivity and UI Updates
I have implemented a Live Activity that includes two buttons. Currently, both buttons utilize deep links to open the main application, where I then detect the URL to perform the corresponding action. My primary question is: Is it possible to update a button's title and/or color within a Live Activity without requiring the main application to open?
