Audio Session in Notification Service Extension
Is there anyway that I could use AVAudioSession, AVAudioPlayer or anything similar in Notification Service Extension? I am trying to implement Audio Playback in the Notification Service Extension to play specific audio file when receiving Notification regardless the app state(foreground, background or killed), but I am not able to activate audio session in Notification Service Extension. Start live activity with push notification problem
Hey there, i implemented live activity in my app and iam trying to start the live activity from push notification, updates works fine even when the app is in background but starting the activity creating issue mostly on background and kill mode when i check the delivery of live activity on cloudkit console it says stored for device power considerations. anyone having the same issue ?

Provisioning Profile Not Including Push Notifications Capability
Provisioning profiles created for my App ID are not including the Push Notifications capability, even though Push Notifications is enabled in the App ID configuration in Apple Developer Portal. I have enabled Push Notifications for my App ID (com.abc.app) in the Apple Developer Portal. The capability shows as enabled and saved. However, when provisioning profiles are generated (either manually or through third-party tools like Expo Application Services), they do not include: The Push Notifications capability The aps-environment entitlement This results in build failures with the following errors: Provisioning profile "*[expo] com.abc.app AppStore [timestamp]" doesn't support the Push Notifications capability. Provisioning profile "*[expo] com.abc.app AppStore [timestamp]" doesn't include the aps-environment entitlement. Steps Taken ✅ Enabled Push Notifications in App ID configuration (com.mirova.app) ✅ Saved the App ID configuration multiple times ✅ Waited for Apple's systems to sync (waited 5-10 minutes) ✅ Removed and re-added Push Notifications capability (unchecked, saved, re-checked, saved) ✅ Created Push Notification key in Apple Developer Portal ✅ Verified Push Notifications is checked and saved in App ID ❌ Provisioning profiles still created without Push Notifications capability Expected Behavior When Push Notifications is enabled for an App ID, any provisioning profiles created for that App ID should automatically include: Push Notifications capability aps-environment entitlement (set to production or development) Actual Behavior Provisioning profiles are created without Push Notifications capability, even though: Push Notifications is enabled in App ID App ID configuration is saved Sufficient time has passed for sync Additional Information Push Notification Key: Created and valid (Key ID: 3YKQ7XLG9L and 747G8W2J68) Distribution Certificate: Valid and active Provisioning Profile Type: App Store distribution Third-party Tool: Using Expo Application Services (EAS) for builds, but issue persists with manually created profiles as well Questions Is there a delay or sync issue between enabling Push Notifications in App ID and it being available for provisioning profiles? Darwin Notification vs polling every 5 seconds.
There is one xpc server and two xpc clients (clientA and clientB). When clientB sends a message to the xpc server, xpc server fills a value for dummyString in it's memory and I want clientA to know that dummyString got updated and also the new value for this dummyString. The updation of dummyString is not something that happens often. Two options we tried: Have a timer for 5 seconds in clientA and keep polling and request for the value of this dummyString. Setup a darwin notification in server that gets posted whenever dummyString is being updated. clientA receives requests for dummyString value only when it observes a notification being posted. Which of these two approaches causes the least delay for clientA to know the updated value of dummyString?

Unable to Receive APNs Device Token in Unity iOS App Despite Proper Configuration
I’m currently developing an iOS app built in Unity, exported to Xcode for signing and deployment. The app needs to register for Apple Push Notifications (APNs) to retrieve the device token and register it with a backend service (PlayFab). Despite enabling the required capabilities and entitlements, the app never receives a device token — the authorization request succeeds, but the token remains empty (req.DeviceToken is null in Unity). I’ve confirmed that the issue occurs before PlayFab or Firebase are involved, meaning the app never receives the token from Apple Push Notification service (APNs) itself. Alarm sounds ios without critical alerts
Hello guys, i need a little help. Im building an alarm clock app, pretty good one, and i have my own sounds i want to use as the alarm ring but notifications on apple cant work when the phone is turned off or the device is in silent mode (Or at least thats how i understand it) unless they have this feature called critical alerts that lets you have notifications even when the phone is turned off or silented. Without this, the phone can do just one beep and only when you open the notification, then it starts ringing but how is this supposed to wake you up? Alarmy has this worked out fine and i cant figure out how, maybe someone here knows. Im thinking maybe they have the critical alerts enabled but then i dont know why Apple would approve theirs and not mine. I tried to submit for the critical alerts feature but apple didn’t approve it saying the app is not the use case and im kinda lost. The whole app could be ruined because of this. So my question is. is there any way how i can use my custom sounds as a notifications on ios even if the phone is turned off or in silent mode+turned off and the app is not straight up running without being approved for critical alerts? Notification coordination between iOS and watchOS is not working properly
Notification coordination between iOS and watchOS is not working properly watchOS and iOS try to coordinate between phone and watch notifications. The concept here is that if there is a main app and a companion app, they could both be sending a notification, then the notification would alert on both, which is a deviation from how notification mirroring is handled if there is an iOS app but no watch app. The watch waits for the iOS notification to fire so they can determine if this is the same notification that needs to be deduped, displayed on one device but not the other, or separate notifications to be displayed both. If there is no notification on the phone, the watch will timeout after 13 seconds and alert anyway. If you have an iOS companion app, the best solution to this is to send the same notification on both devices simultaneously, and ensuring the UNNotificationRequest.identifier matches on both notifications. This will let the systems determine how to handle the notification correctly and quickly, and the notification will alert right away. https://developer.apple.com/forums/thread/765669 According to the above article, "when a notification arrives on watchOS alone first, it coordinates with iOS," but in reality, it doesn't work properly. Detailed process of this phenomenon watchOS receives a notification. On watchOS, the notification is not immediately shown to the user. iOS receives a notification with the same UNNotificationRequest.identifier as in (1). The notification in (3) does not appear on either iOS or watchOS. However, the notification from (3) does appear in iOS Notification Center. Thirteen seconds after watchOS received the notification, the notification from (1) is shown to the user on watchOS. In the end, the iOS and watchOS notifications are not consolidated and each remains in its respective notification center. Up to (3) there are no issues. Starting with (4), both iOS and watchOS exhibit a lot of odd behavior. This phenomenon occurs with both local notifications and push notifications. When iOS receives the notification first, there is no problem. The notification for watch received later is processed appropriately, and the watchOS notification is not additionally displayed to the user. Expected proper process Same as above. Same as above. UNNotificationServiceExtension Not Displaying Sender Image
I created a Notification Service Extension to display profile images in place for the app image (i.e. iMessage). I send a remote push notification via Firebase Functions, and in the payload, the relevant profile image url string. The profile image url string in the payload is successfully delivered as it appears in my console log and AppDelegate didReceiveRemoteNotification function. My problem is the profile image does not replace the default app icon image in the remote push notification. Below is my configuration. Any guidance would be appreciated! AWS SNS False Success Delivery
We operate a social network application, SportsYou with over 3 million monthly active users and are experiencing significant issues with push notification delivery through APNs. We have a large number of users reporting they are not receiving push notifications. Our infrastructure uses AWS SNS integrated with APNs to deliver notifications. However, AWS CloudWatch consistently reports successful delivery (Success response), even though users confirm they never received the notifications. Because we receive success responses from AWS SNS, our system does not attempt to recreate or refresh the device endpoints. This leaves us unable to detect or recover from these delivery failures automatically. This issue is widespread and inconsistent. It affects users across multiple variables including different iOS versions, different device models, and different versions of our application. We cannot identify a clear pattern that would help us isolate the root cause. With millions of active users, even a small percentage of delivery failures represents thousands of users experiencing a degraded service. This is significantly impacting user engagement and satisfaction. We need guidance on how to properly diagnose this issue and ensure reliable notification delivery to our users. Specifically, we'd like to understand why we're receiving success responses when notifications aren't being delivered, and what steps we can take to detect and prevent these failures.

Provisioning Profile Missing com.apple.developer.push-notifications Entitlement Despite Correct Setup
Hi all, I’m running into an issue with provisioning profiles not including the com.apple.developer.push-notifications entitlement — even though everything seems to be configured correctly. Here's what I’ve done: Checked the App ID has Push Notifications enabled. I’ve clicked “Configure” and created a Production APNs certificate under the App ID. I’ve regenerated the provisioning profiles (Ad Hoc and App Store). I can see within the profiles within App Store Connect that the push notifications capability is listed I’ve downloaded and decoded the profiles using: security cms -D -i profile.mobileprovision &gt; decoded.plist But com.apple.developer.push-notifications is still missing under the &lt;key&gt;Entitlements&lt;/key&gt; block. This is causing issues because: When I submit the build to eas I receive this error from XCode: - Provisioning profile "*** Adhoc" doesn't include the com.apple.developer.push-notifications entitlement. Profile qualification is using entitlement definitions that may be out of date. Connect to network to update. (in target '***' from project '***') Refer to "Xcode Logs" below for additional, more detailed logs. To isolate the issue further I: Created a completely new App ID, enabling Push Notifications from the start. Created new APNs certificate. Generated new provisioning profiles with a valid distribution certificate. Still no push entitlement embedded in the profile. Question: Has anyone else encountered this issue where Push Notifications are enabled and configured, but the entitlement still fails to embed in the profile? Thanks in advance.

Can iOS automatically launch an app or show a screen upon receiving a push notification (including critical alerts)?
Hi all, May I please ask for an official clarification or documentation reference from Apple regarding this scenario: Is it possible for an iOS app to automatically launch or open a specific screen when a push notification is received — while the app is in the background or terminated (killed) state? I understand that for most cases, user interaction (such as tapping the notification) is required before the app can show UI. However, I’d like to confirm whether this is also true for time-sensitive or critical alert notifications, including emergency use cases (e.g. public safety alerts). Specifically: Can a critical alert notification directly launch the app or present a view controller? Or is user interaction always required before the app can present any UI, even with the critical alert entitlement? I would appreciate if anyone — especially Apple staff or engineers — could share an official Apple document or statement that confirms this behavior. Thank you very much! (Use case context: I’m developing an emergency broadcast feature for a property management / tenant app.)

Weather Notifications
I'm strugling about the way how to code notifications for my weather aplication. I use data from my server that receives weather changing values from my own weather station and want to notify user of my app when eg strong wind will blow or temperature go under eg 3℃ etc. The weather station has 8 sensors so there is sometimes a lot of data changing in particular minute that i set to parse data from server and notify user about it. But the notifications only works only when app is on and couple minutes after locking display. So please what could i use strategy for the app to works even when the app sleeps ?

The issue I'm facing is related to the delegate class method, which is invoked after the user presses the notification. Current state causes crash after pressing notification. Getting null data from App Store Server Notification
Hello Apple Support Team, We are using auto-renew plans in our app We have set the webhook URL in our App Store Connect account to get the Store server notification to get the auto renew data for an user The issue is when a user purchases any auto-renew plan at the auto-renew time, we are getting null data from the Apple side. We have printed the log's data to check what data are coming from the Apple webhook. we have attached our logs data please check it and let me know what can we do to resolve this

I trying to validate the certificate I created for APNS using the following command but I get an error. openssl s_client -connect gateway.push.apple.com:2195 -cert temp.pem -debug -showcerts Error: getaddrinfo: nodename nor servname provided, or not known connect:errno=0 Any help will be greatly appreciated.

According to the Apple notification alert received in October 2024, the APNS server certificate update for production is scheduled for February 24, 2025. Has this change been implemented, or is there a platform or method to verify whether this update has been applied in production? If so, where can we check this?"

After uninstalling the app, ManagedSettingsStore.shield is still active — seems to be an Apple system behavior
I’m using the shielding API, my code: let store = ManagedSettingsStore() let whitelist = SharedDefaults.whitelistApplications store.shield.applicationCategories = .all(except: whitelist) And to clear the shield, my code is: store.shield.applications = nil store.shield.applicationCategories = nil The issue: Some users report that after uninstalling my app, the shield is still active, and the UI changes to the default iOS system interface. Even after restarting the device, the apps on the phone remains locked, so the user has no way to remove the shield. Recently I’ve received several complaints on social media and App Store comments, accusing my app of being malicious software. This is not a 100% reproducible bug, but it happens frequently enough. I was also able to reproduce it myself by uninstalling the app during an active lock session. Could Apple engineers please look into this issue and advise how to ensure that once the user uninstalls the app, the device is no longer locked?
