.navigationTitle disappears when using .toolbar and List inside NavigationStack (iOS 26 beta)
.navigationTitle disappears when using .toolbar and List inside NavigationStack (iOS 26 beta) Summary In iOS 26 beta, using .navigationTitle() inside a NavigationStack fails to render the title when combined with a .toolbar and a List. The title initially appears as expected after launch, but disappears after a second state transition triggered by a button press. This regression does not occur in iOS 18. Steps to Reproduce Use the SwiftUI code sample below (see viewmodel and Reload button for state transitions). Run the app on an iOS 26 simulator (e.g., iPhone 16). On launch, the view starts in .loading state (shows a ProgressView). After 1 second, it transitions to .loaded and displays the title correctly. Tap the Reload button — this sets the state back to .loading, then switches it to .loaded again after 1 second. ❌ After this second transition to .loaded, the navigation title disappears and does not return. Actual Behavior The navigation title displays correctly after the initial launch transition from .loading → .loaded. However, after tapping the “Reload” button and transitioning .loading → .loaded a second time, the title no longer appears. This suggests a SwiftUI rendering/layout invalidation issue during state-driven view diffing involving .toolbar and List. Expected Behavior The navigation title “Loaded Data” should appear and remain visible every time the view is in .loaded state. ✅ GitHub Gist including Screen Recording 👉 View Gist with full details Sample Code import SwiftUI struct ContentView: View { private let vm = viewmodel() var body: some View { NavigationStack { VStack { switch vm.state { case .loading: ProgressView("Loading...") case .loaded: List { ItemList() } Button("Reload") { vm.state = .loading DispatchQueue.main.asyncAfter(deadline: .now() + 1) { vm.state = .loaded } } .navigationTitle("Loaded Data") } } .toolbar { ToolbarItem(placement: .navigationBarTrailing) { Menu { Text("hello") } label: { Image(systemName: "gearshape.fill") } } } } } } struct ItemList: View { var body: some View { Text("Item 1") Text("Item 2") Text("Item 3") } } @MainActor @Observable class viewmodel { enum State { case loading case loaded } var state: State = .loading init() { DispatchQueue.main.asyncAfter(deadline: .now() + 1) { self.state = .loaded } } }

SpeechAnalyzer speech to text wwdc sample app
I am using the sample app from: https://developer.apple.com/videos/play/wwdc2025/277/?time=763 I installed this on an Iphone 15 Pro with iOS 26 beta 1. I was able to get good transcription with it. The app did crash sometimes when transcribing and I was going to post here with the details. I then installed iOS beta 2 and uninstalled the sample app. Now every time I try to run the sample app on the 15 Pro I get this message: SpeechAnalyzer: Input loop ending with error: Error Domain=SFSpeechErrorDomain Code=10 "Cannot use modules with unallocated locales [en_US (fixed en_US)]" UserInfo={NSLocalizedDescription=Cannot use modules with unallocated locales [en_US (fixed en_US)]} I can't continue our our work towards using SpeechAnalyzer now with this error. I have set breakpoints on all the catch handlers and it doesn't catch this error. My phone region is "United States"

Getting a basic URL Filter to work
I haven’t been able to get this to work at any level! I’m running into multiple issues, any light shed on any of these would be nice: I can’t implement a bloom filter that produces the same output as can be found in the SimpleURLFilter sample project, after following the textual description of it that’s available in the documentation. No clue what my implementation is doing wrong, and because of the nature of hashing, there is no way to know. Specifically: The web is full of implementations of FNV-1a and MurmurHash3, and they all produce different hashes for the same input. Can we get the proper hashes for some sample strings, so we know which is the “correct” one? Similarly, different implementations use different encodings for the strings to hash. Which should we use here? The formulas for numberOfBits and numberOfHashes give Doubles and assign them to Ints. It seems we should do this conversing by rounding them, is this correct? Can we get a sample correct value for the combined hash, so we can verify our implementations against it? Or ignoring all of the above, can we have the actual code instead of a textual description of it? 😓 I managed to get Settings to register my first attempt at this extension in beta 1. Now, in beta 2, any other project (including the sample code) will redirect to Settings, show the Allow/Deny message box, I tap Allow, and then nothing happens. This must be a bug, right? Whenever I try to enable the only extension that Settings accepted (by setting its isEnabled to true), its status goes to .stopped and the error is, of course, .unknown. How do I debug this? While the extension is .stopped, ALL URL LOADS are blocked on the device. Is this to be expected? (shouldFailClosed is set to false) Is there any way to manually reload the bloom filter? My app ships blocklist updates with background push, so it would be wasteful to fetch the filter at a fixed interval. If so, can we opt out of the periodic fetch altogether? I initially believed the API to be near useless because I didn’t know of its “fuzzy matching” capabilities, which I’ve discovered by accident in a forum post. It’d be nice if those were documented somewhere! Thanks!!

iOS 26 regression: `DeviceActivityEvent`: `eventDidReachThreshold` called immediately (instead of waiting till threshold is reached)
Hello! I am experiencing some strange bugs around DeviceActivityEvents: When creating a DeviceActivityEvent we can assign a threshold and applicationTokens. The idea is, that after the user has spent said threshold on said apps, eventDidReachThreshold is called. includesPastActivity is set to false. On iOS 26 however, it happens (quite reliably after updating to a new beta seed) quite often that eventDidReachThreshold is called immediately (after a couple of seconds) instead of waiting for the threshold to be met. Is anyone else seeing similar issues on iOS 26? Only workaround I have found is to ask users to re-grant Screen Time permissions. This only holds for about two weeks though or at most until the next iOS 26 beta update is installed. Feedback filed under: FB18061981 FB18927456

Core Spotlight Semantic Search - still non-functional for 1+ year after WWDC24?
After more than a year since the announcement, I'm still unable to get this feature working properly and wondering if there are known issues or missing implementation details. Current Setup: Device: iPhone 16 Pro Max iOS: 26 beta 3 Development: Tested on both Xcode 16 and Xcode 26 Implementation: Following the official documentation examples The Problem: Semantic search simply doesn't work. Lexical search functions normally, but enabling semantic search produces identical results to having it disabled. It's as if the feature isn't actually processing. Error Output (Xcode 26): [QPNLU][qid=5] Error Domain=com.apple.SpotlightEmbedding.EmbeddingModelError Code=-8007 "Text embedding generation timeout (timeout=100ms)" [CSUserQuery][qid=5] got a nil / empty embedding data dictionary [CSUserQuery][qid=5] semanticQuery failed to generate, using "(false)" In Xcode 16, there are no error messages at all - the semantic search just silently fails. Missing Resources: The sample application mentioned during the WWDC24 presentation doesn't appear to have been released, which makes it difficult to verify if my implementation is correct. Would really appreciate any guidance or clarification on the current status of this feature. Has anyone in the community successfully implemented this?

CloudKit: Records not indexing
Since publishing new record types to my CloudKit schema in production, a previously unchanged record type has stopped indexing new records. While records of this type are successfully saved without errors, they are not returned in query results—they can only be accessed directly via their recordName. This issue occurs exclusively in the Production environment, both in the CloudKit Console and our iOS app. The problem began on July 21, 2025, and continues to persist. The issue affects only new records of this specific record type; all other types are indexing and querying as expected. The affected record's fields are properly configured with the appropriate index types (e.g., QUERYABLE) and have been not been modified prior to publishing the schema. With this, are there any steps I should take to restore indexing functionality for this record type in Production? There have been new records inserted, and I would prefer to not have to reset the production database, if possible.

Icon Composer: Any way to add icons to the app bundle for older macOS versions?
Several app developers are struggling with the inability to provide a separate app icons that looks nice on older macOS versions while at the same time provide Icon Composer icons that look great on macOS Tahoe 26. An ability to provide separate icons is super important to those who have app icons that follow the curvature of the default icon borders (as the corner rounding radius is different for Sequia and Tahoe). Take a look at this for example: https://github.com/ghostty-org/ghostty/issues/7564#issuecomment-3042061547 Question: Is there a definitive/recommended way to address this issue? How can a developer add a glass icon variant that looks good on Tahoe and provide a bitmap icon for older macOS versions? Some background info: Prior to Xcode 26 beta 4, one could add an App Icon to Assets to be used as app icon for legacy macOS versions (Sequia and older) and use a new Icon Composer icon (placed in the project root) for macOS Tahoe 26. Enabling "Include all app icon assets" under target settings ensured that older macOS versions would use the old app icons while Tahoe the new Icon Composer glass one. Since Xcode beta 4 this technique no longer works. Xcode instead insists on populating Assets.car with Icon Composer generated variants, disregarding the App Icon provided in Assets. Although the App Icon in Assets makes its way to a .incs file in the app bundle's Contents/Resources folder, but that is not used by macOS anymore and is there for some compatibility purposes. The Assets.car file (which matters) only contains the variants generated by Icon Composer and does not contain the png icons provided in the Assets.

Unexpected Removal of Apple Watch Apps When Using allowListedAppBundleIDs in iOS Configuration Profile
Summary: When applying a configuration profile that uses allowListedAppBundleIDs to permit a defined set of apps, essential Apple Watch apps are unexpectedly removed from the paired Watch — even though their associated iPhone bundle IDs are explicitly included. This issue occurs with a minimal profile, and has been consistently reproducible on the latest versions of iOS and watchOS. Impact: This behavior severely limits the use of Apple Watch in managed environments (e.g., education, family management, accessibility contexts), where allowlisting is a key control mechanism. It also suggests either: Undocumented internal dependencies between iOS and watchOS apps, or A possible regression in how allowlists interact with Watch integration. Steps to Reproduce: Create a configuration profile with a Restrictions payload containing only the allowListedAppBundleIDs key. Allow a broad list of essential system apps, including all known Apple Watch-related bundle IDs: com.apple.NanoAlarm com.apple.NanoNowPlaying com.apple.NanoOxygenSaturation com.apple.NanoRegistry com.apple.NanoRemote com.apple.NanoSleep com.apple.NanoStopwatch com.apple.NanoWorldClock (All the bundles can be seen in the Attached profile) Install the profile on a supervised or non-supervised iPhone paired with an Apple Watch. Restart both devices. Observe that several core Watch apps (e.g. Heart Rate, Activity, Workout) are missing from the Watch. Expected Behavior: All apps explicitly included in the allowlist should function normally. System apps — especially those tied to hardware like Apple Watch — should remain accessible unless explicitly excluded. Actual Behavior: Multiple Apple Watch system apps are removed or hidden, despite their iPhone bundle IDs being listed in the allowlist. Test Environment: iPhone running iOS 18 Apple Watch running watchOS 11 Profile includes only the allowListedAppBundleIDs key Issue confirmed on fresh devices with no third-party apps Request for Apple Engineering: Please confirm whether additional internal or undocumented bundle IDs are required to preserve Apple Watch functionality when allowlisting apps. If this behavior is unintended, please treat this as a regression or bug affecting key system components. If intentional, please provide formal documentation listing all required bundle IDs for preserving Watch support with allowlisting enabled. Attachment: .mobileconfig profile demonstrating the issue (clean, minimal, reproducible) Attached test profile = https://drive.google.com/file/d/12YknGWuo1bDG-bmzPi0T41H6uHrhDmdR/view?usp=sharing

[iOS 26] iOS App Does Not Receive Deep Link from Widget When Using widgetAccentedRenderingMode on Image
Summary When a SwiftUI widget uses a Link containing an Image modified with .widgetAccentedRenderingMode (using any mode except .fullColor), tapping the image on the widget launches the app but does not pass the expected deep link URL to the SceneDelegate. Steps to Reproduce Create a SwiftUI Widget View with a Link: struct ImageView: View { var image: UIImage var body: some View { Link(URL(string: "myapp://image")!) { Image(uiImage: image) .resizable() .widgetAccentedRenderingMode(.accentedDesaturated) // or any mode other than .fullColor .scaledToFill() .clipped() } } } Add Custom URL Scheme in Info.plist: <dict> <key>CFBundleURLName</key> <string>com.company.myapp</string> <key>CFBundleURLSchemes</key> <array> <string>myapp</string> </array> </dict> Implement Deep Link Handling in SceneDelegate: func scene(_ scene: UIScene, willConnectTo session: UISceneSession, options connectionOptions: UIScene.ConnectionOptions) { if let url = connectionOptions.urlContexts.first?.url { handle(url) } } func scene(_ scene: UIScene, openURLContexts urlContexts: Set<UIOpenURLContext>) { if let url = urlContexts.first?.url { handle(url) } } private func handle(_ url: URL) { // Process URL here } Run the application on a device or simulator. Add the widget to the Home Screen. Tap the image inside the widget. Expected Result The application launches and receives the URL in SceneDelegate, as expected. Actual Result The application launches, but the URL is not passed to SceneDelegate. Both connectionOptions.urlContexts and openURLContexts are empty.

BLE LE Privacy Issue with iPad A16 (11th Gen?) – Peripheral Not Responding After MTU Exchange
Hi all, I'm encountering a BLE issue with the newer iPad models featuring the A16 Bionic chip (e.g., iPad 11th Gen). I have an iOS application that runs as a BLE peripheral, and it used to work flawlessly with various central devices. 📱 Device Specs Model: iPad (A16 Bionic) OS: iPadOS 18.6 ✅ Working Setup (Before): iOS app acts as a BLE peripheral (advertises a custom service). Central device (Windows/Linux/Android) could: Discover advertisements Connect to the peripheral Exchange MTU Discover GATT services Communicate bidirectionally ❌ Issue with iPad A16 (Newer Devices): Central device receives advertisements and connects. MTU exchange request is sent by central, but iPad A16 does not respond. The BLE link remains active but only transmits empty PDUs, and communication never proceeds. Same issue observed with third-party apps like BLE HID keyboard — they also fail to connect or communicate on A16 iPads but work on older devices (e.g., iPad 10th Gen and below). 🔍 Debugging So Far: Confirmed that MTU Exchange Request is compliant (Client Rx MTU = 527). Works fine with iPad 10th Gen and earlier. Works with Android, Windows, and even Linux central stacks with older iPads. A16-based iPads seem to silently drop or ignore the MTU request. 🧪 Suspected Cause: Possible regression or behavioral change in LE Privacy handling on newer iPads. Possibly tied to iPadOS version or Bluetooth controller firmware. 🙏 Looking for: Anyone else facing similar BLE issues on iPads with A16? Any known changes to BLE LE Privacy, MTU negotiation, or connection behavior in iPadOS on A16 devices? Any workarounds, entitlements, or configuration changes that fixed the issue? Would appreciate any insights or suggestions. Thank you!

[iOS18]The transition animation stops and cannot be interacted with
The app becomes unresponsive when pushing a new page. The screen is covered by the _UIParallaxOverlayView class, blocking all gestures. Are there any scenarios where the transition animation might suddenly stop mid-process? Or could you provide more information to help me troubleshoot this issue? I noticed: When the issue occurs, the FromViewController is displayed on the screen. The ToViewController also exists in the view tree, but it's not visible on the screen. _UIParallaxOverlayView only appears on iOS 18 and above. The animation appears to be controlled by +[UIView _fluidParallaxTransitionsEnabledWithTraitCollection:], which is _os_feature_enabled_impl("UIKit", "fluid_parallax_transitions"). Reference

macOS 26: NSTokenField crashes due to NSGenericException caused by too many Update Constraints
This example application crashes when entering any text to the token field with FAULT: NSGenericException: The window has been marked as needing another Update Constraints in Window pass, but it has already had more Update Constraints in Window passes than there are views in the window. The app uses controlTextDidChange to update a live preview where it accesses the objectValue of the token field. If one character is entered, it also looks like the NSTokenFieldDelegate methods tokenField(_:styleForRepresentedObject:) tokenField(_:editingStringForRepresentedObject:) tokenField(_:representedObjectForEditing:) are called more than 10000 times until the example app crashes on macOS Tahoe 26 beta 6. I've reported this issue with beta 1 as FB18088608, but haven't heard back so far. I have multiple occurrences of this issue in my app, which is working fine on previous versions of macOS. I haven't found a workaround yet, and I’m getting anxious of this issue persisting into the official release.

Questions for AlarmKit
We are so interested in AlarmKit which is presented at WWDC25. While we planning our app using AlarmKit, We had a few questions come to mind and were hoping you could provide some clarity. Please excuse the rather long list of questions, as we don't currently have a device available to test these features ourselves. System Actions Related Is there a limit to the number of alarms that can be scheduled using AlarmKit? Are alarms scheduled with AlarmKit persistent across device reboots? When an alarm is dismissed (either by swiping or pressing the power button), can our app detect this action and execute code in response? Can we control the behavior of the physical Lock Screen buttons when an AlarmKit alarm is active, for instance, to trigger a snooze action? Does AlarmKit function correctly during Do Not Disturb or Low Power Mode? What is the expected behavior when an alarm from our app (using AlarmKit) overlaps with an alarm from another app that also uses AlarmKit? Which one is going to get its priority? Thank you for your help. Sincerely

Keyboard Toolbar Padding iOS26
When I create a SwiftUI toolbar item with placement of .keyboard on iOS 26, the item appears directly on top of and in contact with the keyboard. This does not look good visually nor does it match the behavior seen in Apple's apps, such as Reminders. Adding padding to the contents of the toolbar item only expands the size of the item but does not separate the capsule background of the item from the keyboard. How can I add vertical padding or spacing to separate the toolbar item capsule from the keyboard?

Layer to SVG script
In the video ”Create Icons with Icon Composer”, the presenter mentions that Apple has created a layer-to-SVG script for Illustrator that‘s available for download: Once the artwork is in a good place, next we want to export the layers as SVGs. For every tool, this can look a bit different. For those using Illustrator, we've created a layer to SVG script that will automate this for you, which you can download. Exporting out the canvas size ensures everything drops right into position in Icon Composer. Here‘s the link to the mention: https://developer.apple.com/videos/play/wwdc2025/361/?time=377 I can’t find any place to get this script, and my designer is very interested in using it to import our Illustrator icon into Icon Composer. Can someone point me to it?

Disabling font Anti-Aliasing in a Text in SwiftUI
Hi, I'm using one ttf font that simulate a bitmap look in my app. However, macOS renders all font with anti-aliasing. On those kind of font, that introduce some artefacts. Is there a way to disable anti-aliasing or some tricks that would make like there were no anti-aliasing? Thanks.

SceneKit is now deprecated - when it will be removed?
Now that SceneKit has been marked as soft deprecated, is there a planned date or timeframe when it will be completely removed from iOS? I’m concerned about how long my existing SceneKit-based game will continue to work, especially as an indie developer without the resources for a quick rewrite to RealityKit.
