Best practice for replacing deprecated sem_init/sem_wait in a cross-platform threading layer on macOS (arm64)
Hi all, I'm working on a cross-platform runtime that manages a pool of threads (think game engine / emulator style... dozens of guest threads mapped 1:1 to host pthreads). It was originally written for Linux and Windows and we're now porting to macOS on Apple Silicon. We've hit a wall with a deadlock on macOS and traced it back to our use of POSIX unnamed semaphores (sem_init / sem_wait / sem_post) for thread suspend and resume. We were unaware these have never actually been implemented on macOS, sem_init silently returns -1 with ENOSYS and then sem_wait just hangs forever. That explains our deadlock. The tricky part is how we use them. Our suspend mechanism works by sending SIGUSR1 to a target thread via pthread_kill. The signal handler then calls sem_wait to block the thread in place until another thread calls sem_post to resume it. So whatever we replace sem_init/sem_wait with needs to be safe to call from inside a signal handler. From what I can tell: dispatch_semaphore_wait is not documented as async-signal-safe pthread_cond_wait is also not async-signal-safe os_sync_wait_on_address looks promising but requires macOS 14.4+ which is a pretty high floor We could spin on a std::atomic with .wait() / .notify_all() but I've seen reports of high wake latency (up to 15ms) in libc++'s implementation on macOS My questions: What's the recommended way to block a thread inside a signal handler on macOS? Is there an async-signal-safe wait primitive I'm missing? Would restructuring to avoid blocking in the signal handler entirely be the better approach? For example, having the signal handler just set an atomic flag and then checking it at yield points — would that be the expected pattern on macOS? For the non-signal-handler suspend/resume paths, is dispatch_semaphore_t the right replacement for sem_t, or is there something better suited for high-frequency thread synchronization in 2026? Separately, we're also using ucontext (makecontext/swapcontext) for a fiber system on macOS and hitting issues on native arm64, it works under Rosetta but breaks natively. We have a setjmp/longjmp + manual stack pivot backend we can switch to. Is there any plan to fix or un-deprecate the ucontext functions on arm64, or should we just move off them permanently?

StoreKit Subscription not discoverable in App Review (PLEASE HELP!))
I'm in the final phase before app approval and I'm struggling to implement store kit for in app purchases. I'm using base 44 and really need help finishing this set up. I have an iOS app (SwiftUI + WKWebView) with auto-renewable subscriptions using StoreKit and SubscriptionStoreView. The app was rejected under Guideline 3.1 because payments were defaulting to Stripe instead of storekit. What’s already done: Subscriptions created in App Store Connect (monthly + annual) SubscriptionStoreView implemented and visible in app WKWebView bridge triggers native StoreKit paywall Sandbox test account created Stripe fully disabled on iOS What I need: Verify StoreKit implementation is App Review compliant Confirm subscriptions are correctly attached to the app version Ensure paywall is discoverable by App Review Help me pass App Review (reply guidance + final checks) This is a short engagement (1–3 hours). Looking for someone with real StoreKit + App Review experience + Base44 knowledge.

WatchOS IAP -- why is this such a mess?
Need to vent a bit before relaxing for Christmas... WatchOS IAP using Storekit 2 is such a mess...is nobody actually using this or does Apple just not care for the user experience here? Lots of users experience after the purchase confirmation double tap on the side button an instant return to the purchase screen with nothing actually happening. No error message whatsoever. There is just one remedy: users need to unpair and re-pair their watch, including restoring a backup and setting up their wallet again. Nobody really wants to do this, or doesn't believe me and think this is just typical support BS, because their watch is paired and most things just work as they expect. And it turns away a customer, often leaving a bad review. And I can't do anything about it. Other errors in the purchase process are reported, but like "process interrupted" in case the payment is not setup correctly (credit car no longer valid or sth.). How should the user know? There must be better ways of letting him know what exactly the problem is. You need to implement a "Restore Purchase" function, otherwise you're not passing the review. But it really asks every time for the AppStore password, and users with crazy passwords -- that they rightfully should have! -- have almost no chance of typing them successfully on the tiny AW keyboard. Why is it not also just a side button double tap like for purchase? At the very least you would need access to the keychain PWs or allow pasting of sth. copied on the paired iPhone. Promo Codes for IAP on AW-only apps just don't work. AW has no redemption at all, and on the iPhone the AppStore will try to talk to a companion app (which AW-only doesn't have) and the end up in a dead-end installation effort. This all feels like never really tested in the field, and people are of course blaming the 3rd party dev. for all these issues. And opening a ticket is just leading nowhere -- at best it's closed after months with the hint "duplicate" but w/o any chance for me to see that one that they then actually work on and track progress. It's all so frustratingly broken...

Wrong value for storekit custom purchase link allowed regions entitlement
Greetings fellow devs, After accepting the Alternative Terms Addendum for Apps in the EU and adding the Storekit External Purchases or Offers capability via App Store Connect in our app identifier, the entitlement showing up in xcode is com.apple.developer.storekit.custom-purchase-link.allowed-regions and has the value 'jp'. How can we change the value for that entitlement to 'gr'? We tried changing it in xcode, but we get the error <Provisioning profile "iOS Team Provisioning Profile: [app identifier]" doesn't match the entitlements file's value for the com.apple.developer.storekit.custom-purchase-link.allowed-regions entitlement.>. In Certificates, Identifiers and Profiles in the developer account there is no way to configure that capability. We sent a request to support and they only gave a link to documentation and to the forum here. We have a completed every business agreement requested and we have chosen Greece as the organisation region and the app's availability region wherever possible. We haven't found anywhere that Japan would be chosen to explain the entitlement given. So where can this entitlement about allowed regions be configured? Xcode version is 16.4 and iOS minimum deployments is 18

CarPlay Simulator (from Additional tools) stuck on "Connecting to phone" since March 4th
We're experiencing an issue where the CarPlay Simulator (from Apple Developer Additional Tools) stopped connecting to our iPhones as of March 4th, 2025. The simulator gets stuck indefinitely on "Connecting to phone" and never completes the pairing. Environment App: Oracle Field Service iOS app (with CarPlay support) Tool: CarPlay Simulator from Apple Developer Additional Tools (developer.apple.com/download/all/) Issue start date: Wednesday, March 4th, 2025 Tested on: Multiple Mac machines, multiple iPhones Multiple CarPlay Simulator versions tested What's happening The CarPlay Simulator launches but displays "Connecting to phone" indefinitely. It was working correctly prior to March 4th with no changes on our end. What still works CarPlay functions correctly when the same iPhone is connected to a real car, confirming the issue is specific to the simulator. Troubleshooting steps already attempted Reset permissions and re-added the simulator Forgot the simulator and re-paired it Changed the USB cable Tested on multiple Mac machines Tested on multiple iPhones Tried multiple versions of the CarPlay Simulator Confirmed no VPN is in use Confirmed with IT, no OS updates or enterprise restrictions were applied Questions Has anyone else experienced this since March 4th? Was there a change in CarPlay Simulator behavior or a requirement on the Apple side (certificate, entitlement, protocol) around that date? Is there a known workaround or fix?

Technical scope of Default Dialer App in EU: Access to Cellular Audio Stream for AI Services
Hello, I am researching the technical feasibility of developing a Default Dialer App for the EU market using the specific entitlements granted under the Digital Markets Act (DMA). Our primary goal is to implement a Cellular/VoLTE-based calling system—not mVoIP—and we need to clarify whether it is possible to provide features such as STT (Speech-to-Text) and Call Summarization, which require In-call Audio Recording. Regarding the Default Dialer App Entitlement in the EU, I would like to clarify the following: Access to Raw Audio Stream: When an app is granted the Default Dialer status in the EU, does it gain programmatic access to the downlink and uplink audio streams of a cellular/VoLTE call for recording purposes? LiveCommunicationKit & Recording APIs: Does LiveCommunicationKit (or any related framework for iOS 26) provide specific APIs for a third-party dialer to capture native telephony audio? Entitlement Scope for Partners: If an EU-based partner obtains the necessary entitlements, can those entitlements be used to grant our application the authority to process cellular calls and access the associated audio data? Recommended Implementation: Are there any Apple-sanctioned methods or specific frameworks for implementing call recording for AI-driven services within the scope of the new EU-specific regulations? We need to confirm these technical boundaries to establish the implementation scope with our EU partners. Any guidance on whether a third-party app can technically and legally record cellular calls under these specific conditions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Access to Raw Audio Stream: When an app is granted the Default Dialer status in the EU, does it gain programmatic access to the downlink/uplink audio streams of a cellular call for recording purposes? LiveCommunicationKit & Recording: Does LiveCommunicationKit provide any specific APIs or delegates that allow a third-party dialer to capture call audio, or is the recording still restricted by the system’s sandbox? Entitlement Scope: If our EU partner obtains the necessary entitlements, can they authorize our application to handle the cellular call processing entirely, including the access to telephony audio data? AI Service Implementation: Are there any Apple-recommended ways to implement AI features (STT, Summarization) within a Default Dialer App without violating current iOS security architectures? We need to provide a clear "Feasibility Report" to our EU partners during upcoming meetings. Any technical guidance on whether a third-party app can legally and technically record cellular calls under this new EU-specific policy would be extremely helpful. Thank you.

"appAccountToken" mismatched in sandbox environment
We're seeing some strange behavior of the appAccountToken when passing it to a purchase in the sandbox environment. Normally we'd expect the same account token to be set on the resulting verfication, but that's not the case. Instead the token seems to be persisted on the API side and reused for some amount of time, meaning there's a mismatch and the connection between account and purchase is lost. This happens consistently even if we send new tokens on each purchase. Has there been any updates to purchase flow in the sandbox environment on Apple's side? .purchase( options: [.appAccountToken(token)] )

Cannot access my developer account because of 'Too many verification codes have been sent. Enter the last code you received or try again later.'
I have been trying to get into my account for several days now and I have tried everything. First of you cannot get support because you need to be logged in so had to make another account to be able to post this. And even then the support is not working. Send an email a while ago and tried the call option and I have gotten no response from both. I was supposed to launch my app last week and I have just not be able to log into my account. I keep getting the 'Too many verification codes have been sent. Enter the last code you received or try again later.' I didn't even do that, I just tried to log in and had that there. I have waited days and it's still there. I have tried changing the number for which I waited a day and now it's told me to wait another 6 days. This has caused so many problem and the lack of support is unbelievable. Can anyone please help me get into my account or advise on what I can do ASAP. Thanks, Usama

Bug: Channels erroneously populated when sending audio from an iPhone to a linux gadget audio device.
I have a device which is using linux gadget audio to receive audio input via USB, exposing 24 capture channels. This device works well with Mac, Windows, and Android phones. However, when sending audio from an iPhone (both USB-C iPhones and lightning iPhones using an official Apple lightning -> usb adaptor) I am seeing strange behaviour. Audio which is sent from the iPhone to any one of inputs 12, 19, 20, 21, or 22 appears in all of those channels, rather than only the channel to which audio is routed. I have confirmed on my linux device that these channels are not being erroneously populated by the software running on that device; the issue is visible in audio recorded directly from the gadget using arecord, meaning it is present in the audio being sent from the iPhone. I have confirmed that the gadget channel mask is correct for 24 channel audio (0xFFFFFF). As said above, audio routed to this device from any non-iPhone device (Mac, Windows, Android) works fine. The only sensible conclusion seems to be that the iPhone is populating the additional channels erroneously due to some bug in CoreAudio's handling of gadget audio devices. I would appreciate any insight on this from Apple developers, or from anyone else who has come across this issue and found a workaround.

Developer program enrollement issue
Greetings Folks, I have an issue enrolling into developer program, and im not sure if its in state of stale or i just need to wait longer? I started enrolling my private email instead of organization email as apple id, but then i stopped the process on private and continued on organization email. I have received an email on private mail to upload documents, where i responded that i have switched to company email ID. Short after i am receiving an email on new ID email to upload documents verifying its Me and company i registered. When clicking on that link and logging in to actually do that, it says Account is not authorized to upload. Now i wrote to customer support week ago regarding this issue, and there still haven't been any progress or responses. Hence my post here, looking for similar problems some of you might have had and how did you solve it? I am sorry in advanced if this isn't correct thread to post this topic. Cheers, Luka

Apple blocking my account
Apple has negged my developer account docs for 6 months. How do I get someone on the phone? I had moved the company’s jurisdictions from EU to USA so it is a new Apple Developer account. In truth, I would rather just update my original account to the new company in USA but I can’t do that either.

We’ve been waiting for several weeks for our account to be verified; we need to conduct testing for the app, which is already ready. We’ve submitted several support tickets but haven’t received any response. We haven’t received any calls or emails regarding the company verification process.

How long does it take to process the dev enrollment payment
I am already waiting for 7 days to process my payment for developer enrollment. Already called support but I am onhold on the line for 40minutes+ sometimes and noone pick ups the phone. Is there actually anyone working in Apple support? Who should I contact to either get my money back or make it work at last?
