The documentation: "Video materials support transparency if the source video’s file format also supports transparency."
I have a transparency video(Hand.mov, HEVC with alpha), I can show the video with transparency background correctly on Vision Pro Simulates, but on physic Device the video has a black background. I'm sure the video format is ok because I can see get the texture from video and display it on an UnlitMaterial.
How can I show the transparency video correctly with the RealityKit/VideoMaterial?

We're trying to switch from using main camera access on Arkit to screen-capture with passthrough however we're facing some issues and it seems a bit complicated to debug.
We have set up a broadcast Extension, set up some logs on the sample Handler but we get nothing in the console nor that the recording starts, we set up the picker as well and we can see our extension in the control center as one of the choices but clicking start, results in it stopping in less than one second after.
The only message that is rather contradictory we see in the console.app is the following
[INFO] -[RPRecordingManager getSystemBroadcastExtensionInfo:]_block_invoke:1333 Extension has passthrough license
and just right after
[INFO] -[RPRecordingManager getSystemBroadcastExtensionInfo:]_block_invoke:1336 Extension does not have passthrough license
My app is getting video from UVC device, and I wish to display it in an Immersive Space. But when I open Immersive Space, the UVC capture will just stop.AI said it's due to confliction in Camera pipeline. But I don't really understand, I don't need to use any on device camera, why it conflict with my UVC...
.glassEffect(.regular, in: .rect(cornerRadius: 24))
error; 'glassEffect(_:in:isEnabled:)' is unavailable in visionOS
This is not surprising since visionOS already has a native glass interface that formed a model for the other OS's, but this error will create additional overhead for developers creating multi-platform apps that include visionOS.
Hi I know it's possible to play equirectangular VR180 video either SBS or MV-HEVC. And for fisheye video, the only way I know is to convert it into an AIVU for playback.
Is there any way to directly play fisheye video using AVPlayer? Thanks a lot!
At the moment the map kit APls only support non-volumetric maps (i.e. in a window or in a volume, but on a 2D surface).
Is support for 3D volumetric maps in VisionOS in the works? And if so when can we expect it to be available?
I'm trying to run a PhotogrammetrySession based on photos taken in an AVCaptureSession and stored as .heic files.
When I load the files I'm always seeing the error "Sample 0 missing LiDAR point cloud!" showing up for each individual sample.
Debugging shows that sample.depthDataMap is populated, also the .heic contains depth data which can be extracted using e.g. heif-convert on my Mac.
Comparing the .heic I created to one of the ObjectCaptureSession which doesn't show the LiDAR warning, I noticed the only difference being the HEIC information here:
So my questions are:
Are these the missing information in my manual capture causing this warning?
Can I somehow add these information in an AVCaptureSession?
Do these information allow better photogrammetry results?
For the M2 Apple Vision Pro, there's "a general guideline, we recommend no more than 500 thousand triangles for an immersive scene, with 250 thousand for applications in the shared space." --https://developer.apple.com/videos/play/wwdc2024/10186/?time=147
Is there a revised recommendation for the M5 Apple Vision Pro?
Hi All,
We're a studio building an app and as part of a scene we have a 3D asset with a smoke particle emitter and a curved mesh that plays video. I notice that when the video alone is played or the particle effect alone is done then the scene works fine but the frame rate drops drastically when both are turned on.
How do I solve this because this is an important storytelling feature.
Hi,
since iOS 18 UnlitMaterial and ShaderGraphMaterial have the option to disable tone mapping, e.g via https://developer.apple.com/documentation/realitykit/unlitmaterial/init(applypostprocesstonemap:)
Is it possible to do the same for CustomMaterial? I tried initializing a CustomMaterial based on an UnlitMaterial where tone mapping is disabled, like so:
let unlitMat = UnlitMaterial(applyPostProcessToneMap: false)
let customMaterial = try CustomMaterial(
from: unlitMat,
surfaceShader: surfaceShader,
geometryModifier: geometryModifier
)
but that does not seem to work. The colors of my texture still look altered in comparison to a plain UnlitMaterial or a ShaderGraphMaterial where its disabled.
Any hints? Thank you!
If I trigger the apple rating modal in an Immersive space it appears on the ground in (0,0,0) I need it to be in front of the user like push notification perimssion does or other permissions requests.
In Vision OS app, I have two types of windows:
Main App Window – This is the default window that launches when the app starts. It displays the video listings and other primary content.
Immersive Space Window – This opens only when a user starts streaming or playing a video.
Issue:
When entering the immersive space, the main app window remains visible in front of it unless manually closed. To avoid this, I currently close the main window when transitioning to immersive space and reopen it when exiting from immersive space. However, this causes the app to restart instead of resuming from its previous state.
Desired Behavior:
I want the main app window to retain its state and seamlessly resume from where it was before entering immersive mode, rather than restarting.
Attempts & Challenges:
Tried managing opacity, visibility but none worked as expected.
Couldn’t find a way to push the main window to the background while bringing the immersive space to the foreground.
Looking for a solution to keep the main window’s state intact while transitioning between immersive and normal modes.
I'm seeing this error while attempting to compile my VisionOS app under Xcode 26. My existing code looks like:
let (naturalSize, formatDescriptions, mediaCharacteristics) = try? await videoTrack.load(.naturalSize, .formatDescriptions, .mediaCharacteristics)
This is now giving a compiler error: Type of expression is ambiguous without a type annotation
I don't see that anything that was changed or deprecated in the latest version. Also loading the properties individually seems to work fine i.e.:
let naturalSize = try? await videoTrack.load(.naturalSize)
let formatDescriptions = try? await videoTrack.load(.formatDescriptions)
let mediaCharacteristics = try? await videoTrack.load(.mediaCharacteristics)
I am trying to run widgets on visionOS 26. Specifically I am trying to pin them to the simulator room's walls, however I am unable to do so.
Is this a limitation with the visionOS simulator right now, or am I missing a trick here?

For visionOS 2.0+, it has been announced the object tracking feature. Is there any support for PolySpatial in Unity or is it only available in Swift and Xcode?
Apple, please provide access to face tracking blend shapes on vision os, just like you do on iOS.
You have the best eye and face tracking implementation on the market, please let us use it. There is a sizable audience who will buy the headset just for it.
I personally know multiple people who are not buying the headset simply because you locked those features out.
No raw camera access is needed, just abstracted blendshapes values. You will make the headset so much more useful if you do this simple thing.
I want to display a model image in the windowGroup window. This image is not unique. To display the model image, how should I convert it into an image
As in the title: openImmersiveSpace works as expected. The ImmersiveSpace in the ID opens normally but the function never resolves a Result. Here is a workaround I used to make user it was on the UI thread and scenePhase was active:
`
@MainActor func openSpaceWithStateCheck() async {
if scenePhase == .active {
Task {
switch await openImmersiveSpace(id: "RoomCaptureInteraction") {
case .opened:
isCapturingImagery = true
break
case .error:
print("!! An error occurred when trying to open the immersive space captureRoomImagery")
case .userCancelled:
print("!! The user declined opening immersive space captureRoomImagery")
@unknown default:
print("!! unknown default result of opening space")
break
}
}
} else {
print("Scene not active, deferring immersive space opening")
}
}
I'm on visionOS 2.4 and SDK 2.2.
I have tried uninstalling the app and rebuilding. Tried simply opening an empty ImmersiveSpace.
The consistency of the ImmersiveSpace opening at least means I can work around it. Even dismissImmersiveSpace works normally and closes the immersive space. But a workaround seems hamfisted.
We got very excited when we saw support for the PSVR2 on WWDC!
Particularly interesting is WebXR to us, so we got the controllers to give it a try.
Unfortunately they only register as gamepads in the navigator but not as XRInputDevice's
We went through the experimental flags and didn't find something that is directly related. Is there a flag we missed? If not, when do you have PSVR2 support planned for WebXR?
