Developer Forums Post: PKG Signing Failure
productsign Command Appears to Succeed but Package has No Valid Signature Category: Security, macOS, Code Signing Question: productsign command, when signing a PKG created with productbuild, appears to succeed with a success message (Wrote signed product archive to ...) but spctl verification results in rejected, source=no usable signature, indicating that the signature was not actually applied. Details: Goal: To sign a distribution package created with productbuild using a Developer ID Installer certificate. Certificate Used: Developer ID Installer: [Company Name] ([Team ID]) This certificate was issued by Previous Sub-CA and is not the latest G2 Sub-CA recommended by Apple. We cannot create a new G2 Sub-CA certificate as we have reached the limit of 5. productsign Command: productsign --sign "Developer ID Installer: [Company Name] ([Team ID])" [input.pkg] [output.pkg] productsign Output: Wrote signed product archive to [output.pkg] (Appears as a success message). spctl Signature Verification: spctl -a -vv [output.pkg] Result: rejected, source=no usable signature Notarization Service Results (Behavioral difference between Macs): On Mac A, the submission status was Accepted. On Mac B, the status was Invalid, with the notarization log message being The binary is not signed.. Troubleshooting Steps Taken: We attempted to sign both component and distribution packages with productsign, and in both cases, the signature was not recognized by the system. We skipped productsign and relied on the notarization service's auto-signing, but the notarization log still reported The binary is not signed., and the notarization failed. We have confirmed that the certificate and private key are properly associated in Keychain Access. My Questions: Given that we are using an older Previous Sub-CA certificate and cannot create a new one, why does productsign appear to succeed when the signature is not being applied? What could cause the behavioral difference where notarization is Accepted on Mac A but Invalid on Mac B? Is this a known issue with Apple's tools, or is it possibly caused by the specific structure of our PKG? What is the recommended workflow or debugging method to successfully sign and notarize a PKG under these circumstances? Thank you for your assistance

Notarization Stuck for Signed .pkg Containing Screen Saver
Hey all, I’m experiencing a consistent issue with notarizing a signed .pkg file that contains a macOS screen saver (.saver) bundle. Nothing online so far except 1 thread on the form from the altool time pre-2023 so i thought it worth another update. Here is what I did: I signed the .saver bundle using my Developer ID Application certificate. I packaged it into a .pkg using pkgbuild with my Developer ID Installer certificate: I submitted the resulting .pkg via xcrun notarytool: xcrun notarytool submit saver-name.pkg --apple-id email@email.com --password [app-specific-password] --team-id xxxxxxxxx The submission appears to be accepted and uploads successfully. However, the notarization status remains stuck at “In Progress” for hours (over 12h), with no update. I also tried: Repackaging the .pkg with a new name using a zip Resubmitting it under a new submission ID All attempts are stuck in the same “In Progress” state indefinitely. Did anyone solve this yet?

Notarization Fails: “The binary is not signed with a valid Developer ID certificate” for Flutter macOS App Plugins (file_picker, file_saver, url_launcher_macos)
Hi all, I’m trying to notarize a Flutter macOS app built in CI (GitHub Actions). The app builds and signs fine locally—codesign --verify --deep --strict and spctl --assess both pass. However, Apple’s notarization service consistently rejects the app with errors like: The binary is not signed with a valid Developer ID certificate: file_picker.framework The binary is not signed with a valid Developer ID certificate: file_saver.framework The binary is not signed with a valid Developer ID certificate: url_launcher_macos.framework What I’ve tried: Explicitly re-signing all frameworks with my Developer ID Application certificate and --timestamp Removing existing signatures before re-signing Ensuring correct entitlements and bundle identifier Matching the app bundle name and identifier in all places Using both codesign --deep and manual signing of each binary Local validation always passes, but notarization fails in CI Certificate: I am using a “Developer ID Application” certificate (not a “Mac Developer” or “Apple Development” certificate). The output of codesign -dvv for the problematic frameworks shows: Authority=Developer ID Application: [My Name/Team] ([Team ID]) So I believe I am not making the common mistake of using the wrong certificate type. CI Environment: GitHub Actions, macos-latest runner Flutter 3.27.2, stable channel All secrets (cert, Apple ID, app-specific password, team ID) are set up Questions: Has anyone encountered this with Flutter plugins or CI builds? Are there known issues with signing Flutter plugin frameworks for notarization? Is there a way to get more detailed feedback from Apple’s notarization service? Any advice or pointers would be greatly appreciated. I’m happy to provide logs, scripts, or a minimal project if needed. Thanks!

VoIP Entitlement
Good afternoon, Our team is currently developing a mobile application that includes video call functionality, and we are seeking the optimal approach to enable incoming calls on iOS devices. Ideally, we would like calls to be delivered even when the app is completely closed or after the device is restarted. As I understand it, this may require obtaining VoIP permissions; otherwise, calls may only work when the app is open or running in the background. I would appreciate it if you could confirm my understanding and advise me on the steps or requirements for obtaining the appropriate permissions. Currently, when I try to launch the app in XCode, I see an error (screenshot).

In-House distribution Certificate about to expire
Hi, My understanding from this information: " https://developer.apple.com/support/certificates/ iOS Distribution Certificate (in-house, internal-use apps) Users will no longer be able to run apps that have been signed with this certificate. You must distribute a new version of your app that is signed with a new certificate. " is that even if I re-sign the app with a new Provisioning Profile based on a new Distribution Certificate the apps will stop working. I need to re-build my apps with a new Distribution certificate+Provisioning profile, when distributing in-house, right? I can see that the apps continue to function when I re-sign them with a new Provisioning Profile, but according to the information above they will stop working the day (day after) the Distribution certificate they were built with expires. /Rikard

Failed to register bundle identifier: 403 error
I am a developer with the following roles: Apple Developer Team = admin Using expo & EAS to build & sign = developer We are running a new project so credentials need to be sync'd up. With EAS i can either upload a p12 or use the automatic app signing credentials. I have successfully run this in other projects including another where I am the account owner/holder. Keychain Data Recovery After App ID Prefix Update
We had an issue with IDrive Online Backup which has started discussing on the Developer forum at https://developer.apple.com/forums/thread/756904 and as suggested raised a technical support ticket Case-ID: 7747625. At last the old legacy bundle ID prefix changed to to the new Team ID prefix. As a result  one-time loss of keychain data occurs, however we requested and were granted an additional keychain capability that allowed access to keychain data stored under the old legacy prefix, even after transitioning to the new Team ID prefix. We are currently facing a similar challenge with our other application, IBackup. As with the earlier case, we had a mismatch between the App ID prefix and the Team ID, which we resolved by updating the prefix to match the Team ID. Again now encountered a blocker with Keychain data recovery. We have already requested the additional Keychain capability that would allow access to keychain data stored under the old legacy prefix, even after transitioning to the new Team ID prefix. Unfortunately, the team responsible for this has some uncertainty about the process. Please review the details under case 102398017929 and extend this capability to our application to ensure a seamless user experience.

StoreKit entitlement not included in provisioning profiles despite In-App Purchase enabled
I’m running into an issue where the com.apple.developer.storekit entitlement is not being included in provisioning profiles, even though my App ID is properly configured for In-App Purchase. Entitlements file: explicitly includes <key>com.apple.developer.storekit</key> <true/> Capability: In-App Purchase is enabled in the Apple Developer Portal and shows as “Enabled.” What I’ve tried: Automatic signing in Xcode → profiles generated, but missing com.apple.developer.storekit Manual signing → deleted and recreated provisioning profiles multiple times; entitlement still missing. Waited several hours for possible propagation. Verified that my in-app purchase products are set up correctly. Error message: Provisioning profile "iOS Team Provisioning Profile: zu.inniu" doesn't include the com.apple.developer.storekit entitlement Question: Has anyone else encountered this? Is there a step I might be missing to get StoreKit entitlements included in provisioning profiles, or could this be a backend issue that needs escalation through Apple DTS? This is blocking me from building my app for physical devices, so any guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

macOS Malware Warning Despite Successful Notarization Validation
Hello, I recently had my Electron app notarized by Apple and then performed the following steps: Stapling the Notarization Ticket: xcrun stapler staple "appPath/Aiparalegal.app" Zipping the App for Distribution: ditto -c -k --keepParent "appPath/Aiparalegal.app" theAIParalegal.zip However, after unzipping and attempting to launch the app, macOS displays the following message: Apple could not verify "theAIParalegal" is free of malware that may harm your Mac or compromise your privacy. Yet, when I run validation using: xcrun stapler validate "theAIParalegal.app" I receive confirmation: The validate action worked! spctl -a -vvv -t install "theAIParalegal.app" theAIParalegal.app: accepted source=Notarized Developer ID origin=Developer ID Application: NIPartnership LLC (M92N2796Q9) Could you help me understand why the notarization validation appears successful, yet macOS still displays this security warning? Any advice on how to resolve this would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

How to renew "Developer ID Application" certificate?
How do you renew a "Developer ID Application" certificate? Should there be a "renew" button on the expiration date? Or can you renew it sooner? Or are you required to create a new certificate? Does this count against your limit of five Developer ID Application certificates? I thought there was a way to renew it, but I don't see that option. I also couldn't find any Apple documentation about how to renew, only how to create and how there's a limit to how many you can create.

I can't distribute the build to Testflight
Hi the best community! When I try to submit the app to Testflight I receive the following error: "codesign command failed (/var/folders/j9/yh_rkh114rbgvmglf4gycj8w0000gn/T/XcodeDistPipeline.~~~OW0Dwk/Root/Payload/Application.app/Frameworks/Alamofire.framework: replacing existing signature /var/folders/j9/yh_rkh114rbgvmglf4gycj8w0000gn/T/XcodeDistPipeline.~~~OW0Dwk/Root/Payload/Application.app/Frameworks/Alamofire.framework: invalid or corrupted code requirement(s) Requirement syntax error(s): line 1:155: unexpected token: NPH )" I have never stuck with this issue before. Xcode Version 16.0 I assume that there is something related to code signing and our company name in App Store connect: Medical Institution “NPH” (The company name has been anonymized for privacy purposes.) Appreciate any help. Thank you!

For this new project, however, I am not the owner. When I try to "register bundle identifier" it results in: Error: Apple 403 detected - Access forbidden. This request is forbidden for security reasons - You currently don't have access to this membership resource. > eas credentials ✔ Select platform › iOS ✔ Which build profile do you want to configure? › preview ✔ Using build profile: preview If you provide your Apple account credentials we will be able to generate all necessary build credentials and fully validate them. This is optional, but without Apple account access you will need to provide all the missing values manually and we can only run minimal validation on them. ✔ Do you want to log in to your Apple account? … yes › Log in to your Apple Developer account to continue ✔ Apple ID: … myemail@gmail.com › Restoring session /Users/me/.app-store/auth/myemail@gmail.com/cookie ✔ Select a Team › My Project Team - Company/Organization (XXXXX) › Provider My Project Team LLC (XXXXX) ✔ Logged in Local session iOS Credentials Project @team/my-app Bundle Identifier com.teambundle.dev No credentials set up yet! ✔ What do you want to do? › Build Credentials: Manage everything needed to build your project iOS Credentials Project @team/my-app Bundle Identifier com.teambundle.dev No credentials set up yet! ✔ What do you want to do? › All: Set up all the required credentials to build your project ✖ Failed to register bundle identifier com.teambundle.dev Error: Apple 403 detected - Access forbidden. [Learn ](https://github.com/expo/fyi/blob/main/cryptic-error-eas.md) Why am I getting a 403?
