Posting a local notifications (or alert) from a launch agent
My Mac app has a launch agent (within the app bundle) that works great without the app running. There are some occasions where I need to display an alert and ask the user to launch the app to handle the issue. I thought about using UNUserNotificationCenter but I'm not able to make it work from the agent. I'm asking for authorization as follows: [center requestAuthorizationWithOptions:(UNAuthorizationOptionAlert | UNAuthorizationOptionSound | UNAuthorizationOptionBadge) completionHandler:^(BOOL granted, NSError * _Nullable error) { NSLog(@"authorization request completion. Granted: %@, error: %@ (%@)",granted?@"YES":@"NO",error, [error localizedDescription]); }]; And I'm trying to post the notification as follows: content.title = @"Your App Name"; content.body = @"Click the button to open the app"; content.sound = [UNNotificationSound defaultSound]; UNNotificationRequest *request = [UNNotificationRequest requestWithIdentifier:[[NSUUID UUID] UUIDString] content:content trigger:nil]; [center addNotificationRequest:request withCompletionHandler:^(NSError * _Nullable error) { if (error) { NSLog(@"Error showing notification: %@ %@", error, [error localizedDescription]); } }]; When running I'm getting asked to authorize, I authorize and all seems OK in system settings but I'm not able send any notifications. addNotificationRequest results in UNErrorCodeNotificationsNotAllowed error. I tried this with the authorization request inside the main app, or inside the agent, with the same results. When trying to post the notification from within the app, it does work, but that's not what I need. Is posting notifications from within the launch agent not possible at all, or is there anything here that I'm missing. TIA

Unknown APNs ERROR: BadEnvironmentKeyInToken when sending Push To Talk notifications
We’re sending PTT notifications from our server and are receiving HTTP 403 from APNs for certain phones with the reason field BadEnvironmentKeyInToken. Apple Push Certificates Portal Creale a Cerificate
I am currently encountering an issue: when creating a new push certificate on the Apple Push Notification Certificates portal, I am required to generate a signature beforehand. Could you please explain the specific rules for this signature and how I should go about generating it? (I previously attempted to generate the certificate using the following command—openssl req -new -key mdm_push.key -out mdm_push.csr—but after uploading it, I received an error indicating an incorrect format.) !

APNS notifications - too quiet custom sound
Our application is designated to be used in a quite noisy environment (childcare facility) so we have implemented really annoying custom sounds. Unfortunately the system audio session playing custom sounds is apparently limited to half of the device volume possibility, even though the user sets full volume in the settings. How to change this behaviour to get louder notification sounds? To be clear, I don't want to overcome user settings. If the user sets quieter volume or he sets the silent mode, the application should be silent too. I just need that 100% volume settings is actually 100% device volume. This is a really critical feature for us and for our customers. We have already tried to ask for the critical alerts and we have been rejected.

APNs Returning 200 OK for Uninstalled Apps Instead of 410 Error
We're experiencing an issue with Apple Push Notification service where APNs continues to return 200 OK responses for device tokens belonging to uninstalled applications. Push Notification Icon Not Updated on Some Devices After App Icon Change
Hi, We recently updated our app icon, but the push notification icon has not been updated on some devices. It still shows the old icon on: • iPhone 16 Pro — iOS 26 • iPhone 14 — iOS 26 • iPad Pro 11” (M4) — iOS 18.6.2 • iPhone 16 Plus — iOS 18.5 After restarting these devices, the push notification icon is refreshed and displays the new version correctly. Could you advise how we can ensure the push notification icon updates properly on all affected devices without requiring users to restart? Thank you.

APNs notification not getting delivered to only one device in production environment
I have a messaging app that has been working successfully for several years. It still works for most users, but about one month ago one of my users started experiencing issues receiving notifications. From my investigation, the user's Notification Service Extension (NSE) has not been triggered since they started reporting the issue. I was able to access the user's phone and connected it to the console to check for any logs related to the NSE being triggered or a push notification being received, but there were no relevant logs. I have already verified that notifications are enabled for the app and that Do Not Disturb is not active. I also tried sending a test notification using the CloudKit Console. The notification was successfully delivered to other push notification tokens, but it did not work for this specific device’s token. I have also confirmed that the push token on the server matches the one on the device and that it is being used with the APNs production environment. The issue for this user started in iOS version 26.2 and are still ongoing in version 26.3.1 . Has anyone encountered a similar issue or have suggestions on how to further diagnose this?

Device token not being extracted - iOS app registered for push notifications but callback methods not called
Background: The project was created in Xcode 5, then recreated in new Xcode. Before migration, push notifications worked without issues, after migration device token stopped being extracted. Problem: iOS app registers for push notifications, but didRegisterForRemoteNotificationsWithDeviceToken or didFailToRegisterForRemoteNotificationsWithError methods are not being called. Current situation: App is registered for push notifications (isRegisteredForRemoteNotifications = true) Notification permissions are granted Entitlements are configured correctly (aps-environment: development) Bundle ID: com.autoserviceonline.app Team: BUSINESSVISION COMPANY, TOO (NS3FSG45V7) But callback methods are not being called What I've already tried: Deleted and recreated all App IDs in Apple Developer Portal Cleared Xcode cache and derived data Created new APNs certificates and provisioning profiles Removed "ghost" certificate from Keychain Access Problem persists Additional information: Also noticed that Push Notifications Console opens non-existent project "BV.TestSwiftData" with Personal Team instead of current corporate App ID com.autoserviceonline.app. These issues might be related to project migration from old Xcode. Request: Why iOS doesn't call callback methods for device token, although registration was successful?

Inconsistent grouping of notifications
I'm sending push notifications to a notification extension, and within the extension setting the threadIdentifier to be the same. But I'm observing inconsistent grouping behaviour, and behaviour that changes over time. The general iPhone settings are to display notifications as a Stack, and the app settings are to show on lock screen, notification center and banners and the notification grouping is set to by app (changing it to automatic doesn't affect the behaviour below). Pushes are displayed on the lock screen grouped together, then if the device is roused and the screen swiped down to reveal the notification center then they are still grouped. So far so good. If the iphone is active then the notifications appear at the top of the screen, one by one, but in this case if there is a swipe down to reveal the notification center then the notifications are not grouped when displayed, but shown individually. But then if one waits a few minutes and then displays the notification center for a 2nd time, sometimes now they will be grouped, but sometimes not. Why are they not (always) being displayed as grouped in the notification center?

push notifications for VOIP app Max UC
Hello, we have a problem with fake call on iPhone device for incoming calls. When I leave the iPhone in idle state for 30, 40 seconds and dialed voip app number the iPhone rings and there is no problem. When I leave it in idle for longer time one minute or two minutes I get "Call Failed to Connect" on iPhone's display and after this fake call I get second call with real calling number displays on iPhone. This first fake call is triggered by wake up push notification type 'voip'. If I switched off this wake up push notification type 'voip' and device's token has not expired yet I don't get fake call and iPhone's directly displays calling number. But in this situation we need to use wake up push notification type 'voip' on during a certain time to keep the device's token in our database and continuing to receive calling number without fake call. If we switched off the wake up push notification type 'voip' on certain time we need to activate again wake up push notification type 'voip' for incoming calls to wake up the iPhone. And in this way every time on every incoming call the iPhone's will display first fake call "Call Failed to connect" and after that the call with Calling number. How we can eliminate this fake call and use only one wake up push notification only for incoming calls not use second type wake up push on certain time? Thank you, I paste here our code for this: public ApnClient(IOptions settings) { var httpHandler = new HttpClientHandler() { ClientCertificates = { new X509Certificate2(certificate.Export(X509ContentType.Pfx)) }, }; ServicePointManager.SecurityProtocol = SecurityProtocolType.Tls13; this.httpClient = new HttpClient(httpHandler) { DefaultRequestVersion = HttpVersion.Version20, DefaultVersionPolicy = HttpVersionPolicy.RequestVersionOrHigher, BaseAddress = new Uri(settings.Value.ApnProdBaseUri), DefaultRequestHeaders = { { "apns-topic", ApnsTopic }, }, }; } public async Task<bool> WakeUpDevice(string deviceToken, string callId) { this.requestContent = new StringContent( $"{{\"aps\":{{\"content-available\":\"1\"}}}}", System.Text.Encoding.UTF8, "application/json"); var res = await this.httpClient.PostAsync($"/3/device/{deviceToken}", this.requestContent); return res.IsSuccessStatusCode; }

Which apns errors should cause us to remove the tokens from our server's db?
Having some discussion about when we should clear out a token from our servers. Docs say: Don’t retry notification responses with the error code BadDeviceToken, DeviceTokenNotForTopic, Forbidden, ExpiredToken, Unregistered, or PayloadTooLarge. You can retry with a delay, if you get the error code TooManyRequests. The way I see it is that with the exception of PayloadTooLarge, all other errors means you should remove the token from your server. Either because: The token is no longer good The token is good, but this is just not the right: environment (sandbox vs production) topic (the token is from a different bundle id or developer team) target (app vs live activity appex) Do I have it right? Extra context: when using the "JSON Web Token Validator" tool, a colleague reported that a 410 -Expired token (from couple days back) was still valid today. This raises questions about when tokens should actually be deleted and how these error codes should be interpreted. Also is it possible for the docs to get updated for us to explicitly know if a token should get removed and not leave it for interpretation?

TIA

Request: Why iOS doesn't call callback methods for device token, although registration was successful?

push notifications for VOIP app Max UC
Hello, we have a problem with fake call on iPhone device for incoming calls. When I leave the iPhone in idle state for 30, 40 seconds and dialed voip app number the iPhone rings and there is no problem. When I leave it in idle for longer time one minute or two minutes I get "Call Failed to Connect" on iPhone's display and after this fake call I get second call with real calling number displays on iPhone. This first fake call is triggered by wake up push notification type 'voip'. If I switched off this wake up push notification type 'voip' and device's token has not expired yet I don't get fake call and iPhone's directly displays calling number. But in this situation we need to use wake up push notification type 'voip' on during a certain time to keep the device's token in our database and continuing to receive calling number without fake call. If we switched off the wake up push notification type 'voip' on certain time we need to activate again wake up push notification type 'voip' for incoming calls to wake up the iPhone. And in this way every time on every incoming call the iPhone's will display first fake call "Call Failed to connect" and after that the call with Calling number. How we can eliminate this fake call and use only one wake up push notification only for incoming calls not use second type wake up push on certain time? Thank you, I paste here our code for this: public ApnClient(IOptions settings) { var httpHandler = new HttpClientHandler() { ClientCertificates = { new X509Certificate2(certificate.Export(X509ContentType.Pfx)) }, }; ServicePointManager.SecurityProtocol = SecurityProtocolType.Tls13; this.httpClient = new HttpClient(httpHandler) { DefaultRequestVersion = HttpVersion.Version20, DefaultVersionPolicy = HttpVersionPolicy.RequestVersionOrHigher, BaseAddress = new Uri(settings.Value.ApnProdBaseUri), DefaultRequestHeaders = { { "apns-topic", ApnsTopic }, }, }; } public async Task<bool> WakeUpDevice(string deviceToken, string callId) { this.requestContent = new StringContent( $"{{\"aps\":{{\"content-available\":\"1\"}}}}", System.Text.Encoding.UTF8, "application/json"); var res = await this.httpClient.PostAsync($"/3/device/{deviceToken}", this.requestContent); return res.IsSuccessStatusCode; }
