Inquiry About Deferred Deep Link Limitation and Alternative Options
Dear Apple Support Team, I hope this message finds you well. I’m reaching out to inquire about the limitations of deferred deep linking within iOS applications. Specifically, I’m interested in understanding the constraints and challenges that prevent deferred deep links from functioning as expected in certain scenarios (e.g., when the app is not installed or other related issues). Additionally, I would like to ask if there are any recommended alternative approaches or solutions to implement deep linking, ensuring that users can still be directed to specific content or screens even if they need to install the app first. Your insights and guidance would be greatly appreciated as I work to enhance the user experience in my app. Thank you for your time and assistance. Best regards, Santosh

Issues with ApplicationTokens After Transferring an App Using FamilyControls Framework
I am encountering an issue after transferring an app that uses the FamilyControls framework to a different app account. After releasing a new version of the app post-transfer, the following problems arose: ApplicationTokens obtained in the pre-transfer version no longer function when used with ManagedSettingsGroup.ShieldSettings in the post-transfer version. Using the same ApplicationTokens with Label(_ applicationToken: ApplicationToken) does not display the app name or icon. These issues did not occur in the pre-transfer version and everything worked as expected. We suspect that ApplicationTokens obtained prior to the transfer are no longer valid in the updated app released under the new app account. We are seeking guidance on the following: Is this expected behavior after transferring an app to another app account? What steps should we take to ensure that ApplicationTokens obtained before the transfer remain functional in the post-transfer environment? If these tokens are invalidated due to the transfer, what are the recommended procedures for regenerating or updating ApplicationTokens for existing app users? Maintaining a seamless user experience after transferring the app is critical. We would greatly appreciate any insights or guidance. Please let us know if additional information or logs would assist in investigating this issue. Thank you!

Question about App Clip Update Behavior
Hello, I would like to understand the update behavior for App Clips. Let's consider a scenario where a user has an App Clip on their device from a previous interaction. If I, as the developer, then publish a new version of the App Clip to the App Store, what is the expected behavior? My main questions are: Will the App Clip be automatically updated in the background? Or, is user action required to get the new version, for example, by deleting the old one and re-launching it from a Smart App Banner or QR code? Any information on this process would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

How to manage child device's apps through an app on parent's phone using Screen Time Controls?
When we request auth from the AuthorizationCenter, it seems that we're only really able to allow users to control the apps on the parent's phone. Is there a way to allow us to let parents manage apps on the kid's device directly through our parent app? For context, we have 2 different apps, one for the parent and one for the child. The child is able to purchase screen time and the parent can redeem them (activate those minutes) from their end.

Preparing your app to be the default calling app on iOS 18.2?
Hello, I’m working on a caller ID app and with the release of iOS 18.2, Apple has introduced the ability to set a third-party app as the default calling app. I have followed the official documentation for this feature and successfully set my app as the default phone app for making and receiving calls. Documentation Reference: https://developer.apple.com/documentation/callkit/preparing-your-app-to-be-the-default-calling-app Now, I’m facing some challenges and need some guidance: Custom UI for Incoming Cellular Calls: Is it possible to show a custom UI when receiving SIM-based cellular calls (not VoIP)? I want to replace the default iOS call screen with my own design when a cellular call is received. Can CallKit allow me to manage and display this custom UI for real cellular calls? Detecting Incoming Cellular Calls: Can I detect incoming SIM-based cellular calls when my app is set as the default calling app? I would like to track and show details of incoming calls (e.g., caller information, call duration) using a custom interface. Displaying Call Data (Call Duration, Recent Calls): Can I show call data (e.g., call duration, recent call history, etc.) for SIM-based cellular calls within my app when it is the default calling app? I need to know if it’s possible to retrieve and display this data in a custom format. Managing Outgoing Cellular Calls: For SIM-based outgoing calls, can I handle the process of initiating the call and then show a custom UI for the call in progress (similar to how VoIP apps manage outgoing calls)? I understand that CallKit can be used to manage the UI for calls, but I’m unsure about the limitations when it comes to real SIM-based cellular calls. Is it possible to implement these features with the current API capabilities, or are there any restrictions I should be aware of when managing cellular network calls? Thanks in advance for your help!

Does Contact Provider supports Localize when ask Permission
When I call https://developer.apple.com/documentation/contactprovider/contactprovidermanager/enable() to request to use Contact Provider, I received a dialog with message like this "App Name would like to add its contacts as its own list. Contacts added this way can be removed from settings". I would like to support this message in Japanese or other languages. Is it possible?

Change default handler for tel URL scheme on macOS
My app is a VoIP softphone for Mac that allows people to make phone calls to a regular phone numbers. The app exists since before Mac App Store. The app declares itself to the system as capable of handling tel: URLs. Until now, people could change the default handler for tel URLs in FaceTime settings (Default for calls). In macOS Tahoe 26, this doesn't seem to be possible any more. That option is gone from the FaceTime settings. Is it completely gone or has it been moved somewhere else? If there is no UI control for this any more, is it possible to change it programmatically?

Message Filter Extension - Query Parameters in ILMessageFilterExtensionNetworkURL
Hi, I'm implementing a Message Filter Extension and need clarification about the ILMessageFilterExtensionNetworkURL Info.plist key. Is it valid to include query parameters in the URL like: https://example.com/test?id=123 I want to make sure this approach will pass App Review before implementing it. The query parameter would be used to identify the client making the filtering request. Has anyone successfully used URLs with query parameters in their approved Message Filter Extensions? Any insights would be appreciated. Thanks!

`user` not returned from Sign in with Apple REST API
I have tried everything to get the user field returned with Sign in flow and it never does, not for new users, not even if i create a new app! Working with Apple is so frustrating and you have to pay for it!! Referencing this page, I am using scope=name email. I have tried using + and %20 as the spacer and neither makes a difference. I have also tried setting response_type = code and code id_token (again with + and %20 as the spacer) which also doesn't make a difference. Always the id_token is returned and always the email, but never the user. https://developer.apple.com/documentation/sign_in_with_apple/sign_in_with_apple_js/incorporating_sign_in_with_apple_into_other_platforms#3332115 AUTHORIZE REQUEST https://appleid.apple.com/auth/authorize? { "response_type": "code", "client_id": "com.example.service", "scope": "name email", "state": "77264297-813c-4738-83ef-f1b77daea04c", "redirect_uri": "https://example.com/auth/apple/callback", "code_challenge_method": "S256", "code_challenge": "2SJCneEpjKcN.....xIIHnpqcvjK_Y0s", "access_type": "offline", "nonce": "1734523662", "response_mode": "form_post" } TOKEN REQUEST https://appleid.apple.com/auth/token? { "grant_type": "authorization_code", "code": "c870aaec987a14.....dqakaGP4Yn1nH3dnPgww", "client_id": "com.hikesync.service", "client_secret": "eyJhbGciOiJFUzI....3izij6dojYfdV6JMdbQPx3sOA", "redirect_uri": "https://hikesync.com/auth/apple/callback", "code_verifier": "38hHUC....mYuE0zfYVNTycg" } RESPONSE { "access_token": "a2b70e12d38b446....4hA7-RLNj0ifU5Q", "token_type": "Bearer", "expires_in": 3600, "refresh_token": "rb4ed9be2b4024......w5RWjVFUQ", "id_token": "eyJraWQiOiJyQlJmV.......0Df0ihEJiA" } JWT { "iss": "https://appleid.apple.com", "aud": "SERVICE_ID", "exp": 1734606699, "iat": 1734520299, "sub": "000000.f7f7c0ac.....db9fad7e19.1111", "nonce": "NONCE", "at_hash": "NAfjmciTi2NtmPYIMAgjig", "email": "abc123@privaterelay.appleid.com", "email_verified": true, "is_private_email": true, "auth_time": 1734520297, "nonce_supported": true }

Label with ApplicationToken cannot be styled?
Hi, I'm trying to make use of the Device Activity Labels where you supply an ApplicationToken. I can successfully get it to show the icon + title of the Application (twitter in my case) but I cannot get the styling to work. // Works .labelStyle(.iconOnly) .labelStyle(.titleOnly) .border(...) ![]("https://developer.apple.com/forums/content/attachment/9660b578-a36f-4d5a-ae18-653a207aa5ab" "title=Screenshot 2023-03-12 at 12.57.34 PM.png;width=1218;height=844") // Does NOT work .font(.largeTitle) .foregroundColor(.blue) I have checked the same style (or just modifiers) against a standard Label and they actually do work in the code below. // This is an application token. Some style not applied. Label(targetApp) .labelStyle(MyStyle()) // Showing the same style using a simple label. All styles correctly applied. Label("Twitter", systemImage: "video.square.fill") .labelStyle(MyStyle()) Is changing the font + color of the title for this Label(_ applicationToken:) supported?

Issues Handling Multiple Incoming Calls in CallKit
Certainly! Here's a concise version of your forum post: Title: Issues Handling Multiple Incoming Calls in CallKit Body: Hello, I'm using CallKit and I am encountering challenges with handling multiple incoming calls. Current Configuration: configuration.maximumCallsPerCallGroup = 5 configuration.maximumCallGroups = 3 This setup aims to allow up to 5 calls per group. Observed Behavior: Despite the configuration, the system UI seems to limit the number of calls per group, often defaulting to "End & Accept" instead of "Hold & Accept" when a third call comes in. Questions: Is there a documented system-imposed limit on the number of calls per group or total calls, even if maximumCallGroups and maximumCallsPerCallGroup are set higher? How does the system UI behave when these limits are exceeded? Are there known UI constraints or fallback behaviors? Are there best practices for handling scenarios where the system UI cannot display all calls, such as gracefully managing incoming calls or providing alternative UI solutions? Any insights or experiences with similar configurations would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Feel free to copy and paste this directly into the Apple Developer Forums. If you need further assistance or adjustments, let me know!

Device Activity Monitor Schedules Disappear
Hey everyone, I have an app using the screen time api, I've had quite a few reports from users saying that our monitoring features stop working until they open our app. What happens is that activities and schedules set with the device activity monitor seem to disappear. This is something we check on app re-opens and so we schedule them again and that is why the monitoring starts working again. Of course our current solution is not optimal since our app is mainly passive. Has anyone experienced these kinds of issue ?

Setting the "Open With ..." application for multiple files
On macOS, one can set the "Open With ..." application in the information panel of a file without changing the default for this file type. However, doing this for a number of files is very tedious. A simple case is to change all .txt files in a directory to a special editor, but leave the system wide default (usually TextEdit). I have tried AppleScript, command line tools as well as a minimal GUI app (using LSSetItemAttribute), but all fail because of a lack of permission. Is there any way to achieve this?

Exact Extract of Text from PDF
The problem is that when I read out the text in a PDF with page.string or page.attributedString, the context of the lines is lost. Instead of TermA....23,45 TermB....2,13 in an index document TermA TermB 23,45 2,13 is issued. The context of the lines (and the sequence of the letters) is lost. Is there a way to read the text from a PDF line by line?

MetricKit Payload Not Populating on Enterprise
I'm working on adding MetricKit to our iPad application that we distribute internally via Enterprise distribution. I've set up the didReceive functions for both MXMetricPayload and MXDiagnosticPayload. When I build onto a device via Xcode and use the Simulate MetricKit Payloads command, everything works as expected. The issue I'm having is when testing on a device via our enterprise distribution. When I simulate a crash, I am receiving the MXDiagnosticPayload so that part is working correctly. However, I am never receiving a MXMetricPayload. I've been using the app and waiting up to 3 days in some tests and not receiving any payload over that time frame. Some information I found suggested the issue might be MetricKit not working fully on enterprise apps but I haven't been able to find a definitive source on that question. Hoping someone here can guide me on that. Thanks!

How to test Declared Age Range functionality
How can experimentation and testing calling the AgeRangeService.shared.requestAgeRange() functionality be recreated easily? The very first time I ran this the OS popped up a dialog, however it won't do so again, even after the app is deleted and the device re-started. If one navigates to Settings/User/Personal Information/Age Range for Apps/Apps that have requested your age range appear here. Then the names of apps appear here even after the app has been deleted. Therefore how can it be removed from this section? Erasing and resetting the phone will presumably reset things back to a state such that the dialog can be presented again. But doing that and having to wait for that to complete each development or test run is impractical. Is there an alternative?

FinanceKit - authorization process is not entitled error
I'm currently experimenting with the latest Xcode beta 15.3 (15E5194e) and attempting to integrate FinanceKit](https://developer.apple.com/documentation/financekit) into my project. However, I've encountered a persistent issue where the app crashes upon attempting to read or request authorization, accompanied by the following error message: FinanceKit/FinanceStore+FinancialDataAuthorization.swift:52: Fatal error: Process is not entitled Upon investigation, I've found no evident entitlements for FinanceKit, despite exploring options like Apple Wallet. Furthermore, I thoroughly examined the info.plist for relevant privacy values but found nothing pertinent. Here's the code snippet that triggers the fatal error, whether it's the request or read function: I don't see anything in entitlements for FinanceKit (I tried Apple Wallet and that didn't make a difference). Additionally, I checked for relevant privacy values for the info.plist but again didn't see anything relevant. Here is the code to reproduce the error (note calling either function will result in the same fatal error): import FinanceKit import UIKit class ViewController: UIViewController { override func viewDidLoad() { super.viewDidLoad() requestFinancePermission() // readFinancePermission() } private func requestFinancePermission() { Task { do { let status = try await FinanceStore.shared.requestAuthorization() } catch { print("Error: \(error)") } } } private func readFinancePermission() { Task { do { let status = try await FinanceStore.shared.authorizationStatus() } catch { print("Error: \(error)") } } } } I'm seeking clarification on whether FinanceKit is currently usable or if there are additional steps needed for proper integration. Any insights or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

CardSession.Error.maxSessionDurationReached not thrown on iOS 26
Hello, I have an app that emulates an NFC card using NFC HCE. Since yesterday I saw an increasing number of crashes on iOS 26 only, which wasn't there before. From what I can see, it seems the app crashes when the NFC presentment intent is shown and 60 seconds passed and user does nothing. The app just crashes after 60 seconds. On previous iOS versions, I know that CardSession.Error.maxSessionDurationReached was thrown after 60 seconds. Is something changed in iOS 26?

IdentityLookup deferQueryRequestToNetwork error 3 despite valid AASA and extension setup
I'm seeking help troubleshooting a persistent com.apple.IdentityLookup.error.messagefilter Code=3 error when my Message Filter Extension tries to defer to network. I’ve exhausted Apple documentation and forum posts, and Apple Support has asked me to escalate this via the forums to reach engineering. ✅ My Setup: Xcode: 16.2 macOS: Sequoia 15.3.1 (Apple Silicon Mac mini) Device: iPhone 14 Pro iOS: 18.3.2 (Developer Mode enabled) Tested via: TestFlight install on real device 📦 App Structure: Main App Target (minimal "hello world" logic) Message Filter Extension Target Messages Extension Target Message Reporting Extension Target Notifications Extension Target ✅ Capabilities & Configurations Main App Capabilities: App Groups: group.com.example.shared Network Extensions: Content Filter Associated Domains: messagefilter:my-api.example.com applinks:my-api.example.com Message Filter Capabilities: App Groups: same as main app Network Extensions: Content Filter Associated Domains: same as above 📄 Info.plist Config Main App Info.plist: NSAppTransportSecurity with: NSAllowsArbitraryLoads = YES Exception domain my-api.example.com with: NSIncludesSubdomains = YES NSTemporaryExceptionAllowsInsecureHTTPLoads = YES NSTemporaryExceptionMinimumTLSVersion = TLSv1.2 MessageFilter Info.plist: Same ATS settings as above NSExtension block: <key>NSExtension</key> <dict> <key>NSExtensionAttributes</key> <dict> <key>ILMessageFilterExtensionNetworkURL</key> <string>https://my-api.example.com/api/sms-filter</string> <key>ILClassificationExtensionSMSReportDestination</key> <string>+10000000000</string> </dict> <key>NSExtensionPointIdentifier</key> <string>com.apple.identitylookup.message-filter</string> <key>NSExtensionPrincipalClass</key> <string>$(PRODUCT_MODULE_NAME).MessageFilterExtension</string> </dict> 📜 Entitlements Main App Entitlements <key>com.apple.developer.associated-domains</key> <array> <string>messagefilter:my-api.example.com</string> <string>applinks:my-api.example.com</string> </array> <key>com.apple.developer.networking.networkextension</key> <array> <string>content-filter-provider</string> </array> <key>com.apple.security.application-groups</key> <array> <string>group.com.example.shared</string> </array> Message Filter Extension Entitlements Identical to main app’s, scoped to the extension. 📄 AASA File (Hosted on https://my-api.example.com/.well-known/apple-app-site-association) Serves as application/json, returns 200 OK, and is reachable on device via Safari. (com.apple.IdentityLookup.error.messagefilter error 3.) The extension loads, network URL is available, the AASA is installed, and yet the extension is not allowed to defer to network. This occurs every time. 🧪 Other Notes Tried rebuilding everything from scratch Archiving to TestFlight, not running via Xcode Clean entitlements verified using codesign -d --entitlements :- Console logs show no issues with AASA download or validation Any help or insights from Apple engineering or others in the community who have successfully deployed a working Message Filter Extension would be hugely appreciated. Thanks in advance 🙏
