Access a DepthMap while RoomCaptureSession
I'm capturing a room via RoomPlan API and would like to access the DepthMap(sceneDepth) or SmoothDepthMap(smoothedSceneDepth) from my own provided ARSession for RoomCaptureSession. But both depth maps are empty when handling the delegates. I have not found a solution yet. So is it even possible? Because i have not found any documentation of what RoomCaptureSession overwrites in the ARSession if I provide my own ARSession instance. Here is a example code snippet of what i'm trying to do: private let arSession = ARSession() private lazy var roomPlanCaptureSession = RoomCaptureSession(arSession: arSession) let arConfig = ARWorldTrackingConfiguration() //Create semantics for ARconfig which is used for ARSession var semantics: ARWorldTrackingConfiguration.FrameSemantics = [] if ARWorldTrackingConfiguration.supportsFrameSemantics(.sceneDepth) { semantics.insert(.sceneDepth) } if ARWorldTrackingConfiguration.supportsFrameSemantics(.smoothedSceneDepth) { semantics.insert(.smoothedSceneDepth) } arConfig.frameSemantics = semantics //set delegates roomPlanCaptureSession.delegate = self arSession.delegate = self //Check if device support for depthMap if ARWorldTrackingConfiguration.supportsFrameSemantics(.sceneDepth){ arSession.run(arConfig) } else{ print(".sceneDepth is unsupported.") } //run roomcapture scan config let captureConfig = RoomCaptureSession.Configuration() roomPlanCaptureSession.run(configuration: captureConfig) //trying to get sceneDepth public func session(_ session: ARSession, didUpdate frame: ARFrame) { print("session delegate capture: sceneDepth: \(String(describing: frame.sceneDepth))") //prints: session delegate capture: sceneDepth: nil also in this video from 2023 it is say that i can pass custom ARSession to my RoomPlan. Explore enhancements to RoomPlan - Video Quote 3:00: Here is the init and stop function in previous RoomPlan. And here is how you pass over a custom ARSession to init function. Any custom ARSession with ARWorldTrackingConfiguration will be honored inside RoomCaptureSession. anyway I welcome any input. maybe im doing something wrong. :)

visionOS: AVFoundation cannot deliver simultaneous video from two external (UVC) cameras; no public USB fallback exists
Area: visionOS 26.4 · AVFoundation · AVCapture · External/UVC video Classification: Suggestion / API Enhancement Request (also: Incorrect/Missing Documentation) Device / OS: Apple Vision Pro, visionOS 26.x. Xcode 26.4.1, XROS26.4.sdk. Summary On visionOS, a third-party app cannot display two UVC USB cameras (connected through a powered USB-C hub) at the same time. Every AVFoundation path that would enable this on iPadOS is either unavailable or fails at runtime on visionOS, and there is no public non-AVFoundation fallback (no IOUSBHost, no DriverKit, no usable CoreMediaIO, no MFi path for generic UVC devices). This is a real capability gap relative to iPadOS and macOS, and Camo Studio on iPadOS (App Store ID 6450313385) demonstrates the two-camera USB-hub use case is legitimate and valuable for spatial-video/hybrid-capture workflows on Vision Pro. Steps to reproduce Connect a powered USB-C hub to Apple Vision Pro with two UVC webcams attached. Build a visionOS app that uses AVCaptureDevice.DiscoverySession(deviceTypes: [.external], …). Observe: both cameras are discovered and enumerate as distinct AVCaptureDevices. Attempt A — two independent sessions: Create two independent AVCaptureSessions, each with one AVCaptureDeviceInput and one AVCaptureVideoDataOutput, start both. Result: only one session delivers sample buffers. The other stalls silently with no error and no interruption notification. Attempt B — AVCaptureMultiCamSession with manual connections (the pattern that works on iPadOS 18+): Result: code does not compile. In XROS26.4.sdk: AVCaptureInputPort is API_UNAVAILABLE(visionos) (AVCaptureInput.h) AVCaptureInput.ports is API_UNAVAILABLE(visionos) AVCaptureDeviceInput.portsWithMediaType:sourceDeviceType:sourceDevicePosition: is API_UNAVAILABLE(macos, visionos) Therefore AVCaptureConnection(inputPorts:output:) cannot be constructed. AVCaptureMultiCamSession itself is declared API_AVAILABLE(… visionos(2.1)), which is misleading because without input-port access the manual-connection path the class requires is unreachable. Expected behavior Either of the following would resolve this, in order of preference: Expose the missing API surface on visionOS. Make AVCaptureInputPort, AVCaptureInput.ports, and AVCaptureDeviceInput.portsWithMediaType:sourceDeviceType:sourceDevicePosition: available on visionOS so the documented iPadOS multi-cam pattern compiles and runs. AVCaptureMultiCamSession is already declared available — the supporting API surface should match. Allow two concurrent plain AVCaptureSessions to each own a distinct external AVCaptureDevice. Each session binds a different hardware device, and the current serialization appears to be a software policy rather than a hardware constraint (a powered hub has bandwidth for both). Document the limit explicitly and surface a clear error or interruption reason on the stalled session so apps can fail loudly instead of appearing to work. Actual behavior AVCaptureMultiCamSession advertises visionos(2.1) availability but the APIs required to wire its connections are marked unavailable on visionOS. Two concurrent AVCaptureSessions silently deliver frames to only one session; no error is reported on the other. There is no public alternative framework on visionOS for raw UVC access to work around this: IOUSBHost.framework — not present in XROS26.4.sdk DriverKit — not present in XROS26.4.sdk IOKit — ships a stub (IOKit.tbd); no public USB device interfaces CoreMediaIO — headers are an apinotes stub on visionOS ExternalAccessory — MFi-only; generic UVC devices don't enumerate This means there is no public path, AVFoundation or otherwise, for a third-party visionOS app to display two UVC cameras at once. Impact / use cases Apple Vision Pro is uniquely suited to multi-camera monitoring and capture workflows — spatial creators, broadcast/AV producers, multi-angle reference during immersive authoring, clinical and field-recording use cases, and apps that combine a primary UVC cinema camera with a secondary UVC reference/overview angle. iPadOS already supports this via AVCaptureMultiCamSession (demonstrated shipping by Camo Studio). The current visionOS limitation pushes these workflows back to iPad or macOS and undermines Vision Pro's positioning as a pro capture/monitor environment. References iPadOS reference implementation: Apple sample Displaying Video From Connected Devices + AVCaptureMultiCamSession with manual AVCaptureConnection wiring — works on iPadOS 18+ with two UVC cameras via a powered hub. Shipping precedent: Camo Studio — two simultaneous UVC cameras via USB hub on iPad — https://apps.apple.com/us/app/camo-studio-stream-record/id6450313385 visionOS 26.4 SDK headers cited above (AVCaptureInput.h, AVCaptureSession.h).

VisionOS 26 - threadsPerThreadgroup limit causing crash on device (but not in simulator)
Hi all, I'm running into an issue with an app that previously worked fine on device using visionOS 2.0. After updating to visionOS 26, the same code runs fine in the simulator but crashes on the device with the following error: -[MTLDebugComputeCommandEncoder _validateThreadsPerThreadgroup:]:1330: failed assertion `(threadsPerThreadgroup.width(32) * threadsPerThreadgroup.height(32) * threadsPerThreadgroup.depth(1))(1024) must be <= 832. (kernel threadgroup size limit)` Is there any documented way to check or increase the allowed threadsPerThreadgroup size on Apple Vision Pro? Or any recommended workaround for this regression? Thanks in advance!

Vision Pro App Development Outside Supported Countries (Apple ID / Region Restrictions?)
Hello, does anyone have experience using Apple Vision Pro in countries where it has not yet been officially released? I work for a company in Austria, and we are interested in developing internal XR applications for Vision Pro. Since the device is not officially available in Austria, we are considering purchasing it in Germany. My main question is whether it is possible to develop and test Vision Pro apps using an Austrian Apple ID / developer account, or if there are any regional restrictions we should be aware of (e.g., related to App Store access, provisioning, or device functionality). Apple Support was unfortunately unable to provide a definitive answer and recommended asking here. Any insights or experiences would be greatly appreciated. Best regards, Don Appelonie

[WWDC25] For GuessTogether, can you initiate a FaceTime call via the custom SharePlay button?
Hello, For GuessTogether source code, it seems like the code assumes that you're already in a FaceTime call before pressing the custom SharePlay button (labeled "Play Guess Together"). If not already on a FaceTime call, my Apple Vision Pro and the visionOS simulator both do nothing after throwing warnings. Is this intended behavior? If so, how do I make it so that pressing the button can also initiate FaceTime calls? Is this allowed? Thank you!

RoomCaptureView runs on the latest system with a serious bug causing errors
I am using RoomCaptureView for house scanning and modeling On the latest iOS 26, the following issues were encountered The program runs well on iOS 26 and below, but on iOS 26 and above, the probability of scene localization failure becomes abnormally high, and accurate indoor localization cannot be obtained. Additionally, the probability of using RoomBuilder to merge models is also high After compiling the program using xcode 26 or above, a necessary bug appeared when running it on iOS 26, RoomCaptureView is completely unable to run The error message is {RoomCaptureSession. Capture Error's' Internal error '} And the camera interface of RoomCaptureView has turned into a splash screen Another Debug error occurred:{ -[MTLDebugRenderCommandEncoder validateCommonDrawErrors:]:5970: failed assertion `Draw Errors Validation Fragment Function(realitykit::fsSurfaceShadow): incorrect type of texture (MTLTextureType2D) bound at Texture binding at index 14 (expect MTLTextureType1D) for tonemapLUT[0]. } When using programs compiled under xcode 26 and running on iOS 26, this issue will not occur

Xcode fails to compile Blender-exported USDZ in .rkassets with misleading "permission" error — Xcode 26.3
The error: When building a RealityKitContent package that contains a USDZ file exported from Blender, Xcode throws the following error: error: [xrsimulator] Exception thrown during compile: Cannot get rkassets content for path .../RealityKitContent.rkassets because 'The file "RealityKitContent.rkassets" couldn't be opened because you don't have permission to view it.' error: Tool exited with code 1 The error message mentions "permission" — but permissions are not the issue. This appears to be a misleading error from realitytool masking a USD validation failure. What I've ruled out File permissions — all files are -rw-r--r--, user has Read & Write on the folder Extended attributes / quarantine flag — other files with the same @ flag work fine Corrupted archive — unzip -t confirms the USDZ is valid (board.usdc + textures) Stale build cache — deleted DerivedData and com.apple.DeveloperTools cache, no change Key observations The same file builds successfully on my colleague's machine running identical Xcode 26.3 - MacOS 26.3 Other USDZ files in the same .rkassets bundle (downloaded from Sketchfab, or created in Reality Composer Pro) compile without any issue. Only USDZ files exported directly from Blender are affected. When the file is placed in Bundle.main and loaded via Entity(named:in:.main), it works perfectly — no errors Reality Converter flags the file with two errors: UsdGeomPointInstancers not allowed, and root layer must be .usdc with no external dependencies The confusing part: the same file compiles fine on an identical Xcode 26.3 setup and importing method. This suggests either a machine-specific difference in Xcode's validation behavior, or a cached .reality bundle on my colleague's machine that isn't being recompiled. Current workaround: Loading from Bundle.main instead of the RealityKitContent package bypasses realitytool entirely and works, but loses Reality Composer Pro integration: if let entity = try? await Entity(named: "test", in: Bundle.main)

UIRequiredDeviceCapabilities values?
I've submitted my first AR app for iPhone and iPad to iTunes Connect. After sending a binary to iTunes Connect, I've received the following warning message. The app contains the following UIRequiredDeviceCapabilities values, which aren’t supported in visionOS: [arkit]. No. 1, my app doesn't support visionOS. No. 2, I don't have the UIRequiredDeviceCapabilities dictionary in info.plist. Why am I receiving this warning? One article related to this issue that I've read suggests that I remove the UIRequiredDeviceCapabilities dictionary. Well, I don't have it in my plist. What can I do with this warning message? Thanks.

Position and orientation of a window in an immersive space
Is it possible to retrieve the position and orientation of a window that is opened in an immersive space? The following code: struct MyWindow: View { var body: some View { VStack { Text("Hello") } .onGeometryChange3D(for: Point3D.self) { proxy in try! proxy .coordinateSpace3D() .convert(value: Point3D.zero, to: .worldReference) } action : { point in print(point) } } } seems to work for the position, but I also need the orientation.

Current Apple Forum about ARKit and visionOS
Recently, questions about ARKit/visionOS seem to be being asked in the Apple forum by internal Apple engineers. Inexperienced and untested makeshift features are being offered, putting average but experienced developers in a difficult position. They are unable to react and get something useful from the posts. Apple needs to review the situation.

Request: More Fine-Grained Control in Object Capture (PhotogrammetrySession)
Hi Apple Team and Developers, First of all, I’d like to express my appreciation for the incredible results achieved using PhotogrammetrySession. I’ve been developing a portrait scanning app using Object Capture, and in many tests—especially with human models—I’ve found the reconstructed body surfaces are remarkably smooth and clean, often outperforming tools like Metashape and RealityCapture in terms of aesthetic results. However, I’ve encountered some challenges when working with complex areas like long hair overlapping the face. For instance, with female models where strands of hair partially occlude the face, the resulting mesh tends to merge the hair and facial geometry. This leads to distorted or “melted” facial features, likely due to ambiguity in the geometry estimation phase. Feature Suggestion: Would it be possible to allow developers to supply two versions of the input images: • One version (original) for texture generation • A pre-processed version (e.g., contrast-enhanced or CLAHE filtered) to guide mesh reconstruction only This would give us the flexibility to enhance edge features or shadow detail without affecting the final texture appearance. In other photogrammetry pipelines, applying image enhancement selectively before dense reconstruction improves geometry quality in low-contrast areas. Question: Is there any plan to support this kind of two-path workflow in future versions of PhotogrammetrySession? Or perhaps expose more intermediate stages or tunable parameters to developers? Also, any hints on what we can expect from WWDC 2025 regarding improvements to Object Capture or related vision/3D technologies? Thanks again for this powerful API. Looking forward to hearing insights from the team and other developers. Warm regards, KitCheng

.usdz files not loading in iOS app
Hello everyone, I'm a new developer and I'm still learning the foundations of Swift and SwiftUI while building my first app. Today I wanted to ask you how to implement AR Quixck Views inside my app. I wanna be able to dynamically preview AR objects in a dedicated view, however, I don't seem to have understood where and how to locate AR objects inside my project. I tried including them in the Assets folder of the project, or in the Recources folder, or within the main folder of my project alongside the MyAppApp.swift file. None of the methods I used seemed have worked in that none of the objects was ever located. I made sure to specify the path to the files every time, but somehow the location isn't recognized. I also tried giving no path so that the app would search for the files in their default location (which I apparently haven't grasped yet), but still my attempt failed. I don't have the code sample on me at the moment, but I will write a followup comment on this post to show you what I wrote in case anyone was interested in debugging my code. Meanwhile, if anyone would be so kind to point me at the support article or to comment below the sample code they used in their app, I would very much appreciate it, so that I can start debugging. Thank you for reading this, I appreciate you.

How to make .blur(radius:) visually affect RealityView content?
According to the official documentation, the .blur(radius:) modifier could apply gaussian blur to a realityview. However, when applied directly to a RealityView, nothing inside it (neither 2D attachments nor 3D entities) appears to be blurred. Here’s the test code: struct ContentView: View { var body: some View { VStack(spacing: 20) { Text("Above the RealityView") .font(.title) RealityView { content, attachments in if let text = attachments.entity(for: "2dView") { text.position.y = 0.1 content.add(text) } let box = ModelEntity( mesh: .generateBox(size: 0.1), materials: [SimpleMaterial(color: .red, isMetallic: true)] ) content.add(box) } attachments: { Attachment(id: "2dView") { Text("Above the Box") .font(.title) } } .frame(width: 300, height: 300) .border(.blue) .blur(radius: 99) // Has no visual effect Text("Below the RealityView") .font(.subheadline) } .padding() } } My question: How can I make .blur(radius:) visually affect the content rendered in a RealityView? Can you provide a working example that .blur() to visually affect any part of a RealityView? Thanks!

Possible Bug - Hover Effects/Spatial Event Compatibilty with PSVR2 Controllers?
Hi, I would like clarification on whether the new hover effects feature introduced in vision os 26 supported pinch gestures through the psvr 2 controllers. In your sample application, I found that this was not working. Pulling the trigger on the controller whilst looking at the 3d object did not activate the hover effect spatial event in the sample application. (The object is showing the highlight though), only pinch clicking with my fingers seem to be registering/triggering the spatial event. I am using Vision OS 26.3 This is inconsistent with how the psvr2 controller behaves on swift ui views and ui view elements, where the trigger press does count as a button click. The sample I used was this one: https://developer.apple.com/documentation/compositorservices/rendering_hover_effects_in_metal_immersive_apps

I built apple.PHASE with Unity and targeted with visionOS, but Reverb does not sound.
Environment Versions ・macOS15.6.1 ・visionOS26.0.1 ・Xcode16.1 or 26.0.1 ・unity6000.2.9f1 ・Apple.core3.2.0 ・Apple.PHASE1.2.7 ・polyspatial2.4.2 With the above environment, after installing Apple.PHASE into unity and building to a visionOS device, Audio is available and distance attention works, but Early Reflection and Late Reverb produce no audible change even when checked and their parameters are adjusted. What is required to make Early Reflection and Late Reverb take effect on a visionOS device build? action taken ・created a SoundEvent. ・in composer, created a Sampler and a SpatialMixer; attached an AudioClip to the Sampler; enabled Direct Path, Early Reflection, and Late Reverb on the SpatialMixer. ・attached a PHASE Source to the object to be played, attached the created SoundEvent to it, and set non-zero values for Early Reflection and Late Reverb. ・attached a PHASE Listener to the mainCamera and set the ReverbPreset to a value other than None. ・in project settings > Audio, set Spatializer plugin to PHASE Spatializer. ・from there, build for visionOS.

Immersive environment learning material
I really love the immersive environments, but I don’t have experience with creating them. Do you have resources or tutorials you can recommend for creating these from scratch? I’ve seen the sample projects and videos, but they usually start in the middle, assuming you already have the assets created.

Crash when Displaying RealityView on Multiple Screen only Connecting with Xcode
I have an iOS app that uses RealityView to display some models and interact with them, and the app uses regular iOS app navigations, then a challenge I'm facing is how to maintain multiple RealityView on multiplescreens. For example Screen A has a RealityView, and then I navigate to Screen B (also has a RealityView) using stack based navigation, when I do so I got a crash -[MTLDebugRenderCommandEncoder validateCommonDrawErrors:]:5970: failed assertion `Draw Errors Validation Fragment Function(fsRealityPbr): argument envProbeTable[0] from Buffer(7) with offset(0) and length(16) has space for 16 bytes, but argument has a length(864). Fragment Function(fsRealityPbr): incorrect type of texture (MTLTextureType2D) bound at Texture binding at index 20 (expect MTLTextureTypeCubeArray) for envProbeDiffuseArray[0]. Interestingly this crash only happens when debugging with Xcode, not happens when the app runs on its own. I'm not sure what I'm doing is anti-pattern or it's some Xcode debugging limitation.

Problem with roomplan when I run from Xcode
When I run my app from Xcode on a device running iOS 26, the roomplan capture is corrupted and the recording is green and purple. This issue does not occur when I use an older version of iOS or when I run the app via testFlight or the App Store.
