Custom Material half visible..?
I'm currently implementing 180° / 360° immersive video for my app. I easily implemented 360° by just applying VideoMaterial to flipped sphere. But I'm stuck at 180°. I'm trying to implement by applying VideoMaterial to hemisphere (half sphere). I want to make VideoMaterial to be visible half front sphere and half back sphere transparent / clear. Would there be any advice / information / idea to implement this? Your help would be grateful.

RealityKit fullscreen layer
Hi! I'm currently trying to render another XR scene in front of a RealityKit one. Actually, I'm anchoring a plane to the head with a shader to display for left/right eye side-by-side images. By default, the camera has a near plane so I can directly draw at z=0. Is there a way to change the camera near plane? Or maybe there is a better solution to overlay image/texture for left/right eyes? Ideally, I would layer some kind of CompositorLayer on RealityKit, but that's sadly not possible from what I know. Request File Access from Unity for Apple Vision Pro
Hi, I am trying to load files from the Apple Vision Pro's storage into a Unity App (using Apple visionOS XR Plugin and not PolySpatial package). So far, I've tried using UnitySimpleFileBrowser and UnityStandaloneFileBrowser (both aren't made for the Vision Pro and don't work there), and then implemented my own naive file browser that at least allows me to view directories (that I can see from the App Sandbox). This is of course very limited: Gray folders can't be accessed, the only 3 available ones don't contain anything where a user would put files through the "Files" app. I know that an app can request access to these "Files & Folders": So my question is: Is there a way to request this access for a Unity-built app at the moment? If yes, what do I need to do? I've looked into the generated Xcode project's "Capabilities", but did not find anything related to file access. Any help is appreciated!

VisionOS26 PresentationComponent not working

I built apple.PHASE with Unity and targeted with visionOS, but Reverb does not sound.
Environment Versions ・macOS15.6.1 ・visionOS26.0.1 ・Xcode16.1 or 26.0.1 ・unity6000.2.9f1 ・Apple.core3.2.0 ・Apple.PHASE1.2.7 ・polyspatial2.4.2 With the above environment, after installing Apple.PHASE into unity and building to a visionOS device, Audio is available and distance attention works, but Early Reflection and Late Reverb produce no audible change even when checked and their parameters are adjusted. What is required to make Early Reflection and Late Reverb take effect on a visionOS device build? action taken ・created a SoundEvent. ・in composer, created a Sampler and a SpatialMixer; attached an AudioClip to the Sampler; enabled Direct Path, Early Reflection, and Late Reverb on the SpatialMixer. ・attached a PHASE Source to the object to be played, attached the created SoundEvent to it, and set non-zero values for Early Reflection and Late Reverb. ・attached a PHASE Listener to the mainCamera and set the ReverbPreset to a value other than None. ・in project settings > Audio, set Spatializer plugin to PHASE Spatializer. ・from there, build for visionOS.

CustomMaterial disable unlit tone mapping
Hi, since iOS 18 UnlitMaterial and ShaderGraphMaterial have the option to disable tone mapping, e.g via https://developer.apple.com/documentation/realitykit/unlitmaterial/init(applypostprocesstonemap:) Is it possible to do the same for CustomMaterial? I tried initializing a CustomMaterial based on an UnlitMaterial where tone mapping is disabled, like so: let unlitMat = UnlitMaterial(applyPostProcessToneMap: false) let customMaterial = try CustomMaterial( from: unlitMat, surfaceShader: surfaceShader, geometryModifier: geometryModifier ) but that does not seem to work. The colors of my texture still look altered in comparison to a plain UnlitMaterial or a ShaderGraphMaterial where its disabled. Any hints? Thank you!

Manipulation stops working when changing rooms
This post documents an issue I reported in feedback FB19610114 and see if anyone knows of a workaround. Here is a copy of the feedback. Short version Manipulation (SwiftUI OR RealityKit) fails to translate entities after changing rooms. By changing rooms, I mean a human wearing an Apple Vision Pro leaving one room and entering another room. Once this issue occurs, it impacts all apps that use these features. A device restart is the only solution I have to fix it. Feedback FB19610114 This is an odd one. I'm using the new Manipulation Component in visionOS 26. Most of the time this works well. Sometime it stops working and when it does the only way to get it working again is to reboot the headset. When this happens, I can continue to rotate and scale items, but translation no longer works. It is as if the item is stuck to a fixed point in the parent scene (window, volume, etc). When this bug occurs, it affects every app across the entire operating system that is using manipulation, including the RealityKit component AND the SwiftUI version. This is not limited to one app and is not limited to apps that I am working on. Once this error occurs, it affects literally any application across the operating system that is using this API, including apps from Apple. I won't speculate on the cause of this, but I do know of one way where I can always get it to happen. Here is how to reproduce it: Make an Xcode project with a single entity that uses the Manipulation Component. There is no need to customize the configuration of this component. The default implementation will work. Build and run this app on device. You can keep running from device or quit and launch the app like normal on device. Open the app and manipulate the entity - it should work as expected. Physically walk into another room. It is vital that you leave the current room that you are in and enter a different room entirely. Use the digital crown to recenter your view and bring your window or volume to you. Test the manipulation on the entity again - it should still be working as expected at this point. Physically, move yourself and your headset into the original room where you started. Use the digital crown to recenter your view and bring your window or volume to you. Test the manipulation on the entity again - you should now see the issue. When I follow the steps above, then 100% of the time manipulation translation stops working at this point. It will impact any application using this API. The only way to fix it is to restart my headset. A few points to keep in mind It does not matter if an app is actively being run from Xcode. When this occurs, it impacts every single app, not just one. When this occurs, rotation and scaling continue to work, but the entity/view cannot be translated. This impacts BOTH the SwiftUI version and the RealityKit version. When this occurs, the only way to "fix" it is to reboot the device.

Please provide access to face tracking blendshapes on vision os
Apple, please provide access to face tracking blend shapes on vision os, just like you do on iOS. You have the best eye and face tracking implementation on the market, please let us use it. There is a sizable audience who will buy the headset just for it. I personally know multiple people who are not buying the headset simply because you locked those features out. No raw camera access is needed, just abstracted blendshapes values. You will make the headset so much more useful if you do this simple thing.

HoverEffectStyle in visionOS 26.0
This is no longer highlighting my entity when looking at it: RealityView { content let hoverComponent = HoverEffectComponent(.spotlight( HoverEffectComponent.SpotlightHoverEffectStyle( color: .white, strength: 2.0 ) )) entity.components.set(hoverComponent) The entity is in a window. The same code works in an immersive view. Collision Component and Input type are set in RCP. It's also stopped working on my published app (built under visionOS 2.x) using my visionOS 26 device. If I use a 2.x simulator, it works. Is this a bug or is there something I'm missing? Thanks.

How do we use the new Unified Coordinate Conversion features in visionOS 26?
The landing page for visionOS 26 mentions The Unified Coordinate Conversion API makes moving views and entities between scenes straightforward — even between views and ARKit accessory anchors. This WWDC session very briefly shows a single example of using this, but with no context. For example, they discuss a way to tell the distance between a Model3D and an entity in a RealityView. But they don't provide any details for how they are referencing the entity (bolts in the slide). The session used the BOT-anist example project that we saw in visionOS 2, but the version on in the Sample Code library has not been updated with these examples. I was able to put together a simple example where we can get the position of a window relative to the world origin. What other features are included in this new Unified Coordinate Conversion? Can we use this to get the position of one window relative to another? Can we use this to get the position of a view in a window relative to an entity in a RealityView, for example in a Volume or Immersive Space? What else can Unified Coordinate Conversion do? Are there documentation pages that I'm missing? I'm not sure what to search for. Are there any Sample projects that use these features? Any additional information would be very helpful.

new algorithm significantly improves PhotogrammetrySession?
I noticed in the latest macOS beta 3 that there was this update: A new algorithm significantly improves PhotogrammetrySession reconstruction quality of low-texture objects not captured with the ObjectCaptureSession front end. It will be downloaded and cached once in the background when the PhotogrammetrySession is used at runtime. If network isn’t available at that time, the old low quality model will be used until the new one can be downloaded. There is no code change needed to get this improved model. (145220451) I am not noticing any difference to before with the reconstructions I tested so I am assuming it's reverting to the old model but in the logs there is no way to see if it succeeds or fails to download that new model. do you have any more information on what was improved here with some examples and what we should be looking for? also how can confirm the download of that new model has not failed?

Performance drop when particle emitter is combined with video play
Hi All, We're a studio building an app and as part of a scene we have a 3D asset with a smoke particle emitter and a curved mesh that plays video. I notice that when the video alone is played or the particle effect alone is done then the scene works fine but the frame rate drops drastically when both are turned on. How do I solve this because this is an important storytelling feature.

Game Controller Input Limitations in visionOS Volumetric Windows - Need Clarification
Game Controller Input Limitations in visionOS Volumetric Windows Hello Apple Developer Community, I'm developing a game for visionOS and have encountered significant limitations with game controller input when using volumetric windows (WindowGroup with .volumetric style). I'd appreciate clarification on whether this is expected behavior and any guidance on best practices. 🧩 Issue Summary When using a DualSense controller with a volumetric window in visionOS, only a subset of controller inputs are available to the app. The remaining inputs appear to be reserved by the system for UI navigation. ✅ Working Inputs (Volumetric Window) D-Pad (all directions) L3 (left thumbstick button click) R3 (right thumbstick button click) Menu button Options button ❌ Not Working Inputs (Volumetric Window) Left thumbstick analog movement (used for UI scrolling instead) Right thumbstick analog movement (used for UI scrolling instead) Face buttons (Cross, Circle, Square, Triangle / A, B, X, Y) Shoulder buttons (L1, R1) Triggers (L2, R2) Key observation: When moving the left thumbstick in a volumetric window, the window's UI scrolls vertically instead of sending input to my app's GameController handlers. Similarly, face buttons seem to be reserved for system UI interactions. ⚙️ Implementation Details I'm using the standard GameController framework: Connect to controller via GCController.controllers() Access extendedGamepad profile Set up valueChangedHandler and pressedChangedHandler for all inputs Handlers confirmed registered via logging Working inputs (D-Pad, L3, R3) trigger immediately and consistently Non-working inputs (thumbsticks, face buttons) never trigger 🧠 Critical Finding: ImmersiveSpace Works Perfectly When testing the exact same code in an ImmersiveSpace (.mixed immersion style), all controller inputs work perfectly: ✅ Both thumbsticks provide full analog input ✅ All face buttons trigger their handlers ✅ All shoulder buttons and triggers work correctly ✅ 100% success rate with no intermittent issues This suggests the issue isn't with my code, but rather how visionOS handles controller input differently between Volumetric Windows and ImmersiveSpace. 🧪 Test Environment I created a minimal test project (Controller-Playground) to isolate the issue: A simple ControllerTester class that registers all GameController handlers A visual UI showing real-time input state No game logic, RealityKit physics, or other complexity Results In volumetric window: Only D-Pad, L3, R3, Menu, Options work In ImmersiveSpace: All inputs work perfectly This confirms the limitation exists at the visionOS platform level, not in app code. 🧰 Attempted Workarounds I tried the following without success: Setting GCSupportsControllerUserInteraction = false in Info.plist Setting UIRequiresFullScreen = true Changing window styles (.plain, .volumetric) Polling vs. handler-based input approaches Various threading models (MainActor, separate thread) Result: The only way to enable full controller support is to switch to ImmersiveSpace. ❓ Questions for Apple Is this input reservation behavior in volumetric windows intended and documented? Are there any APIs or configuration options to disable system controller shortcuts in volumetric windows? 🎯 Impact This limitation has a significant effect on game design and architecture: Volumetric windows offer a multitasking-friendly, less immersive experience ImmersiveSpace provides full controller support but may be more immersive than some games require Games that only need basic D-Pad and button input can work fine in volumetric windows Games requiring analog sticks or face buttons must currently use ImmersiveSpace It would be very helpful if Apple could clarify or reference existing documentation regarding controller input handling in different visionOS window types. If such documentation doesn't exist yet, it might be valuable to include this information in future developer guides or best-practice documents. 🕹 Current Workaround For now, I'm using: D-Pad for character movement (digital 8-direction) R3 (right stick click) as a substitute for the "X" button This setup allows the game to function within a volumetric window, though full controller support still requires ImmersiveSpace. 📄 Request If this is expected behavior, I may have simply missed the relevant documentation — could you please point me to any existing resources that explain this design? Pinning a pushed window to a wall breaks pushWindow for all other apps on the system
I posted https://developer.apple.com/forums/thread/809481 yesterday about an issue I discovered with pushWindow in visionOS 26.2 RC, but today I discovered a second problem with pushWindow. If window A calls pushWindow to present window B, and the user pins window B to a wall, the following unexpected behaviors are observed: Window B spontaneously disappears. If the user re-launches the (still running) app from the visionOS home view, both window A and window B appear simultaneously. I assume only window B should be visible at this point, since window A pushed window B. If the user closes window B, it's now impossible to present window B again. Calls to pushWindow appear to be ignored. If the user force-quits the app and relaunches it, and pushWindow is called again, window B appears, but window A remains visible. I also noticed this surprising behavior: This broken state of pushWindow behavior now affects all other apps on the system that may call pushWindow in the future, not just the app whose pushed window was pinned above. A workaround is to reboot the device, and then the system will behave as expected until the next time the user pins a pushed window.

Accessing LiDAR Depth Data and Scene Reconstruction on Apple Vision Pro
Hello, I'm developing a visionOS application for Apple Vision Pro that aims to scan unknown physical objects, capture their 3D data (such as meshes or point clouds), and export them as 3D models. Ideally, I'd also like to visualize these reconstructions in real-time within the headset. This functionality is similar to what's available in Reality Composer on iPad and iPhone, but I'm seeking to implement it natively on Vision Pro. I've reviewed the visionOS documentation but haven't found clear guidance on accessing LiDAR depth data or performing scene reconstruction. Specifically, I'm interested in: 1.Accessing LiDAR or depth data from Vision Pro's sensors. 2.Utilizing ARKit's scene reconstruction capabilities on visionOS. 3.Exporting captured 3D data as models (e.g., USDZ or OBJ formats). Are there APIs or frameworks in visionOS that support these features?

Does RealityKit support mesh based animation?
I have a mesh based animation 3D model, that means every frame it’s a new mesh. I import it into RealityView, but can’t play it‘s animation, RealityKit tells me this model has no animations by using print(entity.availableAnimations).

Here is how to reproduce it: Make an Xcode project with a single entity that uses the Manipulation Component. There is no need to customize the configuration of this component. The default implementation will work. Build and run this app on device. You can keep running from device or quit and launch the app like normal on device. Open the app and manipulate the entity - it should work as expected. Physically walk into another room. It is vital that you leave the current room that you are in and enter a different room entirely. Use the digital crown to recenter your view and bring your window or volume to you. Test the manipulation on the entity again - it should still be working as expected at this point. Physically, move yourself and your headset into the original room where you started. Use the digital crown to recenter your view and bring your window or volume to you. Test the manipulation on the entity again - you should now see the issue. When I follow the steps above, then 100% of the time manipulation translation stops working at this point. It will impact any application using this API. The only way to fix it is to restart my headset. A few points to keep in mind It does not matter if an app is actively being run from Xcode. When this occurs, it impacts every single app, not just one. When this occurs, rotation and scaling continue to work, but the entity/view cannot be translated. This impacts BOTH the SwiftUI version and the RealityKit version. When this occurs, the only way to "fix" it is to reboot the device.

Apple, please provide access to face tracking blend shapes on vision os, just like you do on iOS. You have the best eye and face tracking implementation on the market, please let us use it. There is a sizable audience who will buy the headset just for it. I personally know multiple people who are not buying the headset simply because you locked those features out. No raw camera access is needed, just abstracted blendshapes values. You will make the headset so much more useful if you do this simple thing.

HoverEffectStyle in visionOS 26.0
This is no longer highlighting my entity when looking at it: RealityView { content let hoverComponent = HoverEffectComponent(.spotlight( HoverEffectComponent.SpotlightHoverEffectStyle( color: .white, strength: 2.0 ) )) entity.components.set(hoverComponent) The entity is in a window. The same code works in an immersive view. Collision Component and Input type are set in RCP. It's also stopped working on my published app (built under visionOS 2.x) using my visionOS 26 device. If I use a 2.x simulator, it works. Is this a bug or is there something I'm missing? Thanks.

How do we use the new Unified Coordinate Conversion features in visionOS 26?
The landing page for visionOS 26 mentions The Unified Coordinate Conversion API makes moving views and entities between scenes straightforward — even between views and ARKit accessory anchors. This WWDC session very briefly shows a single example of using this, but with no context. For example, they discuss a way to tell the distance between a Model3D and an entity in a RealityView. But they don't provide any details for how they are referencing the entity (bolts in the slide). The session used the BOT-anist example project that we saw in visionOS 2, but the version on in the Sample Code library has not been updated with these examples. I was able to put together a simple example where we can get the position of a window relative to the world origin. Are there documentation pages that I'm missing? I'm not sure what to search for. Are there any Sample projects that use these features? Any additional information would be very helpful.

new algorithm significantly improves PhotogrammetrySession?
I noticed in the latest macOS beta 3 that there was this update: A new algorithm significantly improves PhotogrammetrySession reconstruction quality of low-texture objects not captured with the ObjectCaptureSession front end. It will be downloaded and cached once in the background when the PhotogrammetrySession is used at runtime. If network isn’t available at that time, the old low quality model will be used until the new one can be downloaded. There is no code change needed to get this improved model. (145220451) I am not noticing any difference to before with the reconstructions I tested so I am assuming it's reverting to the old model but in the logs there is no way to see if it succeeds or fails to download that new model. do you have any more information on what was improved here with some examples and what we should be looking for? also how can confirm the download of that new model has not failed?

Performance drop when particle emitter is combined with video play
Hi All, We're a studio building an app and as part of a scene we have a 3D asset with a smoke particle emitter and a curved mesh that plays video. I notice that when the video alone is played or the particle effect alone is done then the scene works fine but the frame rate drops drastically when both are turned on. How do I solve this because this is an important storytelling feature.

Pinning a pushed window to a wall breaks pushWindow for all other apps on the system
I posted https://developer.apple.com/forums/thread/809481 yesterday about an issue I discovered with pushWindow in visionOS 26.2 RC, but today I discovered a second problem with pushWindow. If window A calls pushWindow to present window B, and the user pins window B to a wall, the following unexpected behaviors are observed: Window B spontaneously disappears. If the user re-launches the (still running) app from the visionOS home view, both window A and window B appear simultaneously. I assume only window B should be visible at this point, since window A pushed window B. If the user closes window B, it's now impossible to present window B again. Calls to pushWindow appear to be ignored. If the user force-quits the app and relaunches it, and pushWindow is called again, window B appears, but window A remains visible. I also noticed this surprising behavior: This broken state of pushWindow behavior now affects all other apps on the system that may call pushWindow in the future, not just the app whose pushed window was pinned above. A workaround is to reboot the device, and then the system will behave as expected until the next time the user pins a pushed window.
