But if we place two hands on top of the screen and move a bit, all click events are not working anymore. It works again if we call loadFileURL again. We filled a bug report: FB19812304

I have a UI application built with the Vue framework, using Vuetify for the UI components. There's a div with the class v-application--wrap, which is provided by Vuetify. I’ve been working on a personal iOS project for fun — essentially a YouTube music player, learning how background media playback works in native iOS apps. After seeing that Musi (a famous music streaming app) can play YouTube audio in the background with the screen off — I got really curious. I’ve been trying to replicate that basic background audio functionality for YouTube embeds using WKWebView. I've spent a crazy amount of time (probably 20 hours) trying to figure this out but have achieved no success. Here’s what I’ve tried so far: -Embedding a YouTube video in a WKWebView -Activating AVAudioSession with .playback and setting .setActive(true) -Adding the UIBackgroundModes key with audio in Info.plist -Adding the NSAppTransportSecurity key to allow arbitrary loads --Testing on a real device (iPhone 14, iOS 18.1 target)-- What happens: Audio plays fine in the foreground. If I exit the app and go to the lock screen quickly enough (less than 3 seconds) after pressing play, I can resume playback briefly from the lock screen — but it doesn’t automatically continue like in Musi and other apps like it. Most of the time, the audio stops when the app is backgrounded. Safari Extension Error: “Non-persistent background content cannot listen to webRequest events.” after macOS 15.4 / Safari 18.4 Update We’re seeing the following error in the Safari Extensions tab after updating to macOS 15.4 and Safari 18.4: “Non-persistent background content cannot listen to webRequest events.” This error did not appear prior to the update, and we haven’t found any official documentation stating that webRequest API is no longer supported in Safari. In our extension (Manifest V3), we are using the webRequest.onHeadersReceived callback to intercept response headers and read updated cookies. While the functionality itself still works as expected. we’re able to access the response headers and this error is now shown in the Extension settings page. We are not seeing this issue in other browsers (Chrome, Firefox) using the same Manifest V3 setup. Is there any plan to deprecate webRequest support in Manifest V3 for Safari? We’d appreciate any clarification or guidance on how to handle this going forward.

Recently the points on the map began missing the text in the boxes only on Apple devices that have been upgraded to iOS 18. Has anyone also had this happen to their site? If you have upgraded to iOS 18, try this site on your iPhone then look at it on an Android phone or your desktop browser. You should seet the values in the boxes and a "+" at points that have no value. If you've had this happen with your site or have heard of a fix, please reply to this post.

Specifically, when users type into an field, event.target.value is always an empty string — but only when the JS file is loaded from a specific domain (e.g., t1.daumcdn.net). As the title suggests, given today’s overpowered device performance, shouldn’t Safari and WKWebView allow repainting during window resizing? Currently, all WKWebView-based apps pause page rendering during resize. When a user double-clicks the drag region, the sequence goes: pause rendering → enlarge or shrink the window → leave a blank area → repaint the page. The whole process feels inelegant—especially on devices that support ProMotion.

Our app is an enterprise app via MDM. We are experiencing an issue in iPadOS 18.4 when loading an internal HTTPS server via WKWebView in a hybrid iOS app. Our server uses a self-signed certificate but lacks the digitalSignature usage in its Key Usage extension. (Currently we have no chance to change the server's certificate) We override webView:didReceiveAuthenticationChallenge:completionHandler: to trust the certificate: completionHandler(NSURLSessionAuthChallengeUseCredential, credential); This "completionHandler" works in previous 18.3.2 , but not work in 18.4. May I know is there any changes in 18.4 for the https certification? Why this delegate not work? What we can do to ignore this ssl error and get connection? We have a Smart App Banner (including App Clip) on our website and have noticed today that the banner's background color has changed. It no longer has the default white background and blue button color, instead it has a background color that matches our page's background, and even the color of the button has changed. What's interesting is that we have not triggered this change at all. The colors seemingly changed by themselves. Looking at the Apple Documentation, no customization options are mentioned. Searching the web, the theme-color meta tag is mentioned in relation to this, however we haven't even included that tag on our page. What is triggering this color change then and how can we influence it?

What I'm finding in iOS 26 (might even effect older versions) is that when using the webcontent api within Managed settings as the following: store.webContent.blockedByFilter = .specific(domains) It doesn't work on Safari, but does work on third party applications like chrome, firefox, etc. But when using the all and exception enum like the following store.webContent.blockedByFilter = .all(except: domains) This does work on Safari This is pretty inconsistent behavior of the API and should be fixed to match the documentation. I can confirm there is actual constant traffic from the server based on my server logs. I am running iOS/macOS 26.

I build websites and my current build has seven videos on the first page built with the html 'video' tag. The page renders on all browsers and Android and on Safari on my mac but on my iPhone safari they appear black and then play correctly when clicked. This has changed since the last update.

Hi, I’m trying to detect whether my Safari Web Extension is running in Safari or Safari Technology Preview. Is there a reliable way to do that? I can get the executable path of the parent process using proc_pidpath(). However, unlike Chrome or Firefox, Safari extensions run under /sbin/launchd as the parent process, not the responsible process (browser’s binary). In this scenario, I need the executable path of the actual browser process, but I haven’t found a way to get it. Also, Safari doesn’t implement the Web Extension API’s browser.runtime.getBrowserInfo(), unlike Firefox. I haven’t tested it yet, but I’m considering checking the user agent string, though I’m not sure how reliable that would be. Use Case Some users use my Safari extension as a web development tool and want to enable some features exclusively in Safari Technology Preview, while using other features only in standard Safari. If I could detect which browser is in use, I could provide the appropriate functionality for them.
