I have implemented the Game Center for authentication and saving player's game data. Both authentication and saving player's data works correctly all the time, but there is a problem with fetching and loading the data.
The game works like this:
At the startup, I start the authentication
After the player successfully logs in, I start loading the player's data by calling fetchSavedGames method
If a game data exists for the player, I receive a list of SavedGame object containing the player's data
The problem is that after I uninstall the game and install it again, sometimes the SavedGame list is empty(step 3). But if I don't uninstall the game and reopen the game, this process works fine.
Here's the complete code of Game Center implementation:
class GameCenterHandler {
public func signIn() {
GKLocalPlayer.local.authenticateHandler = { viewController, error in
if let viewController = viewController {
viewController.present(viewController, animated: false)
return
}
if error != nil {
// Player could not be authenticated.
// Disable Game Center in the game.
return
}
// Auth successfull
self.load(filename: "TestFileName")
}
}
public func save(filename: String, data: String) {
if GKLocalPlayer.local.isAuthenticated {
GKLocalPlayer.local.saveGameData(Data(data.utf8), withName: filename) { savedGame, error in
if savedGame != nil {
// Data saved successfully
}
if error != nil {
// Error in saving game data!
}
}
} else {
// Error in saving game data! User is not authenticated"
}
}
public func load(filename: String) {
if GKLocalPlayer.local.isAuthenticated {
GKLocalPlayer.local.fetchSavedGames { games, error in
if let game = games?.first(where: {$0.name == filename}){
game.loadData { data, error in
if data != nil {
// Data loaded successfully
}
if error != nil {
// Error in loading game data!
}
}
} else {
// Error in loading game data! Filename not found
}
}
} else {
// Error in loading game data! User is not authenticated
}
}
}
I have also added Game Center and iCloud capabilities in xcode. Also in the iCloud section, I selected the iCloud Documents and added a container.
I found a simillar question here but it doesn't make things clearer.

Hi,
I am exploring Closures and trying to understand how they works. Closure have a special key feature that they can capture the context of the variables/constants from surroundings, once captured we can still use them inside the closure even if the scope in which they are defined does not exist.
I want to understand the lifecycle of captured variable/constant i.e., where are these captured variables stored and when these get created and destroyed.
How is memory managed for captured variables or constants in a closure, depending on whether they are value types or reference types?

Hello,
I am getting an error message "Cannot convert value of type 'URLSessionDataTask' to expected argument type 'Data'" for the last line of this code. Please can you tell me what the problem is? Thank you
struct Item : Codable {

var dlastupd: String
var doverallrecsit: String

Hello, I am a software engineer student and I have recently been getting problems on my Mac regarding the C/C++ libraries. I have used my macbook for uni work for months, but around 3 or 4 months ago my macbook could not compile my work since it couldnt find the basic libraries I was using. For example, iostream. I have been using VSCode, and what it exactly says is "cannot open source file "iostream". Please run the 'Select IntelliSense Configuration...' command to locate your system headers." I have tried researching, changing the include path, even using chatgpt, and nothing. Is anyone having this same problem, or is able to help me? If any other information is needed, please let me know!

Hello
I want to implement customisation to swift argumentparser, Here are following changes want to do it in my cli
changing default footer present in help command output
currently help command output coming like this
OVERVIEW: clisample
USAGE: clisample <subcommand>
OPTIONS:
--version show the version.
-h, --help show the help.
SUBCOMMANDS:
logs (default) Export logs for clisample processes.
See 'clisample --help' for more information.'
so instead of
See 'clisample --help' for more information.'
I want my own string
For more details, run 'clisample help <subcommand>'
customise error string getting from validation error
Error: Missing value for '-t <time>'
Help: -t <time> Time window (e.g. 10h, 30m, 2d).
Usage: clisample logs --time <time>
See 'clisample logs --help' for more information.
so I want error output with example and customised footer, like this
Error: Missing value for '-t <time>'
Help: -t <time> Time window (e.g. 10h, 30m, 2d).
Usage: clisample logs --time <time>
Example: clisample logs -t 5m
For more details, run 'clisample help <subcommand>'
Is this changes possible from anyway?

Hello!
Can you tell me why UIImageWriteToSavedPhotosAlbum stopped working on Mac Catalyst?
This method used to save photos to the library. Now I get an error when trying to save with the same code that previously worked.
error NSError domain: "ALAssetsLibraryErrorDomain" - code: -1 0x0000000cb00b4810
Is anyone have this problem on xcode 26 ?

I noticed that when I enter the fully immersive view and then click the X button below the window, the immersive space remains active, and the only way to dismiss it is to click the digital crown. On other apps (Disney+ for example), closing out of the main window while in immersive mode also closes out the immersive space. I tried applying an onDisappear modifier to the the Modules view with a dismissImmersiveSpace, but that doesn't appear to do anything.
Any help would be appreciated.
Hi, I've got this view model that will do a search using a database of keywords. It worked fine when the SearchEngine wasn't an actor but a regular class and the SearchResult wasn't a Sendable. But when I changed them, it returned Type of expression is ambiguous without a type annotation error at line 21 ( searchTask = Task {). What did I do wrong here? Thanks.
protocol SearchableEngine: Actor {
func searchOrSuggest(from query: String) -> SearchResult?
func setValidTitles(_ validTitles: [String])

So...
THE FUNCTION:
This function is called when changes are made that will affect the correct output of getCurrentClass. It is intended to reload the views and the current/next variables to reflect those changes.\
//GHub: 'Timetaber Watch App/StorageManager.swift'
func reload() -> Void {
@ObservedObject var globalData: GlobalData //this line is erroring, I don't know how to fix it. Is this even the best/proper way to do this?
let courseData = getCurrentClass(date: .now)
globalData.currentCourse = courseData[0]
globalData.nextCourse = courseData[1]
//Variable '_globalData' used by function definition before being initialized
//that is the error appearing on those above two redefinitions.
print("Setup done\n")
}
Thanks!

Hello,
I asked this question on 9th March but was asked to provide a project file and can't edit the original post. Please find the original question below and please find the new test project file at https://we.tl/t-fqAu8FrgUw.
I have a json array showing in Xcode debugger (from the line "print(dataString)"):
Optional("[{\"id\":\"8e8tcssu4u2hn7a71tkveahjhn8xghqcfkwf1bzvtrw5nu0b89w\",\"name\":\"Test name 0\",\"country\":\"Test country 0\",\"type\":\"Test type 0\",\"situation\":\"Test situation 0\",\"timestamp\":\"1546848000\"},{\"id\":\"z69718a1a5z2y5czkwrhr1u37h7h768v05qr3pf1h4r4yrt5a68\",\"name\":\"Test name 1\",\"country\":\"Test country 1\",\"type\":\"Test type 1\",\"situation\":\"Test situation 1\",\"timestamp\":\"1741351615\"},{\"id\":\"fh974sv586nhyysbhg5nak444968h7hgcgh6yw0usbvcz9b0h69\",\"name\":\"Test name 2\",\"country\":\"Test country 2\",\"type\":\"Test type 2\",\"situation\":\"Test situation 2\",\"timestamp\":\"1741351603\"},{\"id\":\"347272052385993\",\"name\":\"Test name 3\",\"country\":\"Test country 3\",\"type\":\"Test type 3\",\"situation\":\"Test situation 3\",\"timestamp\":\"1741351557\"}]")
But my JSON decoder is throwing the catch error "Error in JSON parsing"
This is the code:
let urlString = "https://www.notafunnyname.com/jsonmockup.php"
let url = URL(string: urlString)
guard url != nil else {
return
}
let session = URLSession.shared
let dataTask = session.dataTask(with: url!) { (data, response, error) in
var dataString = String(data: data!, encoding: String.Encoding.utf8)
print(dataString)
if error == nil && data != nil {
// Parse JSON
let decoder = JSONDecoder()
do {
let newsFeed = try decoder.decode(NewsFeed.self, from: data!)
print(newsFeed)
print(error)
}
catch{
print("Error in JSON parsing")
}
}
}
// Make the API Call
dataTask.resume()
}
And this is my Codable file NewsFeed.swift:
struct NewsFeed: Codable {
var id: String
var name: String
var country: String
var type: String
var overallrecsit: String
var dlastupd: String
var doverallrecsit: String
}
Please do you know why the parsing may be failing? Is it significant that in the debugging window the JSON is displaying backslashes before the quotation marks?
Thank you for any pointers :-)

When i am trying to archive a framework for ML, using below command:

Hi There,
I have been using my Mac Studio to complete some work in Python (which I normally do in Linux) and recently I got this error which has completely stopped all development as venvs will no longer work correctly:
WARNING: Ignoring invalid distribution ... (and then whichever apps are currently installed in the venv
This occurs for me on every install of any version of Python installed using any of the standard methods (installer). I've tried all the main points of advice on knowledgeable forums, but the difference between Python on Sequoia and Python on Linux is enough such that I am at an end of my debugging knowledge. I've even attempted to blast away any System Python changes with a recovery reinstall, but the problem persists. I've done almost exactly the same setup on my MacBook Air and it is fine ... but the Studio is now unavailable for Python development.
I know I have probably dropped the ball somewhere but can't see the error myself so, I'm wondering if I should just blast away everything on the machine and go through the process of doing a clean install. Asking the experts in MacOS here so I can avoid the pain of doing that!

I can't find any simple c++ xcodeproj call to swift struct using modern c++ swift mix. there is the fibonacci example that is swift app call to c++.
Base on fibonacci example I create new simple project and fail to build it with error when I try to include #include <SwiftMixTester/SwiftMixTester-Swift.h>
What is wrong?
Is it the right place to ask this?
Any work project link?

Hello,
For the below code please can you tell me why the test code print("line 64") is being printed after the test code print("line 84") ? (i.e. how do I stop that happening?)
I would like the program to wait until the results array has been parsed before continuing the code (otherwise it does not have content to present).
I'm a bit confused why this is happening because I haven't written "async" anywhere.
