Slow compilation
Hi, I am working with a large project. We are compiling each material to its own .metallib. They all include many common files full of inline functions. Finally we link it all together at the end with a single big pathtrace kernel. Everything works as expected, however the compile times have gotten completely out of hand and it takes multiple minutes to compile at runtime (to native code). I have gathered that I can do this offline by using metal-tt however if I am wondering if there is a way to reduce the compile times in such a scenario, and how to investigate what the root cause of the problem is. I suspect it could have to do with the fact that every materials metallib contains duplications of all the inline functions. Any ideas on how to profile and debug this? Thanks, Rasmus

Game Center leaderboards not posting scores
My app is live but the leaderboards still aren’t updating. App was built with unreal engine 5 with blueprints. I have the leaderboard stat info entered into the node for write integer to leaderboard and a node for show platform specific leaderboard. The leaderboards are shown as live on app connect. When I run the app, the Game Center login functions and the leaderboard interface launches as expected but it just lists a group of friends to invite. There are no scores listed and it says number of players 0 even though I have scored on two different devices and accounts. I have the Game Center entitlement added in Xcode. Not sure where else to look.

Hover effects w/ Compositor Services w/ PSVR2 controllers
Hi, I would like clarification on whether the new hover effects feature introduced in vision os 26 supported pinch gestures through the psvr 2 controllers. In your sample application, I was not able to confirm that this was working. Only pinch clicking with my hands worked. Pulling the trigger on the controller whilst looking at a 3d object did not activate the hover effect spatial event in the sample application. (The object is showing the highlight though) This is inconsistent with hover effect behavior with psvr2 controllers on swift ui views, where the trigger press does count as a button click. The sample I used was this one: https://developer.apple.com/documentation/compositorservices/rendering_hover_effects_in_metal_immersive_apps

Regression: RealityKit spatial audio crackles and pops on iOS 26.0 beta 5 (FB19423059)
RealityKit spatial audio crackles and pops on iOS 26.0 beta 5. It works correctly on iOS 18.6 and visionOS 26.0 beta 5. The APIs used are AudioPlaybackController, Entity.prepareAudio, Entity.play Videos of the expected and observed behavior are attached to the feedback FB19423059. The audio should be a consistent, repeating sound, but it seems oddly abbreviated and the volume varies unexpectedly. Thank you for investigating this issue.

iOS Matchmaker ViewController Info Button
I'm updating an existing distributed game to add turn-based matches. When the Matchmaker ViewController Info Button next to a game is pressed, the results vary: iOS 15.x - Button under avatar says "Accept Invite" or "View Game" (depending on if invite has already been accepted) iOS 18.x - Button always says "App Store" - I assume that means it would lead one to the App store to install the game. Both devices (iPad 15.x and iPhone 18.x) have the same version of the game installed. The results are the same when running in the simulator. When the game is released, I assume this button will work properly, no?

iOS Simulator can only render 1 RealityView
I'm using RealityView in my iOS game mxied with SwiftUI. For the following 2 example usages, the simulator will only render the first RealityView, and the second one is either super laggy or show a black model. Running on the real device is all good, just simualtor has this issue. Have a TabView and each tab has a RealityView. Have a root view and detail view connected via a push navigation, both root and detail have a RealityView. In the Simulator, the second RealityView is going to be very choppy and basically unusable, but on a real iPhone everything looks great. Is this a known simulator issue or I did something bad?

Custom EntityAction - different behaviour VisionOS 2.6 vs 26
I implemented an EntityAction to change the baseColor tint - and had it working on VisionOS 2.x. import RealityKit import UIKit typealias Float4 = SIMD4<Float> extension UIColor { var float4: Float4 { if cgColor.numberOfComponents == 4, let c = cgColor.components { Float4(Float(c[0]), Float(c[1]), Float(c[2]), Float(c[3])) } else { Float4() } } } struct ColourAction: EntityAction { // MARK: - PUBLIC PROPERTIES let startColour: Float4 let targetColour: Float4 // MARK: - PUBLIC COMPUTED PROPERTIES var animatedValueType: (any AnimatableData.Type)? { Float4.self } // MARK: - INITIATION init(startColour: UIColor, targetColour: UIColor) { self.startColour = startColour.float4 self.targetColour = targetColour.float4 } // MARK: - PUBLIC STATIC FUNCTIONS @MainActor static func registerEntityAction() { ColourAction.subscribe(to: .updated) { event in guard let animationState = event.animationState else { return } let interpolatedColour = event.action.startColour.mixedWith(event.action.targetColour, by: Float(animationState.normalizedTime)) animationState.storeAnimatedValue(interpolatedColour) } } } extension Entity { // MARK: - PUBLIC FUNCTIONS func changeColourTo(_ targetColour: UIColor, duration: Double) { guard let modelComponent = components[ModelComponent.self], let material = modelComponent.materials.first as? PhysicallyBasedMaterial else { return } let colourAction = ColourAction(startColour: material.baseColor.tint, targetColour: targetColour) if let colourAnimation = try? AnimationResource.makeActionAnimation(for: colourAction, duration: duration, bindTarget: .material(0).baseColorTint) { playAnimation(colourAnimation) } } } This doesn't work in VisionOS 26. My current fix is to directly set the material base colour - but this feels like the wrong approach: @MainActor static func registerEntityAction() { ColourAction.subscribe(to: .updated) { event in guard let animationState = event.animationState, let entity = event.targetEntity, let modelComponent = entity.components[ModelComponent.self], var material = modelComponent.materials.first as? PhysicallyBasedMaterial else { return } let interpolatedColour = event.action.startColour.mixedWith(event.action.targetColour, by: Float(animationState.normalizedTime)) material.baseColor.tint = UIColor(interpolatedColour) entity.components[ModelComponent.self]?.materials[0] = material animationState.storeAnimatedValue(interpolatedColour) } } So before I raise this as a bug, was I doing anything wrong in the former version and got lucky? Is there a better approach?

Bone deformation
I have been tasked with creating content for the Apple Vision Pro. Just the 3D content and animation, not the programming end of things. I can't seem to get any kind of mesh deformation animation to import into Reality Composer Pro. By that I mean bones/skin, or even point cache. I work on PC, and my main software is 3DS Max, but I'm borrowing an iMac for this job, and was instructed to use RCP on it for testing before handing things off to the programmer. My files open and play fine in other USD programs, like Omniverse, or USD View, just not Reality Composer Pro. I've seen the dinosaur demo in AVP, so I know mesh deformation is possible. If there are other essential tools that might make this possible, I have not been made aware of them. I am experimenting with bouncing things off of Blender, in case that exports better, but not really having luck there either -though my results are different. Thanks.

How to get accurate Mouse/Trackpad deltas on macOS when using CGWarpMouseCursorPosition?
I am working on a remote control application for macOS where I need to maintain two "virtual" cursors: Remote Cursor: Follows the remote user's movements. Local Cursor: Follows the local user's physical mouse/trackpad movements. To move the system cursor (for the remote side), I use CGWarpMouseCursorPosition as follows: void DualCursorMac::UpdateSystemCursorPosition(int x, int y) { CGPoint point = CGPointMake(static_cast<CGFloat>(x), static_cast<CGFloat>(y)); // Warp the cursor to match remote coordinates CGWarpMouseCursorPosition(point); } Meanwhile, I use a CGEventTap to monitor local physical movements to update my local virtual cursor's UI: CGEventRef Mouse::MouseTapCallback(CGEventTapProxy proxy, CGEventType type, CGEventRef event, void *refcon) { if (remoteControlMode) { // We want to suppress system cursor movement but still read the delta const int deltaX = static_cast<int>(CGEventGetIntegerValueField(event, kCGMouseEventDeltaX)); const int deltaY = static_cast<int>(CGEventGetIntegerValueField(event, kCGMouseEventDeltaY)); NSLog(@"MouseTapCallback: delta:(%d, %d)", deltaX, deltaY); // Update local virtual cursor UI based on deltas... return nullptr; // Consume the event } return event; } The Problem: When CGWarpMouseCursorPosition is called frequently to update the system cursor, it interferes with the kCGMouseEventDeltaX/Y values in the Event Tap. Specifically, if the local user moves the trackpad slowly (expecting deltas of 1 or 2), but a "Warp" occurs simultaneously (e.g., jumping the cursor from (100, 100) to (300, 300)), the deltaX and deltaY in the callback suddenly spike to very large values. It seems the system calculates the delta based on the new warped position rather than the pure physical displacement of the trackpad. This makes the local virtual cursor "jump" erratically and makes it impossible to track smooth local movement during remote control. My Question: Is there a way to get the "raw" or "pure" physical relative movement (delta) from the trackpad/mouse that is independent of the system cursor's absolute position or warping? Are there alternative APIs (perhaps IOKit or different CGEvent fields) that would allow me to get consistent deltas even when the cursor is being warped programmatically?

Metal HUD Logging issue
Hi I've noticed one issue in Metal HUD, but I'm not sure if it is a bug in the Metal HUD or if there is a purpose for this behavior. Metal HUD has an option to send the data to system log in raw format where the numbers are like metal-HUD: ,,,,,..., https://developer.apple.com/documentation/xcode/monitoring-your-metal-apps-graphics-performance/ If the HUD is displayed, it works just fine, but it seems that when the HUD is hidden (with shift-F9), it still send the data to system log, but the numbers are the same all the time and are not updated while is still being updated. I would expect that it should log the data no matter if the HUD is displayed or not, this of course leads to incorrect FPS calculations Here is an example of the system log entries when the HUD is not visible:

macOS SwiftUI app with external 4K camera & sensors for Hospital Avatar: ARKit, MLX, and Thermal feasibility?
We are developing a standalone AI avatar application for hospital reception kiosks using Mac mini (M2/M4). The app runs on SwiftUI + RealityKit, displays on a 75-inch monitor, and utilizes a USB-connected 4K camera and external sensors (LiDAR/mmWave). We have several technical concerns regarding the transition from iPadOS to macOS. Could you please provide insights on the following? ARKit/Vision Framework on macOS with External Camera On iPadOS, ARKit provides robust Face Tracking. On macOS with an external USB 4K camera: Can we achieve real-time face tracking (expression/gaze/depth) with Vision framework or ARKit comparable to iPadOS performance? Are there any specific limitations for accessing the Neural Engine via Vision framework for real-time 4K video analysis on macOS? Accessing External Hardware (LiDAR/Sensors) in Sandbox We plan to connect external LiDAR and mmWave sensors (e.g., Akara) via USB/Bluetooth. Is it feasible to communicate with these custom drivers/devices within the App Sandbox environment? Would DriverKit be required, or can we use standard serial communication APIs? On-Device LLM (MLX) & Thermals We intend to run a local LLM (e.g., Llama 3 using MLX framework) for offline conversation, alongside 3D rendering. With the M2/M4 Mac mini fan design, is there a risk of thermal throttling during 10+ hours of continuous operation (simultaneous CoreML + 3D rendering)? Is the Mac Studio recommended over the Mac mini for this thermal profile? Long-running Speech API Are there any known issues (memory leaks, API limits) when using Spherch framework and AVSpeechSynthesizer continuously for over 10 hours daily? 3D Display Output Are there any macOS constraints for rendering a SwiftUI window in a specific 3D format (e.g., Side-by-Side) and outputting it via HDMI to a 3D digital signage display (fixed refresh rate/resolution)? Thank you for your assistance.

Is Using Metal Compute Shaders for Efficient Resource Copying to RealityKit the Best Approach for Streaming Data in Real-Time Rendering?
Hi Apple, In VisionOS, for real-time streaming of large 3D scenes, I plan to create Metal buffers and textures in multiple threads and then use a compute shader on the main thread to copy the Metal resources into RealityKit, minimizing main thread usage. Given that most of RealityKit's default APIs require execution on the main actor (main thread), it is not ideal for streaming data. Is this approach the best way to handle streaming data and real-time rendering? Thank you very much.

Game Center Challenges and Activities are not appearing
Hi, I'm trying to add game center challenges and activities to an already live game, but they are not appearing in game for testing, GameCenter, or the Games app. I know the game is setup with GameKit entitlements since this is a live game and it has working leaderboards and achievements. I've updated to Tahoe beta 8, added a challenge and activity on app store connect, added that to a new distribution and added that distribution to 'Add for Review' I'm using Unity and the Apple Unity plugin Not sure what other steps I'm missing Thanks
