Shortcuts: How to add “-pressed” to a file name in a shortcut
Hi there, Does anyone know how to modify this Image compressor Shortcut https://www.icloud.com/shortcuts/e13d8013598f4f33830386a956a163dd so that the image it creates has the original file name + “-pressed”? Eg “Image_123” becomes “Image_123-pressed” I know of the action ‘Rename file’ but can’t make it work. Any help much appreciated:)

App Intents with Custom Automation/Triggers
Currently, we are developing an all-in-one DualSense utility for macOS. We are exploring how to integrate shortcuts into our app. Our vision is to have the user use the native Shortcuts app to choose the controller buttons that should trigger the shortcut action, such as opening Steam, turning on audio haptics, and more. As we explore this approach, we want to see whether we need to build the UI in our app to set the triggers or can we do this inside of Shortcuts? Can button presses recorded by our app trigger shortcuts? Can those button inputs be customized inside of Shortcuts or should we develop it into our app? And if we have it in our app, can our app see, select, and trigger shortcuts?

"Show on all spaces" toggles OFF after programmatically setting wallpaper via AppleScript
I'm building an automated wallpaper updater that fetches images from an API and sets them as desktop wallpaper on macOS Tahoe. The automation uses AppleScript combined with database manipulation to ensure wallpaper applies to all spaces. Current implementation (via Apple Shortcuts): wallpaper_path="$1" osascript -e "tell application \"System Events\" to tell every desktop to set picture to POSIX file \"$wallpaper_path\"" sqlite3 ~/Library/Application\ Support/Dock/desktoppicture.db "UPDATE data SET space=NULL WHERE space IS NOT NULL;" 2>/dev/null killall -HUP Dock Issue First run: Works perfectly - sets wallpaper on all spaces/desktops, "Show on all spaces" is ON After first run: "Show on all spaces" automatically toggles OFF in System Settings Second run onwards: New wallpaper only updates on the active space, inactive spaces show old wallpaper Expected: "Show on all spaces" should remain ON after programmatic wallpaper changes Actual: System Settings automatically disables it, breaking subsequent updates Tested workarounds (all failed): UPDATE data SET space=NULL to clear per-space entries Using every desktop instead of current desktop in AppleScript killall Dock vs killall -HUP Dock vs killall -USR1 Dock Clearing space_id entries from pictures table Running DELETE FROM pictures WHERE space_id IS NOT NULL before setting The database manipulation doesn't prevent macOS from automatically creating per-space entries and disabling the "Show on all spaces" toggle. Question: Is there a way to programmatically set wallpaper while preserving the "Show on all spaces" setting on macOS Tahoe? Environment: macOS: Tahoe (latest) Architecture: Apple Silicon Use case: Daily automated wallpaper updates via Shortcuts

AppIntents built in way to receive recurrence rule as parameter?
I'm implementing app intents for my tasks app which supports recurrence rule for tasks. I see that when creating a todo for Reminders via Siri it allows to set a recurrence rule via natural language. Is there a built in way to receive that recurrence rule as a @Parameter in my AppIntent? If not, is it possible to receive the full user dictated text in the AppIntent:perform method so that I can use some ML model to convert the text to EKRecurrenceRule or similar?

Why do random errOSAInternalTableOverflow errors return when running AppleScripts via ScriptingBridge?
We have an app that controls InDesign Desktop and InDesignServer via hundreds of AppleScripts. Some macOS security updates a while back dictated that we start communicating with other apps via ScriptingBridge. We couldn't afford to convert the hundreds of AppleScripts into direct ScriptingBridge nomenclature, so we opted to keep them as is and instead tell the external apps to: [app doScript:<the script text> language:InDesignScLgApplescriptLanguage withArguments:nil undoMode:InDesignESUMScriptRequest undoName:@"blah"] There are a handful of scripts that we did convert to direct ScriptingBridge. There are times (and under the right circumstances, it's repeatable) when a certain script will have run perfectly dozens of times, and then it will throw errOSAInternalTableOverflow. We create a new SBApplication for every job (which could be a single instance of Desktop or the multiple instances of Server). Why is this error happening seemingly randomly? Is there anything we can do to work around or prevent this?

SiriKit: INPlayMediaIntent with a targeted speaker
I've got a streaming Radio app that loads an HLS stream into an AVAudioPlayer. I've set up an Intents extension that notifies SiriKit that my app must handle the INPlayMediaIntent in app, and, I'm able to successfully initiate the stream playing from my phone using the string "Play ". My intent handler in app looks like this: completionHandler(INPlayMediaIntentResponse(code: .success, userActivity: nil)) DispatchQueue.main.async { AudioPlayerService.shared.play() } The Audio Player service, in its init, does the following: try AVAudioSession.sharedInstance().setCategory( .playback, mode: .default, policy: .longFormAudio ) Additionally, in my Info.plist, I have the AirPlay optimization policy set to Long Form Audio. Having said all that, when I try to route my app to play "on a given HomePod speaker" ("play on ") the speaker routing instructions are never followed. I've looked and not been able to find where I might be able to instruct my app to follow the correct path here. I was assuming I could not trigger this behavior manually, as I believe I don't really have any control over AirPlay routing. Is there any guidance for working with SiriKit to do the right thing with regards to audio routing?

App Shortcut parameter title in Spotlight does not update after updateAppShortcutParameters()
We use AppShortcutsProvider with a parameterized App Shortcut. One of the entities has a dynamic display title (e.g. "Everyone is searching: {keyword}") that comes from UserDefaults and is returned in EntityQuery.suggestedEntities() and entities(for:). When we change the keyword and call updateAppShortcutParameters(), the Shortcuts app updates and shows the new title. In Spotlight (Siri Suggestions), the displayed title stays on the old value (e.g. still shows "Everyone is searching: 456" after we switched to "123"). On tap, the shortcut runs with the new value (123), so the execution is correct; only the displayed title in Spotlight is stale. Question: Is this expected? Is there any API or recommended approach to invalidate or refresh the Spotlight suggestion so the displayed title matches the current parameter, or should we avoid dynamic titles for the first suggestion for better UX?

Numbers Extension in Shortcuts
I am building an automation using Shortcuts. The shortcut reads text from my Notes, sends it to Apple Intelligence, converts the result into dictionary values, and then saves those values into a Numbers sheet by adding rows through a form. The problem is that when the automation processes multiple lines and adds multiple rows, the Numbers app opens every time a row is added. I would like this process to run automatically at a scheduled time without opening the Numbers app repeatedly on my iPhone. Is there a way to update the Numbers sheet in the background without launching the Numbers app? Please let me know if there is a solution.

Can I use AppIntent with tvOS?
The AppIntent feature is available on tvOS since OS 16. https://developer.apple.com/documentation/appintents I tried a real basic integration where I just want simply open a specific tab in my tabbar. But the perform action gets never called. Is it really possible already to use AppIntent on tvOS? Or is this feature still mostly targeted for mobile devices? Also, the documentaiton says so often something about shortcuts app and features, that are not available on tvOS, that I started doubting that the AppIntent is really usable on tvOS. If AppIntents are available and usable for tvOS, what could be wrong, so that I do not see the expected results?

Siri Shortcuts Not Recognized on HomePod mini (audioOS 26.4) – Delegates to Built-in Responses Instead
Bug Report Environment 4× HomePod mini, audioOS 26.4 (23L243) iPhone, iPad, Mac – all running latest OS versions (iOS/iPadOS/macOS 26) iCloud account active, Shortcuts sync enabled on all devices Summary Siri no longer executes custom Shortcuts on any HomePod mini. Shortcuts: Can not access submenu of inserted variables inside of newly created dictionaries on mac
While I was creating a shortcut using the dictionary function I encountered a bug. When creating a new dictionary to store the date and some other stuff I set a value to the current date variable. I went to change the date format to one I preferred I was unable to access the submenu to do so. To figure out what was going on I did some testing and here is what I found: You can't access the submenu of any inserted variable This only happens in newly created dictionaries You can be fix the dictionary by simply closing and opening the shortcut This bug does not happen on Iphone How to make this bug happen: Open any shortcut Create a new dictionary Add a variable in the value field You can no longer access the sub menu to edit the variable.

Are there specific developer integration terms or agreements for Siri / App Intents Framework?
We are integrating the App Intents framework into our iOS app to enable Siri functionality, including intents that display user data (e.g., showing upcoming schedule information) and intents that perform actions on behalf of users (e.g., submitting a time-off request). Our Legal team has asked us to provide any developer-specific integration terms or agreements that govern the engineering use of Siri and the App Intents framework — separate from the user-facing Siri, Dictation & Privacy terms. So far, the only reference we've found to App Intents or Siri in Apple's developer agreements is Section J of the Apple Developer Program License Agreement. We've also reviewed the App Store Review Guidelines, the Privacy HIG, and the Siri HIG. As a point of comparison, Apple Maps has its own specific set of developer integration terms (MapKit / Apple Maps Server API terms). Does anything equivalent exist for Siri and/or the App Intents framework? Thank you.

WatchOS 26.5 breaks Action Button intent donation
For some reason since watchOS 26.5 my workout app can no longer receive action button presses during a workout unless the action button is configured to start a specified activity type. If the action button is configured to just open the app but not start an activity then at the start of a workout the app donates a StartWorkoutIntent. The result parameter is set to a 'NextButtonPress' intent so that the app is notified when the action button is pressed. This has been working fine since the action button first appeared back in 2022, but has suddenly stopped working with watchOS 26.5. Now when the app tries to donate the intent then it fails with the following error: The operation couldn’t be completed. (LNTranscriptErrorDomain error 1003.) Does anyone know what has changed and how I can get around it? Thanks.

SetFocusFilterIntent broken in macOS 26.5
Since the update to macOS 26.5, SetFocusFilterIntent is broken in two ways: When using a SetFocusFilterIntent where the user can select one AppEntity out of a list, the selection is broken. Instead of the selected item, the first or two items at the same time are highlighted. The perform method of the SetFocusFilterIntent is never called. On iOS there seems to be a strange fix when the focus filter doesn't work, just conform the focus filter to a LiveActivityIntent: struct FocusFilter: SetFocusFilterIntent, LiveActivityIntent No solution for macOS yet.

enquiry for Adaptive Temperature feature for Matter thermostat device
I am developing a Matter thermostat device and would like to understand the specific requirements for supporting the Adaptive Temperature feature in the Apple Home app. What we have tested: We built a standard Matter 1.4 thermostat that implements the Thermostat cluster with support for Cool, Heat, and Auto modes. We successfully added this device to a HomePod running iOS 26.2 (or later). However, the Adaptive Temperature button does not appear in the device settings within the Home app. Our questions: Are there additional Matter cluster attributes or features beyond the standard Matter 1.4 Thermostat cluster that are required for Adaptive Temperature to be recognized by Apple Home? Does Adaptive Temperature require any specific device type or optional feature (e.g., occupancy sensing, local temperature reporting intervals, or support for Auto mode in a particular way)? Is there any special entitlement or capability that must be enabled in the Apple Developer account (e.g., under Certificates, Identifiers & Profiles) for a Matter device to expose Adaptive Temperature? Are there known reference implementations or test cases we can follow to validate Adaptive Temperature support? Any documentation, technical specifications, or guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Thank you.

Shortcut caching
Hi! I used the shortcuts app to customize my iPhone with custom icons that I put through the launch app command in shortcuts. Now when I scroll they refresh every time and it's super annoying. How do I make them cache and not refresh just like normal icons? Thank you!
