Gathering Required Information for Troubleshooting Apple Pay In-App Provisioning or In-App Verification Issues

To gather the required data for your own debugging as well as reporting issues, please perform the following steps on the test device: Install the Apple Pay and Wallet profiles on your iOS or watchOS device. If the issue occurs on Mac, continue to Step 2. Reproduce the issue and make a note of the timestamp when the issue occurred, while optionally capturing screenshots or video. Integrating Apple Pay into an HTML inline frame (iframe) on your website
iOS 16 and earlier On iOS 16 and earlier, Apple Pay on the Web required Safari—and all interactions with the Apple Pay API to come from the parent/top level page. In order to facilitate the Apple Pay button in an HTML inline frame (iframe), there will need to be cross frame communication between the child and parent pages. Cross frame communication should be secure and robust, therefore the use of postMessage for this purpose is recommended. The expectation is for all communication with Apple Pay to occur from the parent page, so the iframe must relay all Apple Pay related events to the parent to handle. Some examples: Apple Pay availability: The parent calls applePayCapabilities, then sends the message of the response to the iframe, which then uses the value to toggle the visibility of the Apple Pay button. Apple Pay session: The iframe receives an onclick() event when the Apple Pay button is clicked and sends the message to the parent (providing details about the transaction). The parent create the payment request to obtain the session validation URL, and eventually receive session credentials and invokes completeMerchantValidation() to prevent the payment sheet. After the payment is authorized by the Payment Service Provider (PSP), the parent either: Redirects the parent page to a payment success page; or Sends a message to the iframe to complete the transaction flow itself. iOS 17 and later On IOS 17 and later, the iframe HTML element should include the allow="payment" attribute, which should facilitate the cross frame communications instead of needing a dedicated JavaScript library. This means all of the Apple Pay code/calls can reside in the iframe page—which is typically a hosted page from a Payment Service Provider (PSP), all the parent page—typically a merchant—has to do is add the attribute mentioned above to the iframe element. Important: Regardless of the iOS version, the PSP/merchant always needs to make sure the parent page domain is the one registered in the Developer portal, and used in the request to generate a merchant session via ApplePaySession. System canceled add payment pass - Apple Wallet
Hello All - I'm attempting to enable my companies app to add credit card to Apple Wallet. Part of our app enables customers to generate new virtual cards on demand and I'm attempting to enable the ability to add these cards to the Apple Wallet. Everything seems to be working all the way to the final stage of the process where I get a PKPassKitErrorDomain systemCancelled and I can't seem to find any clues as to why the system is canceling. For context - I have the com.apple.developer.payment-pass-provisioning entitlement. I have both the Wallet and In-App Provisioning capabilities enabled in the App. I have defined a PKAddPaymentPassViewControllerDelegate class that implements both the generateRequest and didFinishAdding methods. I'm leveraging PKAddPaymentPassViewController in SwiftUI by using a UIViewControllerRepresentable implementing class that returns the view controller properly when makeUIViewController is called. I build a PKAddPaymentPassRequest object and ensure that it is properly filled with encryptedPassData, activationData, and ephemeralPublicKey. As a user I'm able to go to the virtual card view, open the instance of PKAddPaymentPassViewController, select the destination for the card, see the Add Card information. I get to the point where the view tells me it's contacting the card issuer and then I get an error message "Could Not Add Card - Try again later or contact your card issuer for more information" with a "Set Up Later" button. I then get the system canceled error. I should mention that I'm able to add these virtual cards manually via the Apple Wallet. The process works similarly but requires me to provided an OTP to conclude the process. This flow works and I have active cards in my wallet. I'm having a very hard time figuring out how to try and debug this issue further. The only error that the system returns is the system canceled notice. Any insight into where I might be missing something or how to debug the issue further would be greatly appreciated. Any thought on how I could debug this further would also be greatly appreciated. Apple Pay: Renewal of Domains fails and get redirected to main page without errors
Hello, we are trying to extend the dates of verified domains following the docs of https://developer.apple.com/documentation/applepayontheweb/maintaining-your-environment#Renew-Your-Domain-Verification and configured the server following https://developer.apple.com/documentation/ApplePayontheWeb/setting-up-your-server we've download the apple-developer-merchantid-domain-association.txt and update them on their respective locations, click 'ok' button and we get redirected to the main page of the merchant certificate, but the expiration dates have not been extended, we can see on our web crawler that Apple Requested the file and it return a 200. No popup errors are shown, no console developer error we only get redirected to the merchant certificate information page.

Apple Pay on the Web Merchant Validation Intermittent 403 Forbidden
We are experiencing intermittent 403 Forbidden errors during Apple Pay on web merchant validation in our production and sandbox environment. Has anyone else started seeing 403 Forbidden errors recently (since mid-2025)? Why would merchant validation be sometimes successful and sometimes fail with 403? Could this be related to new Apple Pay gateway changes or stricter validation rules? Any additional debug steps or permanent solutions we should try? Thank you.

When using Promotional Offers to upgrade a subscription, a prompt appears indicating an expiration date for upgrading.
Two subscriptions, Plus and Max, are under the same subscription group, with Max having a higher tier than Plus. Promotional Offers for Max are configured in Apple Store Connect. When a user subscribes to Plus and then upgrades to Max using Promotional Offers, they are prompted with "Upgrade upon expiration" (Figure 1); if they don't use Promotional Offers, they are prompted to "Upgrade immediately" (Figure 2). Question 1: What is the situation with the "upgrade upon expiration" message in Figure 1? Is upgrading using Promotional Offers special? I couldn't find any relevant explanation in Apple's technical documentation. Question 2: Figure 1 shows an "upgrade upon expiration," but after subscribing, the webhook still shows the subscription start time as the current time, meaning the upgrade hasn't started immediately. Is the message incorrect?

Issue With Apple Pay Express
We are facing an issue with Apple Pay address details while customers are placing orders on our production site. By default, the following values are being passed during checkout: First Name: ApplePay Last Name: Express Address: ApplePay Street When we manually enter these same details, our validation correctly prevents the order from being placed and displays an appropriate error message. However, on our production site, real customers are still able to successfully place orders with these exact details. Could you please help us understand: How these orders are being allowed to proceed despite the validation? Is this behaviour expected from Apple Pay ? How can we prevent orders from being placed with such placeholder address details? Please let us know if you need any additional information from our side. We have also attached an image showing the address details and the corresponding order number for reference. Thanks in advance for your support.

Ngrok proxy for local development not working
Hello, I'm trying to make changes to my website's apple pay flow and an unable to verify if the flow works because I get the following error in the console when trying to pay: TypeError: undefined is not an object (evaluating 'applePaySession.completeMerchantValidation') By following this error message, I try to setup an ngrok proxy to verify my local development domain and that fails as well even though as you can see, the file does actually exist. Can anyone help with A) giving me a different way to develop locally aka having a "successful" apple pay payment so I can verify my website's flow after payment or B) help me figure out why the domain verification is failing. Apple Pay
We are an acquirer/payment provider offering Apple Pay. Our merchants use our hosted checkout to accept payments. After a user pays with Apple Pay on our checkout, the Wallet transaction record shows our checkout domain as the payee. We would like it to display the merchant’s brand/name so users can recognize or contact the merchant. Is there any parameter or configuration that controls what Wallet shows as the payee? For example, can this be set via a specific field/parameter, or is it strictly derived from the Merchant ID’s display name (or other Apple Pay configuration)? What is the correct approach for a PSP/acquirer to have the merchant’s brand shown in Wallet transaction record? Additional detail: The field in question is the merchant/payee name shown in the Apple Wallet receipt—directly under the transaction amount at the top of the receipt, and again beneath the “Total” line.

Apple Wallet Push Token length
For the pushToken sent by APNS to register a wallet pass for update notifications, is there a max length or size that APNS will send? I save the token in my database and have it defined as varchar(256), but I have had some instances where the pushToken is larger than that. I'd like to know if there's an absolute max size that APNS will send. Then I'll know if I should reject requests with tokens larger than what's expected, and/or if I need to make the token size larger in the database.

Apple Pay 3dSecure Version for Mastercard
We have finished integrating Apple Pay in our app and our payment processor is requiring us to send the 3dSecure version used for apple pay (2.1,2.2,2.3,etc.). I believe this only applies to mastercard but would appreciate if anyone has run into something similar and what you specified. I have not been able to find anything in Apple's documentation specifying the version that is used.

Determining which Apple Pay token is completing activation when issuer app is launched from Wallet
Hi, we are implementing ID&V and there is a requirement regarding the flow for Apple Pay. In order to clarify the case I will describe the use case scenario or steps to reproduce first: add a card to the iPhone wallet app (yellow path verification required). Do not complete the ID&V process. add a card to the Watch via the Wallet inside the iPhone Watch app (yellow path verification required). Same as before, do not complete the ID&V complete ID&V process using the Issuer App either from iPhone or Watch. the Issuer app receives the application:openURL:options: callback on its AppDelegate. In the options dictionary, we can not see the UIApplicationOpenURLOptionsSourceApplicationKey populated (it is nil). At this moment, for the card we are adding there are now two tokens, both to be verified via ID&V process. One is on the iPhone and one is on the Apple Watch associated with the same iPhone. The url received at step 4 contains the serial number which identifies the digitized card and matches with both the tokens in the iPhone and in the Apple Watch. We need something to detect programmatically if the digitization process started from the iPhone Wallet app or from the wallet inside the Watch app. Could you please help us to identify how we could discriminate if the ID&V process has been started for the iPhone token or for the Apple Watch token? Implementing Apple Pay In-App Provisioning in a WKWebView app
We are developing a native iOS financial application called Tradu: Stocks, Forex, and CFDs (Apple ID: 6473443264), which embeds a WKWebView to render all user-facing logic. All user interactions—including authentication with MFA—occur inside this WKWebView. To access native functionality, we use postMessage() to communicate between the web and native layers. This approach has worked successfully for biometric authentication, for example. We are currently integrating Apple Pay In-App Provisioning and have a few questions regarding compliance with the documentation provided by our Issuer Host (Modulr). In the document titled Getting Started with Apple Pay: In-App Provisioning, Verification, Security, and Wallet Extensions (Version 4.0, February 2023), all examples are based on a fully native application. We’ve managed to integrate most of the In-App Provisioning flow via postMessage() up to the point of passing encryptedData to the Payment View. Apple Pay button inside WKWebView In Section 7: Frontend Overview, the user initiates the provisioning by tapping a native PKPaymentButton (SwiftUI example). In our case, this button is rendered inside the WKWebView, styled according to the Apple Style Guide. While the document references this approach as a “raw mark text supplement,” is this method acceptable and compliant with Apple’s UX and technical guidelines? MFA requirement before provisioning In Section 4: Security Guidelines, it is stated that the user must have passed MFA at least once before starting the provisioning flow. In our implementation, users must complete MFA on every login (including on recognized devices) before the provisioning UI becomes available. Even though this is not tied specifically to “unrecognized devices,” is our MFA requirement sufficient to satisfy Section 4.2? Summary: Is using a web-rendered Apple Pay button inside WKWebView (instead of a native PKPaymentButton) considered compliant? Is our MFA enforcement model (required on every login) aligned with the security requirements outlined in Section 4.2 of the Apple Pay In-App Provisioning documentation?

Unable to verify the merchant domain after renewing the SSL
Hi, We're experiencing an issue with verifying our domain for Apple Pay on the web. It's currently stuck in the "Pending" state despite meeting the listed requirements. The domain in question has been verified once successfully but one month later when we renewed the SSL, we were unable to verify the domain again. Please note that the new certificate's CA chain has been changed. A) The "apple-developer-merchantid-domain-association.txt" file is publicly accessible at the following location: /.well-known/apple-developer-merchantid-domain-association.txt B) We've also ensured that the following IP ranges are whitelisted: 17.32.139.128/27 17.32.139.160/27 17.140.126.0/27 17.140.126.32/27 17.179.144.128/27 17.179.144.160/27 17.179.144.192/27 17.179.144.224/27 17.253.0.0/16 17.23.4.96/27 17.132.108.64/26 17.23.24.32/27 17.23.19.0/27 17.157.40.128/27 17.157.44.128/27 17.157.32.0/27 C) Our servers support TLS 1.2 already. D) "ECDHE-RSA-AES128-GCM-SHA256" cipher suite has been used, so we believe all necessary criteria are satisfied. However, when we attempt to verify the domain, we receive the following error message: "Domain verification failed. Review your TLS Certificate configuration to confirm that the certificate is accessible and a supported TLS Cipher Suite is used." How to correctly calculate sales tax for digital goods (no shipping address) before authorizing transaction
Hi, we are setting up Apple Pay on our website which sells only digital goods. We don't collect a shipping address because we aren't shipping anything. We want to use the user's billing address in order to show them the total amount (including sales tax) before they authorize the purchase. However, it seems that the billing address isn't always provided by Apple Pay before the payment is authorized. With Apple Pay, what is the recommended way of acquiring the user's billing address before they authorize the purchase? -- More details about our setup: We are using the Apple Pay JS API. In createPaymentRequest, we specify requiredBillingContactFields: ['postalAddress'], but per the docs, the address is provided after the user authorizes the transaction. That is too late for us because we want to show the sales tax before the user authorizes the purchase. We have attempted to work around this by getting the billing contact details in session.onpaymentmethodselected. For example: session.onpaymentmethodselected = function (event) { const billingContact = event.paymentMethod.billingContact; // Sometimes `billingContact` exists, but other times it does not } This doc states: Before the user authorizes the transaction, you receive redacted billing contact information in a callback event. The redacted information includes only the necessary data for completing transaction tasks, such as calculating taxes or shipping costs. But in practice, we've observed that sometimes no billing contact information is provided. When a user switches from one card to another, we seem to never get the billing contact associated with the newly selected card. Is there something we're missing?

Apple Pay In-App Provisioning – Apple server failure when adding a card
We are implementing Apple Pay In-App Provisioning in our issuer iOS application and are encountering a HTTP 500 error returned from Apple servers during the provisioning flow. The issue occurs after generating the encrypted payload and attempting to complete the provisioning process. The Apple service responds with 500 Internal Server Error, preventing the card from being added to Wallet. We would appreciate assistance identifying whether this is caused by: • a payload formatting issue, • cryptographic material mismatch, • entitlement / configuration issue, • or a server-side issue. Environment Platform • iOS: 26.3.1 • Device: iPhone 13 mini • Xcode: 26.3.1 Apple Pay configuration • In-App Provisioning entitlement enabled • Issuer app authorized by Apple for provisioning • Payment Network: Mastercard • Token Service Provider (TSP): MDES Testing environment • Production • App distribution method: TestFlight Provisioning Flow Overview Our implementation follows the standard Apple Pay In-App Provisioning flow: 1. User taps Add to Apple Wallet in issuer app. 2. App presents PKAddPaymentPassViewController. 3. App receives: • Apple public certificates • nonce • nonceSignature 4. Issuer backend generates: • encryptedPassData • activationData • ephemeralPublicKey 5. These values are returned to the app. 6. App constructs PKAddPaymentPassRequest. 7. Wallet attempts provisioning. At this point the request fails and Apple servers return HTTP 500. We see this in the system console, with the phone having Wallet debugging profile installed. Checklist – Common Issues Verified Based on the Apple Pay In-App Provisioning demo guidance, we verified the following configuration items. To prevent sending sensitive credentials in plain text, create a report in Feedback Assistant to share the details requested below. Additionally, if the error is something we need to investigate further, the appropriate engineering teams also have access to the same information and can communicate with you directly within Feedback Assistant for more information, as needed. Please follow the instructions below to submit your report. For issues occurring with your native app or web service, perform the following steps: Install the Apple Pay profile on your iOS or watchOS device. If the issue occurs on Mac, continue to Step 2. Reproduce the issue and make a note of the timestamp when the issue occurred, while optionally capturing screenshots or video. Gather a sysdiagnose on the same iOS or watchOS device, or on macOS. Create a Feedback Assistant report with the following information: The serial number of the device. For iOS and watchOS: Open Settings > General > About > Serial Number (tap and hold to copy). For macOS: Open the Apple () menu > About This Mac > Serial Number. The SEID (Secure Element Identifier) of the device, represented as a HEX encoded string. For iOS and watchOS: open Settings > General > About > SEID (tap and hold to copy). For macOS: Open the Apple () menu > About This Mac > System Report > NVMExpress > Serial Number. The sysdiagnose gathered after reproducing the issue. The timestamp of when the issue was reproduced. Screenshots or videos of errors and unexpected behaviors (optional). Important: From the logs gathered above, you should be able to determine the cause of the failure from PassbookUIService, PassKit or PassKitCore, and by filtering for your SEID or merchant domain in the Safari Web Inspector. Integrating Apple Pay into an HTML inline frame (iframe) on your website
iOS 16 and earlier On iOS 16 and earlier, Apple Pay on the Web required Safari—and all interactions with the Apple Pay API to come from the parent/top level page. In order to facilitate the Apple Pay button in an HTML inline frame (iframe), there will need to be cross frame communication between the child and parent pages. Cross frame communication should be secure and robust, therefore the use of postMessage for this purpose is recommended. The expectation is for all communication with Apple Pay to occur from the parent page, so the iframe must relay all Apple Pay related events to the parent to handle. Some examples: Apple Pay availability: The parent calls applePayCapabilities, then sends the message of the response to the iframe, which then uses the value to toggle the visibility of the Apple Pay button. Apple Pay session: The iframe receives an onclick() event when the Apple Pay button is clicked and sends the message to the parent (providing details about the transaction). The parent create the payment request to obtain the session validation URL, and eventually receive session credentials and invokes completeMerchantValidation() to prevent the payment sheet. After the payment is authorized by the Payment Service Provider (PSP), the parent either: Redirects the parent page to a payment success page; or Sends a message to the iframe to complete the transaction flow itself. iOS 17 and later On IOS 17 and later, the iframe HTML element should include the allow="payment" attribute, which should facilitate the cross frame communications instead of needing a dedicated JavaScript library. This means all of the Apple Pay code/calls can reside in the iframe page—which is typically a hosted page from a Payment Service Provider (PSP), all the parent page—typically a merchant—has to do is add the attribute mentioned above to the iframe element. Important: Regardless of the iOS version, the PSP/merchant always needs to make sure the parent page domain is the one registered in the Developer portal, and used in the request to generate a merchant session via ApplePaySession. System canceled add payment pass - Apple Wallet
Hello All - I'm attempting to enable my companies app to add credit card to Apple Wallet. Part of our app enables customers to generate new virtual cards on demand and I'm attempting to enable the ability to add these cards to the Apple Wallet. Everything seems to be working all the way to the final stage of the process where I get a PKPassKitErrorDomain systemCancelled and I can't seem to find any clues as to why the system is canceling. For context - I have the com.apple.developer.payment-pass-provisioning entitlement. I have both the Wallet and In-App Provisioning capabilities enabled in the App. I have defined a PKAddPaymentPassViewControllerDelegate class that implements both the generateRequest and didFinishAdding methods. I'm leveraging PKAddPaymentPassViewController in SwiftUI by using a UIViewControllerRepresentable implementing class that returns the view controller properly when makeUIViewController is called. I build a PKAddPaymentPassRequest object and ensure that it is properly filled with encryptedPassData, activationData, and ephemeralPublicKey. As a user I'm able to go to the virtual card view, open the instance of PKAddPaymentPassViewController, select the destination for the card, see the Add Card information. I get to the point where the view tells me it's contacting the card issuer and then I get an error message "Could Not Add Card - Try again later or contact your card issuer for more information" with a "Set Up Later" button. I then get the system canceled error. I should mention that I'm able to add these virtual cards manually via the Apple Wallet. The process works similarly but requires me to provided an OTP to conclude the process. This flow works and I have active cards in my wallet. I'm having a very hard time figuring out how to try and debug this issue further. The only error that the system returns is the system canceled notice. Any insight into where I might be missing something or how to debug the issue further would be greatly appreciated. Any thought on how I could debug this further would also be greatly appreciated. Apple Pay: Renewal of Domains fails and get redirected to main page without errors
Hello, we are trying to extend the dates of verified domains following the docs of https://developer.apple.com/documentation/applepayontheweb/maintaining-your-environment#Renew-Your-Domain-Verification and configured the server following https://developer.apple.com/documentation/ApplePayontheWeb/setting-up-your-server we've download the apple-developer-merchantid-domain-association.txt and update them on their respective locations, click 'ok' button and we get redirected to the main page of the merchant certificate, but the expiration dates have not been extended, we can see on our web crawler that Apple Requested the file and it return a 200. No popup errors are shown, no console developer error we only get redirected to the merchant certificate information page.

Apple Pay on the Web Merchant Validation Intermittent 403 Forbidden
We are experiencing intermittent 403 Forbidden errors during Apple Pay on web merchant validation in our production and sandbox environment. Has anyone else started seeing 403 Forbidden errors recently (since mid-2025)? Why would merchant validation be sometimes successful and sometimes fail with 403? Could this be related to new Apple Pay gateway changes or stricter validation rules? Any additional debug steps or permanent solutions we should try? Thank you.

When using Promotional Offers to upgrade a subscription, a prompt appears indicating an expiration date for upgrading.
Two subscriptions, Plus and Max, are under the same subscription group, with Max having a higher tier than Plus. Promotional Offers for Max are configured in Apple Store Connect. When a user subscribes to Plus and then upgrades to Max using Promotional Offers, they are prompted with "Upgrade upon expiration" (Figure 1); if they don't use Promotional Offers, they are prompted to "Upgrade immediately" (Figure 2). Question 1: What is the situation with the "upgrade upon expiration" message in Figure 1? Is upgrading using Promotional Offers special? I couldn't find any relevant explanation in Apple's technical documentation. Question 2: Figure 1 shows an "upgrade upon expiration," but after subscribing, the webhook still shows the subscription start time as the current time, meaning the upgrade hasn't started immediately. Is the message incorrect?

Issue With Apple Pay Express
We are facing an issue with Apple Pay address details while customers are placing orders on our production site. By default, the following values are being passed during checkout: First Name: ApplePay Last Name: Express Address: ApplePay Street When we manually enter these same details, our validation correctly prevents the order from being placed and displays an appropriate error message. However, on our production site, real customers are still able to successfully place orders with these exact details. Could you please help us understand: How these orders are being allowed to proceed despite the validation? Is this behaviour expected from Apple Pay ? How can we prevent orders from being placed with such placeholder address details? Please let us know if you need any additional information from our side. We have also attached an image showing the address details and the corresponding order number for reference. Thanks in advance for your support.

Ngrok proxy for local development not working
Hello, I'm trying to make changes to my website's apple pay flow and an unable to verify if the flow works because I get the following error in the console when trying to pay: TypeError: undefined is not an object (evaluating 'applePaySession.completeMerchantValidation') By following this error message, I try to setup an ngrok proxy to verify my local development domain and that fails as well even though as you can see, the file does actually exist. Can anyone help with A) giving me a different way to develop locally aka having a "successful" apple pay payment so I can verify my website's flow after payment or B) help me figure out why the domain verification is failing. Apple Pay
We are an acquirer/payment provider offering Apple Pay. Our merchants use our hosted checkout to accept payments. After a user pays with Apple Pay on our checkout, the Wallet transaction record shows our checkout domain as the payee. We would like it to display the merchant’s brand/name so users can recognize or contact the merchant. Is there any parameter or configuration that controls what Wallet shows as the payee? For example, can this be set via a specific field/parameter, or is it strictly derived from the Merchant ID’s display name (or other Apple Pay configuration)? What is the correct approach for a PSP/acquirer to have the merchant’s brand shown in Wallet transaction record? Additional detail: The field in question is the merchant/payee name shown in the Apple Wallet receipt—directly under the transaction amount at the top of the receipt, and again beneath the “Total” line.

Apple Wallet Push Token length
For the pushToken sent by APNS to register a wallet pass for update notifications, is there a max length or size that APNS will send? I save the token in my database and have it defined as varchar(256), but I have had some instances where the pushToken is larger than that. I'd like to know if there's an absolute max size that APNS will send. Then I'll know if I should reject requests with tokens larger than what's expected, and/or if I need to make the token size larger in the database.

Apple Pay 3dSecure Version for Mastercard
We have finished integrating Apple Pay in our app and our payment processor is requiring us to send the 3dSecure version used for apple pay (2.1,2.2,2.3,etc.). I believe this only applies to mastercard but would appreciate if anyone has run into something similar and what you specified. I have not been able to find anything in Apple's documentation specifying the version that is used.

Apple pay QR code is not available
When I use my iPhone to scan the apple pay QR code in chrome, the url is https://applepaydemo.apple.com/apple-pay-js-api, I keep geting the "Service Unavailable" error. Wonder know if you guys meet this error as well? Btw, the QR code feature needs IOS 18.

Apple Pay ok with SandBox but ko in production
Hello, On my website, I have a button to make a payment via Apple Pay. When I click on it, the Touch ID window opens correctly. However, when I place my finger on the Touch ID, I get a payment error. This issue only occurs in production mode. In sandbox mode, everything works perfectly. Here is a log file : log.txt Thank you in advance for your help.

Determining which Apple Pay token is completing activation when issuer app is launched from Wallet
Hi, we are implementing ID&V and there is a requirement regarding the flow for Apple Pay. In order to clarify the case I will describe the use case scenario or steps to reproduce first: add a card to the iPhone wallet app (yellow path verification required). Do not complete the ID&V process. add a card to the Watch via the Wallet inside the iPhone Watch app (yellow path verification required). Same as before, do not complete the ID&V complete ID&V process using the Issuer App either from iPhone or Watch. the Issuer app receives the application:openURL:options: callback on its AppDelegate. In the options dictionary, we can not see the UIApplicationOpenURLOptionsSourceApplicationKey populated (it is nil). At this moment, for the card we are adding there are now two tokens, both to be verified via ID&V process. One is on the iPhone and one is on the Apple Watch associated with the same iPhone. The url received at step 4 contains the serial number which identifies the digitized card and matches with both the tokens in the iPhone and in the Apple Watch. We need something to detect programmatically if the digitization process started from the iPhone Wallet app or from the wallet inside the Watch app. Could you please help us to identify how we could discriminate if the ID&V process has been started for the iPhone token or for the Apple Watch token? Implementing Apple Pay In-App Provisioning in a WKWebView app
We are developing a native iOS financial application called Tradu: Stocks, Forex, and CFDs (Apple ID: 6473443264), which embeds a WKWebView to render all user-facing logic. All user interactions—including authentication with MFA—occur inside this WKWebView. To access native functionality, we use postMessage() to communicate between the web and native layers. This approach has worked successfully for biometric authentication, for example. We are currently integrating Apple Pay In-App Provisioning and have a few questions regarding compliance with the documentation provided by our Issuer Host (Modulr). In the document titled Getting Started with Apple Pay: In-App Provisioning, Verification, Security, and Wallet Extensions (Version 4.0, February 2023), all examples are based on a fully native application. We’ve managed to integrate most of the In-App Provisioning flow via postMessage() up to the point of passing encryptedData to the Payment View. Apple Pay button inside WKWebView In Section 7: Frontend Overview, the user initiates the provisioning by tapping a native PKPaymentButton (SwiftUI example). In our case, this button is rendered inside the WKWebView, styled according to the Apple Style Guide. While the document references this approach as a “raw mark text supplement,” is this method acceptable and compliant with Apple’s UX and technical guidelines? MFA requirement before provisioning In Section 4: Security Guidelines, it is stated that the user must have passed MFA at least once before starting the provisioning flow. In our implementation, users must complete MFA on every login (including on recognized devices) before the provisioning UI becomes available. Even though this is not tied specifically to “unrecognized devices,” is our MFA requirement sufficient to satisfy Section 4.2? Summary: Is using a web-rendered Apple Pay button inside WKWebView (instead of a native PKPaymentButton) considered compliant? Is our MFA enforcement model (required on every login) aligned with the security requirements outlined in Section 4.2 of the Apple Pay In-App Provisioning documentation?

Unable to verify the merchant domain after renewing the SSL
Hi, We're experiencing an issue with verifying our domain for Apple Pay on the web. It's currently stuck in the "Pending" state despite meeting the listed requirements. The domain in question has been verified once successfully but one month later when we renewed the SSL, we were unable to verify the domain again. Please note that the new certificate's CA chain has been changed. A) The "apple-developer-merchantid-domain-association.txt" file is publicly accessible at the following location: /.well-known/apple-developer-merchantid-domain-association.txt B) We've also ensured that the following IP ranges are whitelisted: 17.32.139.128/27 17.32.139.160/27 17.140.126.0/27 17.140.126.32/27 17.179.144.128/27 17.179.144.160/27 17.179.144.192/27 17.179.144.224/27 17.253.0.0/16 17.23.4.96/27 17.132.108.64/26 17.23.24.32/27 17.23.19.0/27 17.157.40.128/27 17.157.44.128/27 17.157.32.0/27 C) Our servers support TLS 1.2 already. D) "ECDHE-RSA-AES128-GCM-SHA256" cipher suite has been used, so we believe all necessary criteria are satisfied. However, when we attempt to verify the domain, we receive the following error message: "Domain verification failed. Review your TLS Certificate configuration to confirm that the certificate is accessible and a supported TLS Cipher Suite is used." How to correctly calculate sales tax for digital goods (no shipping address) before authorizing transaction
Hi, we are setting up Apple Pay on our website which sells only digital goods. We don't collect a shipping address because we aren't shipping anything. We want to use the user's billing address in order to show them the total amount (including sales tax) before they authorize the purchase. However, it seems that the billing address isn't always provided by Apple Pay before the payment is authorized. With Apple Pay, what is the recommended way of acquiring the user's billing address before they authorize the purchase? -- More details about our setup: We are using the Apple Pay JS API. In createPaymentRequest, we specify requiredBillingContactFields: ['postalAddress'], but per the docs, the address is provided after the user authorizes the transaction. That is too late for us because we want to show the sales tax before the user authorizes the purchase. We have attempted to work around this by getting the billing contact details in session.onpaymentmethodselected. For example: session.onpaymentmethodselected = function (event) { const billingContact = event.paymentMethod.billingContact; // Sometimes `billingContact` exists, but other times it does not } This doc states: Before the user authorizes the transaction, you receive redacted billing contact information in a callback event. The redacted information includes only the necessary data for completing transaction tasks, such as calculating taxes or shipping costs. But in practice, we've observed that sometimes no billing contact information is provided. When a user switches from one card to another, we seem to never get the billing contact associated with the newly selected card. Is there something we're missing?

Apple Pay In-App Provisioning – Apple server failure when adding a card
We are implementing Apple Pay In-App Provisioning in our issuer iOS application and are encountering a HTTP 500 error returned from Apple servers during the provisioning flow. The issue occurs after generating the encrypted payload and attempting to complete the provisioning process. The Apple service responds with 500 Internal Server Error, preventing the card from being added to Wallet. We would appreciate assistance identifying whether this is caused by: • a payload formatting issue, • cryptographic material mismatch, • entitlement / configuration issue, • or a server-side issue. Environment Platform • iOS: 26.3.1 • Device: iPhone 13 mini • Xcode: 26.3.1 Apple Pay configuration • In-App Provisioning entitlement enabled • Issuer app authorized by Apple for provisioning • Payment Network: Mastercard • Token Service Provider (TSP): MDES Testing environment • Production • App distribution method: TestFlight Provisioning Flow Overview Our implementation follows the standard Apple Pay In-App Provisioning flow: 1. User taps Add to Apple Wallet in issuer app. 2. App presents PKAddPaymentPassViewController. 3. App receives: • Apple public certificates • nonce • nonceSignature 4. Issuer backend generates: • encryptedPassData • activationData • ephemeralPublicKey 5. These values are returned to the app. 6. App constructs PKAddPaymentPassRequest. 7. Wallet attempts provisioning. At this point the request fails and Apple servers return HTTP 500. We see this in the system console, with the phone having Wallet debugging profile installed. Checklist – Common Issues Verified Based on the Apple Pay In-App Provisioning demo guidance, we verified the following configuration items. Entitlements • com.apple.developer.payment-pass-provisioning enabled • Apple Pay capability enabled in Xcode • Correct Team ID and bundle configuration App configuration • PKAddPaymentPassViewController used for provisioning • PKAddPaymentPassViewControllerDelegate implemented • generateRequestWithCertificateChain implemented correctly Cryptographic data • encryptedPassData • activationData • ephemeralPublicKey All values are generated by our issuer backend and returned to the app Feedback ID: FB22249031 (In app provisioning error 500)
