MAS restrictions on file read-write for desktop electron apps
We have an electron app developed for Mac. We would like to restore the user data previously saved in downloads once user installs the app from store and first launch. But MAS has restrictions with ""com.apple.security.files.downloads.read-write". We have enabled the user access in Entitlement files and request user permission before access What options can be user to auto restore the data from downlodas?

Default Voices for AVSpeechUtterance
It appears iOS only comes with low quality voices installed. iOS requires the user to go into settings to download higher quality voices to be used with AVSpeechUtterance. There doesn't seem to be any api that can be used to make this process easier for the app user. Is there a way / api that would allow an app to download and use a higher quality voice? Will apple ever install on default higher quality voices? We really want to use the text to speech api in iOS however the very high amount of user friction to use high quality voices is stopping us. I would appreciate a response. Thanks

Defining boundaries of inline dialogs for VO users
Hello, I had submitted a question to clarify which components have accessibility APIs that trigger haptics for VoiceOver users https://developer.apple.com/forums/thread/773182. The question stems from perhaps a more direct question about specific components: do tablists and disclosures natively intend to include haptics or screen reader hint or other state or properties to indicate to screen reader users where the component begins or ends? In some web experiences there are screen reader hint text stating "end of..." or "entering" as a way to define the boundaries of these inline dialogs. I had asked about haptics in the prior thread because I do not recall natively implemented version of this except in some haptic cues but have not experienced them consistently so I am not sure if that is an intended native Swift implementation or perhaps something custom.

Accessibility Personal Voice Issue with iOS & iPadOS Beta 1-6
Please refer to Feedback report: FB19701007 The Personal Voice file created in English changes to either Spanish or Chinese and no longer works properly. This has been happening since Beta 1 of iOS/iPadOS 26. I have been unable to pinpoint what causes this to occur. Possibly downloading foreign voices to a device or using different voices via AVSpeechSynthesizer. I run an app in Xcode on my device that prints to the console info about the installed voices. Initially after creation here is the output: Voice Identifier: com.apple.speech.personalvoice.16173F8D-DFB0-4024-98CC-69D965FD96A4 Language: en-US Then I hear a Spanish accent and find this: Voice Identifier: com.apple.speech.personalvoice.16173F8D-DFB0-4024-98CC-69D965FD96A4 Language: es-MX Currently it isn't working and here is the output: Voice Identifier: com.apple.speech.personalvoice.16173F8D-DFB0-4024-98CC-69D965FD96A4 Language: zh-CN Note that the voice file on all three above is the same. No matter what the user does, the created voice file should never be able to change languages. On my test devices I reset them all by erasing all content and settings and creating a new English Personal Voice and the issue persists. A side issue is the toggle share across devices doesn't remain off if turned off. I tried to not share to see if that could be the cause, but the toggle turns on automatically. It won’t remain off.

How to force VoiceOver to read decimal point even when there are 6 or more decimal digits?
When VoiceOver reads decimal numbers with six or more digits after the decimal, it stops announcing the decimal separator and also adds pauses between each digit. Text("0.12345") // VoiceOver: "zero **point** one two three four five" Text("0.123456") // VoiceOver: "zero one, two, three, four, five, six" How can I force VoiceOver to announce the decimal separator ("point") and not insert pauses regardless of the number of decimal digits?

AccessibilityHint for UIAlertAction
Hi, I am setting an accessibilityLabel and accessibilityHint property of a UIAlertAction. However, VoiceOver is only reading the label out. Usually, the label is read out, followed by a short pause and then the hint. Is this a known issue, where hints do not work for this element? I can append the hint to the label, but interested to know if there's something I'm doing wrong. Regards.

SwiftUI Accessibility Inspector?
Please excuse me if this is obvious. I'm new to Apple development. Is there a SwiftUI Accessibility Inspector? I run the standard one, in Xcode 26b3, and it shows me warnings for things that I didn't create in SwiftUI. I presume that "SwiftUI" is primarily implemented using macros and that these things are either generated or boilerplate lower-level things. But if so, then why would they trip Accessibility Inspector warnings? Is there something I can do from SwiftUI to clear them? Or... is there a demangler somewhere that will translate from these names into something this human might recognize? I'm targeting macos, btw, if that makes any difference.

WiFi aware demo paring issue
I am developing a program on my chip and attempting to establish a connection with the WiFi Aware demo app launched by iOS 26. Currently, I am encountering an issue during the pairing phase. If I am the subscriber of the service and successfully complete the follow-up frame exchange of pairing bootstrapping, I see the PIN code displayed by iOS. Question 1: How should I use this PIN code? Question 2: Subsequently, I need to negotiate keys with iOS through PASN. What should I use as the password for the PASN SAE process? If I am the subscriber of the service and successfully complete the follow-up frame exchange of pairing bootstrapping, I should display the PIN code. Question 3: How do I generate this PIN code? Question 4: Subsequently, I need to negotiate keys with iOS through PASN. What should I use as the password for the PASN SAE process?

When using UIScrollView and UITextView together, inserting a link causes the following text to disappear.
Since UITextView does not support the zoom function, the zoom function of UITextView with addSubview is used in UIScrollView. However, when I use the link here, the text behind it is missing. Ex) https://appstoreconnect.apple.com/login\nApple Developer Login -> The text “Apple Developer Login” does not appear. If anyone has experienced the same problem as me or knows a solution, please leave a comment. Note) It is working normally in iOS16, but the text behind the link disappears in iOS18. The text is not visible, but you can copy it and paste it to retrieve the missing text.

SwiftUI tvOS Accessibility VoiceOver - prevent reading all items in ScrollView over and over
Hi, I'm trying to fix tvOS view for VoiceOver accessibility feature: TabView { // 5 tabs Text(title) Button(play) ScrollView { // Live LazyHStack { 200 items } } ScrollView { // Continue watching LazyHStack { 500 items } } } When the view shows up VoiceOver reads: "Home tab 1 of 5, Item 2" - not sure why it reads Item 2 of the first cell in scroll view, maybe beacause it just got loaded by LazyHStack. VocieOver should only read "Home tab 1 of 5" When moving focus to scroll view it reads: "Live, Item 1" and after slight delay "Item 1, Item 2, Item 3, Item 4" When moving focus to second item it reads: "Item 2" and after slight delay "Item 1, Item 2, Item 3, Item 4" When moving focus to third item it reads: "Item 3" and after slight delay "Item 1, Item 2, Item 3, Item 4" It should be just reading what is focused, idealy just "Live, Item 1, 1 of 200" then after moving focus on item 2 "Item 2, 2 of 200" this time without the word "Live" because we are on the same scroll view (the same horizontal list) Currently the app is unusable, we have visually impaired testers and this rotor reading everything on the screen is totaly confusing, because users don't know where they are and what is actually focused. This is a video streaming app and we are streaming all the time, even on home page in background, binge plays one item after another, usually there is never ending Live stream playing, user can switch TV channel, but we continue to play. Voice over should only read what's focused after user interaction. Original Apple TV app does not do that, so it cannot be caused by some verbose accessibility settings. It reads correctly only focused item in scrolling lists. How do I disable reading content that is not focused? I tried: .accessibilityLabel(isFocused ? title : "") .accessibilityHidden(!isFocused) .accessibilityHidden(true) - tried on various levels in view hierarchy .accessiblityElement(children: .ignore) - even focused item is not read back by voice over .accessiblityElement(children: .ignore) - even focused item is not read back by voice over .accessiblityElement(children: .contain) - tried on various levels in view hierarchy .accessiblityElement(children: .combine) - tried on various levels in view hierarchy .accessibilityAddTraits(.isHeader) - tried on various levels in view hierarchy .accessibilityRemoveTraits(.isHeader) - tried on various levels in view hierarchy // the last 2 was basically an attempt to hack it .accessibilityRotor("", ranges []) - another hack that I tried on ScrollView, LazyHStack, also on top level view. 50+ other attempts at configuring accessibility tags attached to views. I have seen all the accessibility videos, tried all sample code projects, I haven't found a solution anywhere, internet search didn't find anything, AI didn't help as it can only provide code that someone else wrote before. Any idea how to fix this? Thanks.

VisionOS - Gamepad steals focus
I am developing a vision os app for controlling an underwater ROV. I have ornaments with telemetry and buttons around a central video view feed. I have custom buttons mappings, such as "A" for locking the depth of the drone. However, when I look at buttons or certain ornaments, my custom gamepad logic is kept from running. This means that when a SwiftUI Button gains focus on visionOS, pressing the controller’s A button triggers the system’s default “click” on that Button rather than my custom buttonA handler. Essentially, focus interception by the system is stealing my A-press events and preventing my custom gamepad logic from running. Is there a way to disable the built in gamepad interaction and only allow my custom gamepad mappings?

Bulgarian cyrillic alphabet appears to be Russian, but should look Bulgarian
Hello So if you use the Bulgarian keyboard, you get these characters: явертъуиопюасдфгхйклшщзьцжбнмч This isn’t really right for Bulgaria, because т should look like m, and д should look like g, and other characters should look like rotated or mirrored Latin characters. E.g., г should look like a backwards s. Compare the Bulgaria Wikipedia page in Bulgarian: https://bg.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D0%91%D1%8A%D0%BB%D0%B3%D0%B0%D1%80%D0%B8%D1%8F with the Bulgaria Wikipedia page in Russian: https://ru.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D0%91%D0%BE%D0%BB%D0%B3%D0%B0%D1%80%D0%B8%D1%8F Notice that the letters are different. Anyhow, the ios Bulgarian font is just Russian Cyrillic, and that seems like an unintended bug rather than an intentional stylistic choice, basically.

[macOS 15.4] Game Controller Background Input Capture Broken - Accessibility App No Longer Functions
Our application, https://apps.apple.com/us/app/gamecontroller-mapper/id6737088417 which maps game controller inputs to keyboard/mouse events system-wide, has stopped functioning properly after the macOS 15.4 update. Specifically, the app can no longer capture game controller inputs when running in the background, severely impacting its core functionality. Environment macOS version: 15.4 Previous working versions: All versions prior to 15.4 App type: Background utility with accessibility permissions Hardware: All game controller brands compatible with macOS Detailed Description Before macOS 15.4 Our application correctly captured game controller inputs from any brand connected to Mac and successfully translated them to keyboard/mouse events system-wide. Users could control any application (e.g., scrolling through documents in Preview using controller buttons) while our app ran in the background with the accessibility permissions granted. After macOS 15.4 The application only works when it has active focus (is in the foreground). When any other application gains focus, our app completely stops receiving or detecting any input events from the game controller while running in the background. For instance, pressing the 'down' button on the controller while another app is active results in no event being registered within our application. We've tried updating the app to work in accessory mode (in the menubar), but the issue persists. Steps to Reproduce Install our application on macOS 15.3 or earlier Grant accessibility permissions when prompted Connect a compatible game controller (e.g., Xbox or other controller) Open another application (e.g., Preview with a PDF document) Press buttons on the controller to navigate the document without touching the keyboard Expected result on 15.3: Controller inputs are translated to keyboard events, even when our app is in the background Upgrade to macOS 15.4 Repeat steps 2-5 Actual result on 15.4: Controller inputs are only translated to keyboard events when our application has focus Technical Implementation Our app uses: CGEvent.tapCreate() to create a global event tap CGEvent for simulating keyboard and mouse events GCController.extendedGamepad?.valueChangedHandler for detecting controller inputs Proper NSAccessibilityUsageDescription and appropriate entitlements GCController.shouldMonitorBackgroundEvents = true to ensure controller events continue when the app is inactive Possible Relation to Recent Changes We noticed in the macOS 15.4 Release Notes: Game Controller - Resolved Issues: Fixed: Game controllers might stop responding when accessibility features, such as Voice Over, are enabled. (141497799) We suspect this fix might have introduced a regression or intentional limitation affecting applications like ours that rely on background event simulation with game controller input. Impact This change severely impacts: Applications designed to use game controllers as assistive input devices for users who may have difficulty using traditional keyboard and mouse inputs Applications for media control, presentation navigation, and other similar use cases Users who rely on our application for accessibility purposes Questions Is this an intentional security change or an unintended side effect of the controller fix mentioned in the release notes? Are there any new APIs or alternative approaches we should implement to restore functionality? If this is a system bug, when can we expect a fix? We would greatly appreciate any guidance on how to restore our application's functionality. Thank you for your assistance.

VoiceOver spells word letter by letter
We currently have an odd issue with VoiceOver spelling a word letter by letter while the same word is spoken as a whole for other items. The app is in German. I have a View in SwiftUI whose button traits are removed, then a label "Start Tab 1 von 5" is added. "Tab is spoken as a whole word here, all fine. If I change the label to "Tab-Schaltfläche" or for example "SimplyGo Tab 3 von 5", then "Tab" is spoken as "T A B", letter by letter. is there a way to force VoiceOver to speak it as a whole?
