iPhone 16 Pro failing to install new Siri Beta

I am currently on Apple's Dev Beta V4 for iOS 27. The first version I installed was the Dev Beta V2, I am desperate to try out the new Siri AI Beta, but it's just not installing for me.

I have the ability to "turn siri off" then "on again" and find I get the 2024 Apple Intelligence version fine.

But if I choose to try out the new AI Beta, I'm left with "Adding support for Siri is in progress. Siri will be unavailable until the update is complete." It's been in that state for over 48 hours in Beta 4 and I'm left with the OLD OLD Siri globe from pre-Apple intelligence.

Am I being too keen and just not leaving it long enough? Or is there a genuine issue at Apple's end, in regard to getting the new Siri to actually fully install?

update - updating to iOS 27.2 developer beta fixed it for me!

Well, let’s see if Dev Beta 7 gets me anywhere with Siri… it really is getting rather boring, that we’re 7 versions in and the new Siri just doesn’t install.

It’s Wednesday night, after a Monday night install. The optimising has finished. Siri is in exactly the same spot that it’s in every other time.

I’ll add to the same feedback report, but it’s really starting to feel like no-one’s actually listening. We’re getting closer and closer to the RC version.

Well, let’s give 8 a while. Remember I first joined in in version 2… I’ve been through 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 and STILL Siri Beta just sits there.

Hmmmm Beta 8 seems no different. Same feedback form updated with a fresh sysdiagnose file.

I‘m also having the same issue, I have been since beta 5 even though it was working on betas 1-2 for me (as I stated previously in this thread). It hasn’t been fixed for me up until now in beta 8, either. RC is now released, let’s give that a try.

Well, it’s the RC version. Only been a couple of hours, so nothing 100% yet. But so far, no difference to DevBeta 8

Update – iOS 27 Release Candidate

The issue remains unresolved on the iOS 27 RC.

After installing the RC, “Optimising Search and Siri” appeared and was allowed to complete. Apple Intelligence storage temporarily increased from 7.37 GB to 11.17 GB during the update, but subsequently returned to exactly 7.37 GB.

Once optimisation had completed, Siri AI continued to display “Adding support for Siri is in progress” and remains unavailable. Invoking Siri continues to fall back to the old pre-Apple-Intelligence Siri interface.

I have also re-enabled “Siri/Hey Siri”, completed the five-phrase voice recognition setup again, and restarted the iPhone, with no change.

One additional observation: entering siri:// in Safari is recognised as belonging to an app called “Siri”, but iOS asks me to restore the Siri app. Selecting “Show in App Store” then produces “App Not Available — This app is currently not available in your country or region.”

I’m literally on the same stuck phase since beta 1. I’m now on iOS27 RC on iPhone 15 pro. I’ve submitted feedback multiple times via the feedback assistant FB23365397

I've been having the exact same issue since beta 1 too.

Welp. The beta cycle for 27.0 has officially concluded with the stable release of iOS & iPadOS 27 (the RC build, which still contains the bug, was released as the final build)

What a shame. Apple went from being highly regarded for their polished software, to having software notorious for being filled with bugs. I’d also filed a bug report, just in case it’d help their engineers: FB24752597. I’d be very pleasantly surprised if this gets fixed in a 27.0.x update or in 27.1. I’m not getting my hopes up, though.

Well, an unexpected install today. Nothing in the Dev updates, but by turning them off, I got a 580MB update, note the build number. Whether it makes any difference to me… dunno yet.

I also have siri, iPhone 15 pro Max iOS 27 does not work. Did you manage to solve the problem?

hey @DTS Engineer, anything else we can do here?

@nischalj I would suggest patience so the engineering team can spend the time working on the issue and they can focus on providing a solution that works for everyone.

Thanks

I HAVE A SOLUTION! This at least worked in my situation. The issue resolved after I enabled the App Store and removed Screen Time restrictions, then restarted my phone. Based on the immediate download after restart, I suspect disabling the App Store was the blocking condition.

update - updating to iOS 27.2 developer beta fixed it for me!

After the update to ios27.2, siri started working

Yup, no idea if iOS 27.2 Beta 1 specifically fixed the issue I was having, or whether another update “in general” just managed to push things along, I have no idea.

Technically, the Feedback is still open - FB23424437 - with a fresh sysdiagnose if it’s helpful.

I have been experiencing an ongoing Siri / Apple Intelligence issue since the iOS 27 beta versions. The problem has continued through multiple beta releases and still remains unresolved even after updating to the official release of iOS 27.

My current language configuration is:

  • iPhone system language: English (US)
  • Siri language: English (US)

Both are set to the same US English language environment.

The main symptoms are as follows:

  1. In Settings, Siri / Apple Intelligence remains stuck on:

“Adding support for Siri is in progress”

This status can remain for a very long time and never completes normally.

  1. When the iPhone is connected to a charger, Siri / Apple Intelligence sometimes appears to have completed downloading, and Siri may temporarily become available.

However, once I disconnect the charger, the system may immediately return to a state where additional Siri resources need to be downloaded, or Siri becomes unavailable again.

This is one of the most consistent and unusual symptoms of the issue.

  1. When using cellular data, the system may say that Wi-Fi is required to continue downloading Siri resources.

However, after connecting to Wi-Fi, it simply returns to:

“Adding support for Siri is in progress”

and never actually finishes.

  1. The Siri app may directly display:

“Siri is not available”

  1. I have also tried switching between different Siri modes.

Even when using the older Siri experience, the system may still continue showing:

“Adding support for Siri is in progress”

The newer Siri interface is also available on the device, but the required resources or models never appear to complete activation properly.

  1. Apple Intelligence storage usage has also behaved abnormally.

At one point, iPhone Storage showed approximately 7.37 GB being used by Apple Intelligence.

Later, the Apple Intelligence storage entry disappeared completely and the occupied storage space decreased.

After changing language settings again, the approximately 7.37 GB Apple Intelligence storage usage reappeared.

This makes it appear that the Siri / Apple Intelligence local assets may be repeatedly downloaded, removed, invalidated, or not correctly recognized by the system after downloading.

  1. I have already tried extensive troubleshooting, including:
  • Different Wi-Fi networks
  • Cellular data
  • Disabling VPN and proxy services
  • Changing system language
  • Changing Siri language
  • Setting both system language and Siri language to English (US)
  • Removing previously used additional languages
  • Restarting the iPhone
  • Resetting All Settings
  • Updating iOS through Recovery Mode
  • Updating through multiple iOS 27 beta versions
  • Updating from iOS 27 beta to the official iOS 27 release
  • Leaving the iPhone connected to Wi-Fi and power for extended periods

None of these steps has provided a permanent solution.

Sometimes Siri suddenly starts working again without any clear reason, but the issue later returns.

Because of this, I do not consider the temporary recovery to be a real fix.

The most important behavior is:

When the iPhone is connected to power, Siri / Apple Intelligence may appear to be fully downloaded or temporarily functional.

After disconnecting the charger, the system may again report that Siri resources still need to be downloaded, or Siri becomes unavailable.

This issue started during the iOS 27 beta period and has continued all the way to the official release of iOS 27.

Normal software updates have not resolved it.

Based on the behavior, I suspect this may not simply be a network download failure. It may involve the local Siri / Apple Intelligence asset state, asset verification, background asset download services, or device-side activation/configuration.

I would like Apple to confirm the following:

  1. Is this a known issue in iOS 27?

  2. Is there an existing internal bug report or Feedback ID related to this behavior?

  3. Has this issue been addressed in iOS 27.1, iOS 27.2, or any later build?

  4. Is there a supported solution that does not require erasing the entire iPhone or performing a full factory reset?

  5. Is there any way to force the device to completely re-download, re-register, or revalidate the Siri / Apple Intelligence assets and local models?

I would strongly prefer not to erase the iPhone because the device contains a large amount of data, applications, account configurations, eSIM settings, and other information that is currently working normally.

This issue has existed since the iOS 27 beta versions and remains unresolved on the official iOS 27 release despite extensive troubleshooting.

I would appreciate it if this issue could be escalated to the appropriate engineering team for further investigation.

Troubleshooting Guide: Resolving Siri Downgrades and Activating Next-Gen Siri AI on iOS Problem Overview The device was trapped in an issue where Siri repeatedly downgraded to the legacy interface (first-gen floating sphere) instead of activating the next-generation glowing-edge interface or the full Siri AI experience. The primary root causes identified were: Network Layer Timeouts & Resets: The AnyTLS node backend drops UDP/QUIC traffic, causing iCloud authentication gateways (gateway.icloud.com) to fail into an infinite retry loop when running on UDP mode. Traffic Leakage via Fallback Rules: Core network probes and model validation endpoints (probe.icloud.com, gdmf-ados.apple.com, pXX-acsegateway.icloud.com, and iphone-ld.apple.com) bypassed proxy rules and matched domestic DIRECT rules, causing Apple servers to detect a mainland IP and suspend Apple Intelligence models. Configuration & Asset Deadlock: The system voice was mismatched (British instead of American), and the local Generative Model assets remained unmounted due to missing user authorization under Try Siri AI (Beta). Step-by-Step Resolution

  1. Proxy Node Protocol Optimization (Shadowrocket)

Enforce TCP Transmission: Switch the node transport protocol strictly from UDP to TCP. Keep TLS Active: Retain TLS encryption to ensure seamless end-to-end handshakes with remote proxies while circumventing BLOCK-QUIC dropped packets. 2. Bulletproof Routing Rules Configuration Add the following high-priority keyword rules and drag them to the very top of the Shadowrocket routing table to prevent broader fallback rules (apple.com,DIRECT or GEOIP,CN,DIRECT) from hijacking them: DOMAIN-KEYWORD,gateway,PROXY — Routes all partition and root iCloud gateways (gateway.icloud.com, pXX-acsegateway.icloud.com). DOMAIN-KEYWORD,probe,PROXY — Blocks local network location probes (probe.icloud.com) from leaking actual physical IP addresses. DOMAIN-KEYWORD,gdmf,PROXY — Covers both firmware signing and offline model asset authorization (gdmf.apple.com, gdmf-ados.apple.com). DOMAIN-KEYWORD,guzzoni,PROXY — Covers primary voice processing and cloud comprehension endpoints. DOMAIN-SUFFIX,iphone-ld.apple.com,PROXY — Proxies Apple's locale and device determination server. 3. iOS System Environment & Siri AI Activation System Alignment: Set Language to English (United States) and Region to United States. Voice Model Uniformity: In Settings > Siri, change Voice to American (e.g., Voice 4) to prevent asset loading stalls caused by regional language/voice discrepancies. Enable New Architecture: Tap Try Siri AI (Beta) and confirm authorization, prompting the system to transition to the new interaction pipeline. Remove Unintended Locks: Disable "Require Face ID" on the standalone Siri application icon to enable instant opening without biometric friction. 4. Model Asset Compilation & Cache Flashing Force Asset Refresh: Delete and re-download English (US) within the built-in Translate app to clear corrupted MobileAsset download queues. Finalize ANE Deployment: Connect the iPhone to power, lock the screen, and leave it idle on Wi-Fi for 10–15 minutes. This provides the powerd and triald background daemons with the necessary low-power state to unpack and load generative model weights into the Apple Neural Engine (ANE). Result & Current Status Split-Tunneling Verified: Domestic Chinese apps (WeChat, Alipay, Meituan, Xiaohongshu) connect directly without proxy overhead or latency degradation. Apple Intelligence Active: Double-tapping the Home Bar brings up the "Type to Siri" card, and invoking Siri triggers full-screen glowing edges without errors or fallbacks.
