I am seeing recurring DCError.invalidKey in my iOS app using App Attest, and I'am trying to determine whether throttling or a quota can be a contributing factor before we look further. Questions Are there rate limits or quotas on generateKey, attestKey, or generateAssertion — scoped per device, per key, or per app? I understand exact thresholds may not be published; what I'd mainly like to know is whether such limits exist and roughly what timing window they apply over. If a limit is hit, which error surfaces? Specifically, can throttling ever present as DCError.invalidKey, or would it always be serverUnavailable (or another distinct code)? Does calling the attestation flow repeatedly in a short window (e.g. several times within a few minutes from an onboarding sequence) risk triggering throttling or anti-abuse rejection? Am I right that generateAssertion is entirely on-device and therefore not subject to any server-side limit — i.e. only attestKey contacts Apple's servers? We generate Secure Enclave keys via SecKeyCreateRandomKey with kSecAttrTokenIDSecureEnclave on macOS. We need to prove to a remote server that the key is genuinely hardware-bound, not a software key claiming to be one. Is there any API on macOS for an app to obtain an Apple-signed certificate or attestation statement for such a Secure Enclave key, similar to how ASAuthorizationProviderExtensionLoginManager.attestKey() works within Platform SSO but available to general apps? DCAppAttestService.shared.isSupported always returns false on my M4 Mac running macOS 27.0 (26A5368g), even with the correct entitlement and a valid provisioning profile. In the WWDC 2021 session Mitigate fraud with App Attest and DeviceCheck it is said that: App Attest is supported on devices that have a Secure Enclave, but there are cases, such as app extensions, where isSupported will still return false. The documentation shows that the following Macs have a Secure Enclave: MacBook Pro computers with Touch Bar (2016 and 2017) that contain the Apple T1 Chip Intel-based Mac computers that contain the Apple T2 Security Chip Mac computers with Apple silicon I'm using a 2018 15" MacBook Pro containing a T2 Security Chip for testing, however, DCAppAttestService.shared.isSupported always returns false in native macOS or Catalyst apps. DCDevice.current.isSupported also returns false. The documentation for DCAppAttestService shows availability on "macOS 11.0+" and "Mac Catalyst 14.0+". It appears to have been added in the macOS 11.3 SDK included in Xcode 12.5. DCDevice shows availability on "macOS 10.15+" and "Mac Catalyst 13.0+". Although both APIs are available on the listed OSes, I only ever see isSupported == false. Are App Attest or DeviceCheck functional on any Macs? If so: Are there more specific Macs that support the feature (e.g., Apple Silicon Macs only)? Are there any additional steps that need to be taken to use them (e.g., changes to entitlements, provisioning profiles or distribution through the Mac App Store)? In native macOS apps, it doesn't actually appear to be possible to add the App Attest capability in Xcode under "Signing & Capabilities". If not, I think it would be good to update the documentation with this limitation since I'd expect them to work based on the availability being "macOS 10.15+" or "macOS 11.0+" for DeviceCheck and App Attest, respectively. I imagine most others would make the same assumptions.

Symptom Production iOS app (TestFlight) using App Attest. Devices generate assertions via DCAppAttestService (through Firebase App Check, which forwards to Apple's validation infrastructure). The fleet was attesting cleanly at ~100% verified for the first ~7 days post-first-install per device — then collapsed to ~0% verified once the initial token's natural TTL expired and devices were forced to re-attest. Has stayed at ~0% for 3+ days. Affects all 4 physical TestFlight devices; not reproducing on simulators (which is expected — App Attest unavailable there). The downstream validator's metric specifically categorizes these as "invalid" — meaning a token reached it and was rejected as cryptographically invalid — not as "no token sent" / "unrecognized origin" / "outdated SDK." Environment iOS 26.x (26.3.1 confirmed on multiple devices). Team ID T68SS8UY5J, bundle com.calimento.app, App ID has App Attest capability checked. Entitlements signed into binary: com.apple.developer.devicecheck.appattest-environment = production. Xcode would refuse this embed if the App ID lost the capability — so capability state is verifiably intact. Provisioning profile UUID byte-identical between the last verified-traffic build and the first invalid-traffic build (confirmed via Xcode build logs). Same code-signing identity hash across both builds. TestFlight builds approved by Apple Beta Review. What's been ruled out Provisioning / signing / certificate drift (UUID and cert hash unchanged across builds). App ID capability revocation (entitlement embed succeeded). Recovery semantics: if a device's keyId ends up internally blocklisted, does it age out, or is the device permanently unable to produce valid assertions for that App ID? appattest-environment = production validation flow: any way the production environment validator could differ from development in a way that produces this signature? Why I'm filing here rather than only with the SDK maintainer: The SDK is reliably attaching tokens (0% in the "no token" bucket). Origin is being recognized (0% in the "unknown origin" bucket). The rejection is happening at signature validation — which is downstream of any client-SDK behavior. There's several scenarios where I would like a notification service extension to be able to use App Attest in communications with the back end(for example to send a receipt to the backend acknowledging receipt of the push, fetching an image from a url in the push payload, a few others). Any change App Attest can be used in by a notification service extension?

Hi, In our app we are using DeviceCheck (App Attest) in a production environment iOS. The service works correctly for most users, but a user reported failure in a flow that use device check service. This failure is not intermittently, it is constant. We are unable to reproduce this failure and we are believing that this failure occurred by new version ios 26.3 because for others users using early versions the service is normally. I'm trying to setup device attestation. I believe I have everything setup correctly but the final step of signature validation never succeeds. I've added validation on the client side for debugging and it doesn't validate using CryptoKit. After the assertion is created, I try to validate it: assertion = try await DCAppAttestService.shared.generateAssertion(keyId, clientDataHash: clientDataHash) await validateAssertionLocallyForDebugging(keyId: keyId, assertionObject: assertion, clientDataHash: clientDataHash) In the validateAssertionLocallyForDebugging method, I extract all the data from the CBOR assertionObject and then setup the parameters to validate the signature, using the key that was created from the original attestation flow, but it fails every time. Hello everyone, I'm facing a critical, blocking issue where my developer account (Team ID: K655PX7A46) is unable to generate a valid provisioning profile with the App Attest entitlement. I have confirmed this is a server-side issue and am hoping to get visibility from an Apple engineer who can investigate. The Problem: When I generate a provisioning profile for an App ID with the "App Attest" capability enabled, the resulting profile is defective. It is missing the required com.apple.developer.app-attest.environment key in its entitlements dictionary, causing Xcode to fail the build. What I Have Proven: The issue is not a misconfiguration. The App Attest capability is correctly enabled and saved on the App ID configuration page. The issue is not isolated to one App ID. I created a brand new App ID from scratch, enabled the capability during creation, and the server still generates a defective profile with the same missing entitlement. I have definitive proof by inspecting the downloaded .mobileprovision file. The contents confirm the required key is missing. Steps to Reproduce on My Account: Create a new App ID on the Developer Portal. Enable the "App Attest" capability and save. Generate a new "iOS App Development" provisioning profile for this App ID. Download the profile and inspect its contents via security cms -D -i [profile]. Observe that the com.apple.developer.app-attest.environment key is missing. The Evidence (Contents of the Defective Profile): Here is the output from inspecting the profile for a brand new App ID (com.technology519.linksi.app2). As you can see, the correct entitlement is missing, and an incorrect devicecheck entitlement is present instead. This is a critical bug in the provisioning profile generation service for my account that is blocking all development. I have already filed a support ticket (Case #102721408444) but have so far only received generic, unhelpful responses. Can an Apple engineer please investigate this server-side issue with my account?
