Recovering Lost Password
The MacStudio has only one account on it, and that is of course an admin account. The password to this account is lost. The MacStudio has an association with my AppleID I log into developer.apple.com with. To recover, this procedure was followed: The recovery mode was entered by holding down the power key for 15 seconds. In the options that appeared the "Forgot all passwords" option was clicked on. I entered the same credentials I log into developer.apple.com with. The credentials were accepted. The shell was launched, and the in the shell the command "resetpasswords" entered. The message: "If you don't know the password for any user on your Mac, you can deactivate your Mac and set new passwords for all users. An internet connection will be required to reactivate your Mac". Beneath this message there was in blue text: "Deactivate Mac". I did not proceed after this because I was not sure what deactivation would mean for the files on the computer. On it there is code written in Swift that needs to be preserved. If the deactivation is done will the files be preserved, and be accessible? Or does a deactivation remove all files?

CloudKit - moving record objects between zones
My app has three main SwiftData models: Collection, SavedItem, and Extract. A Collection can contain subcollections (folders within folders) and SavedItems (files). Each SavedItem can have child Extracts. I'm preparing for the ability for users to be able to share Collections with each other. Currently, my architecture treats each Collection as the root of its own CloudKit zone (a root parent Collection and all of its items and subcollections live in 1 zone). This makes sharing and isolation straightforward, but it also means that moving a SavedItem or subcollection between Collections involves moving it across zones. I’m trying to figure out the best pattern for handling these cross-zone moves while keeping data integrity, relationships, and sharing intact. My understanding is that in CloudKit, and moving a record from Zone A to Zone B would require deleting it from Zone A and recreating it in Zone B - while somehow maintaining the link back to my local SwiftData store. Has anyone run into this or know how best I should handle it?

IOS 26 Developer Beta 3
This is my first problem and my first question hopefully somebody can help or give me some suggestions. I was in the developr beta of IOS 26 build(235260n) for a while I haven't updated it since the new beat has came out, beta 3. I have been trying to update requested, after about 20 seconds it goes away but does not start the download the update. The problem also begins to download something into the system beta goes from 22.85 GB to 33.78 GB. It just holds the update but doesn't;t update the phone. I have tried power cycling the device and everytime I do that it just resets the system data and allows up to try the update again. Unsure what to do and don't know if I would need to wait for the public beta for IOS26 to change anything on the device. Please let me know if you guys have any more suggestions what should be the next step. I also was unsure if I should backup the device and reinstall it to make sure that its not something with the conncetion.

Why are system reserved files consuming half of my storage?
I am constantly running out of storage on my iPhone 16 Pro. I keep having to move my photos and videos to my laptop and delete them from my phone, and I’m constantly needing to offload apps and manually clear caches in some apps to free up storage. I finally got sick of having this cycle every two weeks so looked into it more closely. I’m finding that iOS consumes 32 GB, and then another system reserve category is consuming an additional 23 GB. Meaning the system reserved files are consuming half of the storage on this phone and effectively making it a 64 GB model. I understand the system will need to consume some capacity for itself and that iOS is getting larger, but nearly 50% of the capacity of the phone is insane. Looking closer into the categories, I’m seeing that iOS has taken it upon itself to also permanently provision 10% of the storage capacity for reserve update space. Already another instance of “why am I having to lose so much of my functional capacity to an occasional process?” but I can understand the utility of this — if I didn’t still have to offload basically all my apps every single time I run a software update, because I’m still some not-insignificant amount short. I seem to recall it being between 6-20 GB across the different updates I’ve had to do since iOS 26 rolled around. I’d also like to be clear that preprovisioning the storage space for updates isn’t a bad idea, just give us an off switch if we’d rather be able to take a few hundred more photos, have another few apps, etc. than have the space sit mostly unused. The biggest culprit is this “system data” category which is somehow consuming as much space as the entire operating system and its extensions. There’s no clear way to request iOS to clear this down if some of it is temporary data, which we should have a button for even if Apple thinks it should “just work.” Windows usually trims down on its temp files, but on the occasion you go look and see 67 GB of temporary files, being able to manually run the disk cleanup tool is very helpful. I’m hesitant to try any third party app because I shouldn’t need to, and knowing Apple, it wouldn’t have access to anything it would actually have to touch anyway. Which is neither here nor there, but give us a button to clear cache or maybe run the cleanup when the phone reboots? I am running the developer beta right now so maybe that’s part of it. However I’m not sure… I had switched to mainline release for a while when it released, and it didn’t seem any different with storage consumption and battery drain. I jumped back to beta to see some of the new features and am waiting for another mainline release to switch back to as the recent betas have been much more unstable/buggy than the entire prerelease beta period. Just wondering if anyone has any kind of input on this storage issue in particular as it’s not really been talked about as much as the battery drain issue from what I can see.

Unable to update to the beta version of iPadOS26.
I tried to update to the currently released beta version of iPad OS26, but I can't seem to update due to lack of storage space on my iPad. Is there any other way to update besides freeing up space? Model: iPad 8 Storage: 18GB/32GB I would appreciate it if anyone has any information on how to free up storage space in order to update to iPad OS26.

Issue getting back only a subset of product IDs for purchase controller
As of today we seem to continuously get back 21 of the product IDs we have defined when the shop initializes. This is causing what looks like intermittent bug behavior in our shop. The IDs sent each time are random (not always the same 21). So sometimes they match shop offers and the packs look right and can be bought and sometimes the ones our current shop offers need are not sent and so the offers in game look wrong and error when you try to buy. Is anyone else seeing this new behavior of not getting down all their product IDs successfully?

Keyboard becomes unresponsive after backgrounding app while iCloud Keychain “Save Password?” sheet is visible
Product & Version: iOS 17.5.1 (21F90) – reproducible since iOS 13 Test devices: iPhone 14 Pro, iPhone 15, iPad (10th gen) Category: UIKit → Text Input / Keyboard Summary: If the system “Save Password?” prompt (shown by iCloud Keychain after a successful login) is onscreen and the user sends the app to background (Home gesture / App Switcher), the prompt is automatically dismissed. When the app returns to foreground, the keyboard does not appear, and text input is impossible in the entire app until it is force-quit. Steps to Reproduce: Run any app from AppStore that shows "Save Password" alert. Enter any credentials and tap Login, iOS shows the system “Save Password?” alert. Without interacting with the alert, swipe up to the Home screen (or open the App Switcher). Reactivate the app. Tap the text field in the app.

Apple Mail, Pre-header, Apple Intelligence
As a marketing company, we have been utilizing email pre-headers to provide concise summaries of our emails to our consumers. However, with the recent integration of Apple Intelligence into Apple Mail, these pre-headers have been rendered obsolete, replaced by an AI-generated summary of the email. While recipients have the ability to disable the AI function, as a marketing organization, we would like to retain control over the summary presented to our end users. Is there a mechanism for the sender of an email to instruct Apple Mail to refrain from utilizing Apple Intelligence for email summarization and instead display the pre-text?

Installing macOS 26 on Partition
Hello, I’m wanting to install macOS 26 on a partition on my MacBook Pro so I can use the fully featured Xcode Beta. I was able to create the partition but am having trouble figuring out how to install the operating system on the partition because on the developer downloads site there is only .ispw files. What are the steps to do this successfully? Thanks. Kevin

Cannot enroll in Apple Developer Program Due to the Arbitrary Account Ban
I signed up for the Apple Developer Program because I am a computer student and need to complete the App on the shelves in the graduation project. Last week and today (2025/2/10), I gave feedback about the problem that my developer account registration Apple Developer Program process was blocked and suspended. It's strange that the telephone technical consultant said that my account has been locked to register as a developer account. By the way, when I got a problem in this process, I always contacted Apple Developer Support in China, not Apple Developer Support in the United States' office. Timeline Around 2023, I applied for the Apple Developer Program for the first time, using an iPhone 13. This application was used to register for the iOS Beta program to get access to the beta version of the iOS software. After submitting my name and identity document and taking a personal photo, I withdrew from the application process without further filling in my personal identity information (English name and address). In early February 2025, I used my current mobile phone iPhone 15 to fill in the personal information of the application process of the Developer Program originally launched in 2023, but after trying to submit it many times, the Developer App still showed "Verification Your identity" button. So I submitted my first support case. On February 8, 2025, I received a reply email from the support case and found that my application process had been reset. I re-filled in my name and ID number, took photos, and filled in my English name and address on my iPhone 15. This process is maintained on the same device and the same network. After submission, "Register Now" (gray, non-clickable) is displayed on the Developer App, and this status continues until now. I can't do any further operations to complete the application process. So I launched the second support case. Mighty Reasons It should be added that I used to use two Apple IDs on iPhone 13 and iPhone 15, that is, the device account and the Apple ID logged in to the App Store are two different IDs (but the identity information is mine). The telephone technical support said that it may have something to do with this. But there is no reason in the system at present. I have been using real identity information in the process, but because the process of applying for registration is too long, or the ID problem of device login, in short, my current registration process is still blocked. Who can tell me how to unlock or reset the registration process? If you can provide more information, I would appreciate it.

Brightness slider UI bug when long-pressed in iOS 26
Hi! I found a UI bug in iOS 26.0 (23A5276f). When you swipe down from the top right to open Control Center and adjust brightness using the slider, everything looks normal. However, if you long-press the brightness slider, the brightness knob detaches from the base. The button becomes smaller while the frame remains the same, making the UI asymmetrical and misaligned. This happens consistently and is clearly a layout issue.
